Picked up Gargoyle, Genis-Vell, and MCU Carol (standard release) today. Some thoughts:

Carol is a very nice figure, great colors and sculpt. The face looks a little like Amy Poehler, but it also looks enough like Brie Larson to not be an issue. The smirk on the masked head is great.

Genis is a stunning figure for being so basic. Mine has some head-wobble, but nothing that can't be fixed. I love him and can't wait to do some fun photos involving lighting and his translucent body.

Gargoyle is someone I've wanted for a long time, and aside from his cape having those "fins" on the peg, he doesn't disappoint I'll likely be trimming those off. And plus, he can now stand with the other "90s Iron Man Cartoon" villains.

The Herc on eBay features removable fists, but they look like they may be too big for the Namor-mold (my quest continues). Herc looks pretty solid and I could see his upper body getting reused for Thor, or some other large framed character. That said, I hope Hasbro doesn’t go that route because it would present a problem with the teased Beta Ray Bill from NYCC, which looked like it was sporting the arms of the Hyperion mold. My reason for concern is that Bill is physically bigger than Thor and I haven’t waited dutifully all these years for a new Bill only to be frustrated that the fig is smaller than the Odinson and unusable as a result. Not that the previewed Bill didn’t already have problems. Near the top of the list is the largely unrecognizable outfit, but I digress...The auctioned Nighthawk just looks all around bad. Heavy reuse of parts (not exactly a deal breaker, but it feels very mailed in), the cape looks off, and the claws look like something Toybiz would've done. No bueno. Doesn’t make me confident in seeing an expanded Defenders line-up or Squadron. Oh well, at least Herc looks decent.

Didn't someone on here have a few Rhinos? what line was that even from. Me thinks i wants one (or 2)

side note:

Does anyone know the exact "war chants" they are using in the movie?
i'm sure its listed somewhere...I tried use subtitles to see what they were saying but it just says:
Jabari men chanting and grunting (sounds like Bah-Fah??)
Wakandans chanting in Xhosa (sounds like E-Bom-Bay??)<<one of the best scenes in the movie>>

Maybe it's just me, but does it seem like we get more Ramos-inspired designs in the Spider-Man line than anything else?

I mean, typically with Marvel Legends, Hasbro goes for more artist-generic looks. Stuff that may represent a costume from a certain era, but done in such a way that you can't exactly pin it on a specific artist. People say that Psylocke doesn't look like Jim Lee's artwork, but it's clear Hasbro sees her as a 90s Psylocke. And Pizza Spidey can't really be pinned down to a specific artist either.

But then we get figures like the Hobgoblin BAF or this recent black-suit Spider-Man that clearly represent Ramos' work. And I don't know how I feel about that, because I'm not exactly a fan.

@Dark

I thought they were chanting "harambe." Which is Swahili for "all together." The internet suggests they are chanting "yibambe," Bantu for 'hold the line' or 'hold fast'. Makes more sense, but no definitive answer has been provided.

Not a fan either, they should stop that if that is indeed what they're doing. Oversized feet and hands are not ideal.

harambe to the sun as the mortals ask time..
Grand Verabalizer what time is it?
The funking lesson comes...the sundial speaks..
Grand Verabalizer what time is it?
The building of the strong and the lessons of the meek..

Yeah..i was just searching and reading as well...
@Yibambe ..what a powerful chant
what i read actually stated (and of course i just verified) that Nakia yelled it as well (and a subsequent reply by all) in Black Panther when the the tribes were declining a royal challenge.. she yelled it when the River Tribe declined the challenge.

That is my only gripe with the MU line's Beta Ray Bill, by using the smallest Thor body as his base he is smaller than other Thors in the line. If Hasbro manages to replicate that goof in this scale I'm just going to assume they don't know shit about Beta Ray Bill and only made this figure to say that they did so we can't keep asking for one. I really want this upcoming Beta Ray Bill because it is still Bill but my expectations are very tempered.

I don't know why I'm so sure about this, but I just don't think they're gonna do future Thors on the Hercules body and not only screw up in making him the same size as Herc, but also in making him larger than Bill; I think they're most likely to continue using the modified Hyperion body that both Young Odinson and SDCC Unworthy Thor in 2017 used.

Speaking of which, I could be wrong, but isn't that the only time they used that body?

It's a clearly better torso than the Hyperion buck, but they seemed to have totally forgotten about it until Hercules.

I know a fair amount about the character and Kyle deserved better. The head looks nerfed, the cape lacks gun barrels, the claws feel retrograde, the symbol on his chest is f'ed, and the boots are wrong. It's a hodgepodge mess of a couple of different costumes. Nighthawk has many fans out there. Ol' skool Defender heads and those familiar with the Squadron Supreme. I'm sure most of us will buy it, but damn...it wouldn't have taken much effort (nominal care) to knock this one out of the park.

Agreed, we've waited patiently and they have had plenty of missteps from which to learn. It's bad enough that the Stormbreaker, both hammer and handle, are too big. And the costume reeks of 'who cares?'; a total blow off. If they were going to opt out of classic-Bill, I would have preferred De Vito's revised look from the end of the Stormbreaker story. Well, let us (you and I) hope they do Beta Ray Bill Thor justice.

By the way, I nabbed that Herc off ebay! lol

Didn't know this was a problem with male figures but I have noticed it with a few females (namely GotG 2 Gamora and Colleen Wing). It bothered me so much with Gamora that I shaved down the neck peg.

Hmmm, that's surprising. I would think that helmet Carol would be the far more popular of the two.

Oh and count me in for more Wakandans. Didn't think I needed anymore until I saw the post with the pic of the Wakandans making their final stand in Infinity War.

She might be, as the only double-packed figure in the case it'll be harder to gauge exactly how well regular Carol sells as compared to jacket Carol this early in the wave's release.

Makes sense to me. If you happened to miss the All-Father BAF wave Carol, this would serve as a good stand in. I ran into one yesterday. The colors looks great. Trying to get all the BAF parts is gonna be rough.

Got the ones from Gargoyle and Genis-Vell if you've got anything to trade

I talked about Beta Ray Bill when Hasbro first showed us the figure and you guys talking about him again really brings back the mediocre feeling.

He's one of my all time favorites. I want his classic look and size. He deserves it. I want to replace my Toybiz Bill next to A-Force Sif. He really should get a unique mold not a hodgepodge mold reuse. I just don't think his newer look is as good as his old one. And to really nitpick, Stormbreaker being a long handled war hammer is not as cool as the original.

I really want The Eternals to do well so we can get cosmic waves. Those characters, their designs, stories, etc. are some of my favorites.

I just want the Eternals to do well enough we get Sersi, but more cosmic would be great!
