It is possible to have a boomer stance on a subject and not actually be a boomer. Typically people who have a "get off my lawn" attitude or "my generation is better then yours" come across as boomers.
I agree that the over sensationalized 90's art was ridiculous but its what I enjoyed growing up reading comics in that era. At the end of the day, art is all subjective. I didn't care for Christopher Reeve's portrayal and would rather my ideal version of Superman be evolved to what he is today in having the physique of someone who could actually perform those magnificent feats. Toys are still loved by lots of kids. I have a 12 year old who has become more enamored with technology at this point but I did let her play with some of the 3.75" MU figures a few times and she enjoyed it. We have another on the way and damn sure i'm going to have that kid playing with Marvel Legends and other action figures. Any of us who are parents need to keep the action figure play alive and its always a good idea to instill the collectors mentality into a childs mind so that they can appreciate and potentially take care of our collections when we are gone. When dealing with non Boomers acting like Boomers the proper response is "Sure, Jan" I've started training my nephew to be a collector, not an easy task with a three year old, but he loves the Hulk and Spidey so we go from there |

My orders from Target are arriving on Thursday. If tax didn’t increase then I would have stuck with Target for the 2 waves since the Redcard 5% off comes in handy and the total would have been around the same as Dorkside.
Speaking of Dorkside, no email response yet about the 2 Mavericks. Hopefully soon because I was already charged for them. I have Marvel Select Spectacular Spider-Man in one of my other orders. The head is too big but I know the camera will go fine with my Retro Pizza Spider-Man. I’ll see if the Marvel Select hands can work as well. I saw the WWE Slambulance in person and it has potential for some setups and pics with Marvel Legends. I might get it if it goes on sale or clearance. I gave my kid the Spider-Man figure that came with the Disney Toybox Spider-Mobile.

I was just remembering how the first 8 marvel legends series from ToyBiz had bases/dioramas. I definitely don't think it should be a regular thing to include given economic feasability for both Hasbro and us, as well as it being a space issue for many, likely relegated to going into a bin or staying in the box rather than being displayed with the figure. But every once in a while with deluxe figures or something I think would be a great idea. I pulled out my 80th anniversary Grey Hulk today and he's my absolute favorite of figure release using this mold. But as I played with him I longed for the idea of him having come with a desert base with just a cactus on it and maybe a government warning sign. I don't know. Do any of you think that could be a good idea? Can you think of any characters that could or should come with some sort of base.

Yeah and weren't the ones for series 9 also going to have action features? Like I think the fire hydrant on that 1st Appearance Hulk's base was going to be able to launch like a spring loaded missile toy.

I for one loved the bases (especially the SENTINEL bases) but I've come to enjoy the BAF even more. I feel like we are getting a discounted figure that would normally be a deluxe figure or cost an extra $20.

The problem with BAFs still being that they only reward people that purchase the entire (or nearly entire) wave. This is why I am so glad Hasbro has maintained this trend of redoing BAFs on their own or in multipacks and I'm really hoping that Rhino is next.

@En Sabah Nerd - I agree, I'd love to see the Rhino get a re-release and/or Deluxe figure next. It'd be nice to finally own a new Rhino figure that didn't have the screaming face for the classic head sculpt. I'd even take an armored/Sinister Syndicate era 80s Rhino at this point. Sandman needs the same treatment too, hopefully with alternate normal arms included. Of course, I'd just love to see more classic Spidey villain figures since the retro wave is so awesome. I swear, if we get new classic figures of characters like Doc Ock with bendable wire tentacles (please, Hasbro -- this is a must, along with a Cannonball with legs), Lizard and Hobgoblin with alternate heads, I'd buy every single one!
I also prefer bases over the Build-A-Figure piece, because it's usually a figure of A.) some version of Hulk, B.) a big character like Abomination or Juggernaut that they could make into a deluxe figure, C.) a lesser known character they could've packed in a two-pack or boxed set, or D.) a popular character like Sandman or Absorbing Man who could've justifiably have been sold as a sold-separately figure. The Toy Biz Marvel Legends Captain America remains one of my all-time favorites with the display base, American flag and having the straps on the inside of his shield accessory, which Hasbro hasn't included in their Cap figures recently. If Hasbro's reading this, I hope we get a Hulk wave in the foreseeable future. It'd really be nice to buy a sold-separately Hulk figure instead of having to see the character stuck as a convention exclusive, part of a two-or-more pack of figures, or being a mentioned Build-A-Figure. It'd be a great way to get new variations of Hulk (classic gray with a Todd McFarlane art-based alternate head, classic green savage, Mr. Fix-It, brown Pantheon era jumpsuit Professor Hulk, etc.) and more Hulk villains (Zzzax, Ringmaster, Tyrannus, classic Abomination, etc.). We're long overdue on showing some Marvel Legends attention for The Incredible Hulk. |

Abomination (Classic) Absorbing Man (Classic Purple pants) Zzzax (90s Hulk cartoon) Leader (Freehold) Wendigo (Classic no antlers) Bi-Beast (2008 Movie Video Game) Ravage (2003 Movie Video Game) Mercy (Ultimate Destruction Video Game) |

I'd love to see some Iron Man, Fantastic Four and Hulk Classics with card backs based on their animated series from the 90's. So many cool characters to be had.

No response from Dorkside but I’ll see if they respond by the end of the week.

@Starlord67 - I know there was a rektangular video on YouTube somewhere that mentioned a retro Fantastic Four might be in the works, and one of the recent Marvel Legends interviews said we'll be seeing "more Iron Man" so I assume a new Marvel Legends Iron Man toyline could be coming up sooner rather than later. I'd just love to see them get more figures of the Hulk, his supporting cast and his enemies, is all. There are so many Hulk characters for Hasbro left to make into new figures. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we may get civilian Hulk figures too, like Bruce Banner, Rick Jones, General Ross and Betty Ross-Banner.

Congratulations on your pre-orders, @Dodge76! By the time I found out about the links, everyone was gone. If I get the $$$, I'll pre-order Green Goblin and the ever-elusive yet truly amazing Spider-Man, as well as Mysterio. I was lucky enough to get Electro and Gwen Stacy pre-ordered from Amazon though. I'm in no rush to get them -- for now, I'm just glad I pre-ordered two of the figures I wanted most.
As a side note, that really sucks what they did to Scarlet Witch. She's one of my all-time favorite Marvel characters too. Then again, I haven't bought and read a 616 Marvel Comic since Sins Past/Civil War/One More Day ruined Spider-Man. |

I knew I wasn't crazy. I knew I saw a beautiful magnificent stupendous custom somewhere of Xemnu. Here it is. Hopefully Hasbro will one day make one as gorgeous.

I am kind of hoping that Hasbro will release the Gamerverse Abomination next year as a deluxe with a more comic color and comic head sculpt. I have the Gamerverse version and it is great except that head is just .......crap.
