Really worried that the super quick releases of these waves are gonna cause a backlog of stuff to peg warm thanks to Hasbro essentially self cannibalizing them. I'm already noticing a huge number of Capt. Marvel figs clogging the spaces alongside remnants of the last BP (M'baku) and Deadpool (Sauron, along with a ton of Sasquatch X23 and Domino) waves. They really need to better space them out...or simply reduce the amount of waves we get in a year before it goes the way of Star Wars, where retailers start becoming reluctant to order new Legends products due to the crazy amount of back stock sitting on shelves.
A while back when I picked up the new QR Captain America figure, I mentioned that the new "Avengers" head fits on the original Avengers Walmart Cap, but will sit too high on the neck due to that body mold. Well, I finally worked up the courage to mod it (outside the Galive/Loki and Target two packs, I haven't seen any of the new figs in the wild outside of Maw and Nighthawk.) And while it took a bit of work...the operation was a success! ![]() I had to shave down about half the ball joint on the figure and burrow the hole a bit deeper into the head, but after some careful hallowing out of the new sculpt, it pops perfectly on with no loss of articulation. Even better, I can go back to the older one if I'd like, but after getting it to work with the new head, I doubt that will ever happen. The new head is colored pretty damn close in hand (the photo brings the misaligned colors out, but it works in hand and is barely noticeable if you have the darker variant of the fig like I have.) ![]() Unfortunately, the new head will not rest properly on the QR body like it used to, so I may just go with the heads from an extra 10th anniversary Cap that I have in my fodder bin to remedy that. Can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs, right? Best of all...I probably wont need to ever update him should Hasbro decide to do so, as I love this sculpt as is despite it's minor limitations. Not sure if it's been mentioned, but I can confirm the new Hawkeye head also works perfectly on the Amazon 4 pack MCU Hawkeye with no modding, if you are looking to upgrade that old figure. A tad off-topic, but I finally finished reading through Fantastic Four Omnibus Volume 2 and it was... well, fantastic.
I loved the Inhumans subplot that was going on throughout the second half of the book, though I do have to admit that it sometimes to disrupt the pacing a little. Also, why didn't the FF just ask Silver Surfer to remove the barrier with his cosmic powers? I'm sure he would have if they had asked him nicely. Nevertheles, that really made the book stand out to me as I'm not sure how many stories back then where doing something like that at the time. I know none of the DC books I have read have done so nor did Spider-Man. Reading the Galactus trilogy with full context of everything that lead up to it was a real treat because it really felt epic in scale. I will admit, it was hard to feel like anything could top it, and while nothing did, everything that followed was still incredible. The story about the dude who switches places with the Thing was interesting, which was of course then followed by the introduction of Black Panther. Getting to finally read his first appearace was just as great as the rest of the book, especially since I had no idea Klaw originally started out as some poacher. Until the movies, I always knew him as the sound vibration robot man thing. It elevanted my enjoyment of the character in the MCU. The remaining stories were all good, though, I felt like Johnny was out of character at times. It also got weird how the Lockjaw teleportation bit worked and having all of that be for nothing since Blackbolt freed everyone from the dome seemed a bit anti-climatic. Hell, if he was able to do that, why didn't he do that in the first place? Anyway, I enjoyed the Doom Surfer story a lot more this time around than I did last time. There are still some parts that don't work for me, but overall, it was a solid arc. I hope when Hasbro does a new proper Doctor Doom, they pack him with the surf board they gave Surfer. :-) I'm probably going to hold off until the summer time to start Volume 3 since Amazing Spider-Man 4 comes out in a few weeks and I hope to get the JMS Omnibus for my birthday. |

To fuel this off-topic post, I’ll respond. Check out Marvel Unlimited if you’re so into back issues. I’ve been using it for about a year, and it has pretty much all of the classic silver age stuff. That said, I know that some people hate the digital aspect of it, because they prefer paper. It’s a lot cheaper than buying a whole lot of omnibi, although the omnibi are cooler. But regardless, great comics. My personal favorite from the Kirby-Lee Fantastic Four was sixty-seven, the first Adam Warlock.
I had no idea Adam Warlock premiered in FF, I'm definitely looking forward to that when I get there. Back on topic, apparently the Caliban wave is starting to show up in some stores. I hope not. I don't have the money for another wave yet.

