I wouldn't say it's Hasbro's fault. The price of manufacturing plastic has just been going up over the years.

Given the reductions hasbro has given a lotta figs ( artic accessories figs with no baf part or accessories etc ) its bs. If hasbro has to pay 5 cents more on cost then we pay dollars more. To me thats bs. I get the business aspect of it but i still hate it and aince the only wya to speak is with my wallet....thats how it will be.

On its own, the price per figure increasing to $22 doesn't really bother me. Price increases have to happen at some point and a $2 bump isn't massive. However, IT IS a problem when you consider the amount of figures Hasbro has put out this year coupled with the fact that some waves have been very weak but contained desirable BAFs. Personally, I've already started to wait for some stuff to go on sale because I felt that it wasn't worth the $20 price.
General question for everyone here; It's the end of October and it looks like we're almost done for the year. Should we wait a little longer for our Top 10 lists from 2019? I think all we have left are Grey Hulk and the vintage card Deadpool. For me: 1) Nightcrawler 2) 80th Hulk 3) 80th Thor 4) 80th Iron-Man 5) 80th Captain America 6) Beast 7) Mr. Sinister 8) Storm 9) Jean Grey 10) Power and Glory Captain America Honestly...the toughest Top 10 for me yet. Soooooo many great figures came out this year and my list will probably be totally different in like 10 minutes lol |

I'll wait until it actually is the end of the year, or maybe even the beginning of next year, to form a top 10 list for 2019 because there are still Legends due before December 31st and it is also possible the F4 wave could squeak in.

True but a lot ARE. And lets not forget the increasingly bad qc issues that plagues not only legends but sw black 6 inch figs too.

Welp, I got my Polaris and Havok set. Awesome set. Was hoping Wolfsbane would fit on the Polaris body without any work, but it does not. If it had I was going to get a second set, but I'm just pleased it arrived.

I compare the technology of today with what I had in the 80's & 90's as a kid, availability, as well as inflation rates. For example, compare the Toybiz Nightcrawler with Marvel Legends. In 1991 he was $6.99 at KB Toys. Adjusted for inflation alone, that's $13.50 today. Add to that that increase in size, articulation, sculpt, and all the other quality that's happened in 28 years... yeah, it's worth it for me. Aside from the huge drop in playsets & vehicles, we really live in the golden age of collectible toys for almost any fan. Starwars has toys from 3.75in to 12in hot toys. Marvel has action figures, plush dolls, premium figures, fashion dolls, hotwheels, you name it, it's there. We have so many options, but only one row of shelving at Walmarts and Target, Amazon, or collectibles stores with higher expense costs/higher prices. Gone are Toys R Us in every town. Gone are Lionel Playworlds. Gone are the toy catalogs of Sears, Montgomery Wards, Service Merchandise, etc. Grocery stores rarely carry action figures today. If I have to pay a few dollars more to pay for what I want, it's worth it.

Finally, I found Dani!
Note: Hasbro has really stepped up their game with the female figures lately. Thanks, Hasbro.

These are luxury items I don't need to survive. It's like MLB baseball. In 1990 I could quote you every player's stats, college, and watched every game on tv. Then the strike happened and I discovered so many other things to do. I never went back to baseball and can't watch a game on tv at all. Can go to a stadium, but rarely make it 9 innings.
I believe this price hike was coming tariffs or not. Anybody remember that survey Hasbro put out a year or so back? Several of those questions had to deal with price increases. IMO, Hasbro is just using the tariffs as a convenient cover for a price increase that they had already planned. That's the majority? I've always felt like the oddball here because I rarely buy anything at full retail price. |

With the collectors market, which is honestly a VERY tiny percentage of global sales, it's different. There are many different levels of collectors. There are the people are almost OCD about their toys one way or another. They will preorder to make sure they get the chaser figure, want perfect boxes, and will send a figure back to the seller if there is so much as speck of blemish on packaging or toy itself. They try to wheel and deal at collectibles shops. They go in and try to haggle the price of figures. There are the average collectors, those are the people that don't mind looking for a figure locally. They enjoy the hunt, and if they can't find the figure, or it's not MISC/MISB it's ok. If there's a sale, they'll check it out just to satisfy the plastic crack addiction. These are the majority of collectors, and are often collectors that started a hobby with their kids. Then the "lowest rung" of the collector ladder, the ocassional collector. These are the rarest, who really don't care about toys, per se, but will pick up a toy if it talks to them. 90% of these are spouses of the other collectors or parents of kids. They are impulse shoppers only, so hooking them on price is important.

Finally have my complete 90s team (with Nightcrawler thrown in because he's one of my favorites.
Still a couple more X-Men I'd like to throw in there who weren't exactly with this team, but beyond happy to have the core Jim Lee lineup on my shelf. |

Yup it's a good feeling to have the Jim Lee Blue/Gold teams done. I also throw in Nightcrawler and Shadowcat because they were such iconic characters for the X-Men mythos up to that point. We only need a Shadowcat in blue to have it completed.

GameStop just called to let me know the wolverine, Scott, and jean pack is in.
And other than kitty pride, what’s a good body for the wolfsbane head and hands from the Dani threeish pack. |

Also when was the last time the main core team was completed in action figure form? The early 90's X-men line? I know the old Toy Biz Legends line didn't have 90's Jean or Jubilee I think. And I will never forgive Marvel Universe for dying before being able to complete my 3.75" X-men display. Marvel Select are still trying to finish the 90's X-men even after a decade of putting out stuff and not even Funko Pops have completed the 90's X-men. But Hasbro Legends came through in fine form. For me I consider Bishop, Longshot, Forge, Shadowcat, Night Crawler, Multiple Man and Banshee to be essential to any good guy 90's X-men display... so they get to stay in the X-Mansion. And the fact that we got 90's Cable and Havok and Shatterstar and are still getting a few others like Sunspot and Strong Guy just blows my mind. |

Over all I think after four years of almost no X-Men product, and then four years of an increasing deluge of X-Men product, Hasbro realized that even with the MCU, the X-Men figures is the sweet spot for the money.
Four years ago we had almost nothing X-Men wise from Hasbro. the two primary X-Men waves, the Puck and Jubilee waves, were hard to find exclusives. We only had Jean, Archangel, and I can't recall but surely a Wolverine, since ROML. Four years --- NAY 3 and a half years !!! - later and we have gotten an almost complete line of the heroes of the X-mythos and quite a few of their villains including all of their A-list villains. I look forward to seeing more though. Bring on the bad guys! Generation X! Excalibur! New X-Men (not the well written but awfully drawn run*, the Kyle/Yost run) GSXM STORM for god's sake! * seriously, if they tried to go for comic likeness, the figures from Morrison's run would look hideous. just stuff a bunch of bleached prunes on the Ghost Rider body and be done with it. |