Update on my injury. As you can see its healing up nicely. Its no longer bleeding slightly, has scabbed over and in some spots fused back together. Its no Deadpool healing factor but for about 12 days since my surgery i think its going well.
![]() Sadly no caliban wave sightings in my area and all tarjeys are cleared outta okoye wave figs, though it sucks as i needed a tchalla for a custom.

Yeah, I hate digital comics and I can't read them. I also would rather be holding something physical as I read them and turning the pages. Plus, having to zoom in and out for text annoys me. Finally, I don't mind the cost of the Omnibuses as they look nice, I love that they are oversized, and it's what I'm starting to turn my entire collection towards. I stopped buying individual comics and I can no longer justify paperback collections. Hell, the material may not be great, but I got the first volume of Doctor Strange Sorceror Supreme for $30 (which is like 40 issues) and the first Golden Age Captain America one for $22.

LOL. Thank you, my friend. I agree, no better time. They keep making the films, and I will keep building my universe. All I've ever wanted from Marvel is a complete universe, and it looks like we are about 80-85 percent there.

Holy hell what a beautiful collection and set up! You have inspired me sir! On another note what are the chances we get a Legends figure of the MCU Chitari or Hydra soldiers from AOU? |

Yah, it is the double Whammy IMO... back to back Movie waves with no heavy hitters in the line-up. I mean how many Captain Marvel and Black Panthers figs do we really need. And if it were not for Kingpin I bet the Spidey wave would pegwarm too probably... well except for Silver Sable. I'm just glad the X-men wave is already in the pipeline if stores are getting them early... otherwise I would be worried.
Let's be real...Hasbro knows who their market is with these Legends figures, and it's certainly not children. And what happens is that collectors will often plunder waves of the more desirable characters when they release, leaving behind the Nighthawks and Gwenpools whom most casuals have no idea who they are and therefore cause them to pike up on pegs, creating all sorts of shrink for retailers to deal with, until they finally have enough with it all and just stop ordering and then...stop caring. They just want the damned things to be gone and for us to stop asking if there is anything new in the back. Finally...maybe it's just me, but when was the last time one of you truly ENJOYED a purchase for longer than a day or three? I have found it to be impossible this year so far...because the second I get one, I'm already on the lookout for the next fig because social media is already telling me that the new wave is dropping somewhere. This happened to me today when I finally received my Hercules in the mail, and after tinkering with it for about 10 minutes, I found myself walking into a random Walgreens I hadn't been to in a while in case they had something from the upcoming X Wave. (They didn't, just more Namors, Gwenpools and Captain Marvel figs.) By the time I got home, I placed the figure in a bag, and began scouring Ebay for auctions and new in hand photos to look at. I really wish they would push the XMen wave back towards June or July. Gripes about character selections aside, all of the figures released this year have some positive merits to them, and contrary to what Hasbro thinks, there can be too much of a good thing. A little patience to unload these things would be greatly appreciated to prevent saturation...or even worse...exhaustion with the line. Last edited by Trivial Psychic; 04-08-2019 at 07:12 PM.. |

Regarding Hasbro dropping too much at once, it seems that nothing was learned from last year's fiasco. Now I have to hope that Beta Ray Bill remains obscure/undesired enough that I can easily scoop him up online since it's looking like we might see Cull Obsidian round two.

Yeah sorry, you probably explained it at some point but I was so busy preparing for my con that happened last weekend in MN I wasn't really paying too much attention to a lot of posts.
