That's exactly how I felt. I specifically told a friend "the only thing I liked about Dark Phoenix is that Dazzler shows up, in her classic look." It was so brief too, her entire screen time could be captured in a gif or two but hands down that's the only "pro" the movie will get from me.

I liked Dark Phoenix. It wasn’t great but it was still entertaining to me.

The body of Boseman's work is really pretty impressive and more poignant than some might realize on first blush, especially given the brevity with which his light shined. The bulk of Boseman's impact will likely be attributed to Black Panther and the cultural 'importance' some attribute to this role. Personally, I believe this to be just a tad overblown, but only because I've been an advocate and proponent of Pan-African inter-connectivity since I learned about the concept when reading about luminaries like Du Bois and Garvey as a preteen - coupled with the reality that the character of BP, despite my love for it, represents a fictionally idealized construct neither owned, controlled, nor consistently influenced by the diaspora it's meant to target thus offering little in the way of sustained/actual empowerment. However, in spite of my opinions, I understand the importance of this flick to many and don't mean to diminish that in any way. However, that said, this man was thoughtful and deliberate in ALL of his roles choosing to portray a litany of important culture figures and participate in weighty conceptual theatrical works all throughout his career. Whether he was putting in that WORK on autobiographical efforts for individuals like Thurgood Marshal, Jackie Robinson, or James Brown. Or, if he was portraying fantastical characters like BP and Thoth; Chadwick was steadfast in delivering/introducing audiences to ideas outside the purview of mainstream cinema and for that, I will sorely miss him.
In an age in which societies worldwide have grown more intolerant to expressions and cultures different from their own, I hope people can remember how Chadwick Boseman may have touched them with is innate grace, regal nature, and ultimately humble bearing. We all have qualities that resonate within others and I hope in mourning Chadwick's passing we can remember the ties that bind are more important than the bullshit that separates... Quote:
I dunno, I just personally think it's in poor taste. The man's not even been laid to rest yet and people are already trying to think of who could fill his job? I'd feel pretty crappy if I knew my job was trying to line up a replacement hours after my death (they'd have to eventually, but just give a day at the least!) Again, just my opinion.
I really wish people wouldn't be bitter or upset over reviewers getting figures early. For one, most of them overpay on the secondary market like anyone else can do. Secondly, I'm glad when reviewers get figures early. It gives me a chance to help figure out if I actually want to pick the figure up. Not to mention, a guy like Shartimus Prime has been doing this for years and i'm sure has brought a good amount of revenue to Hasbro getting people further interested in the line which helps them keep putting out great figures for all of us. Sure he makes money off of YouTube but he's a real collector like most of us are.

I look forward to your celebration of Chadwick. I have enjoyed reading your posts, finding them to be thoughtful, mature, open to reflection, and generally kindhearted. |

My Nimrod set hit the local sorting office early this morning. It's still set for delivery tomorrow but I wouldn't be completely shocked if it arrived today. Either way major thanks to Hasbro and Amazon for getting these produced and shipped so early.
Hasbro really has been on their toes this year, except for a couple of items, and even then, those haven't necessarily been due to Hasbro directly. |

Looks like the hellfire club set will be available around the 25th. I assume Hasbropulsecon is how they will release all the non-sdcc stuff. |

Really not looking forward to a repeat of the SDCC Retro Hulk from last year, especially since this boxset will be even more sought after. And I imagine a lot of people will be pissed if it's the same old preorder shenanigans that we've seen for the majority of 2020. |

My 2 Psylocke, Nimrod, and Fantomex sets arrived on the weekend. I’m picking them up today.
My 2 Hellfire Club sets should be coming in by DHL today. My 2 Moon Knights should be coming in tomorrow.

Ah I see the reveal for retro Dr. Doom. Pretty good decision on Hasbro's part. I won't be getting myself but I totally understand the desire. that is, indeed "Fantastic". Doom! Doom to all! Well, that explains the "soft goods" comment.

Well the Doctor Doom with soft goods is a surprise. I'm not a leave in package kind of guy but I really like the design choice of the packaging. This will probably replace the last Legends Doom.
Am I missing something or is it only that small top piece thats actually cloth? I was expecting a full cloth cape.

Looks like it's just the cowl neck that's soft goods.

It's funny I was just watching the 90s show yesterday. I can't wait to see a whole wave on the retro cards

I'm good on Doom. The cloth thing around his chest just looks so out of place with the rest of the figure. I don't get why it is there.

So since this does hint towards the vintage line for 2021 being F4, what 6 figures would everyone want to see? I know I mentioned not too long ago about splitting the 4 up to two waves, but if it's a vintage card back there's going to be people who want all 4 in one look. so:
all four main four in classic blue/white Kang Either Crystal or Wizard. I mean I personally would pass on the four, but I'd get Kang, Crystal or Wizard. |

So after being disapointed and relieved on doctor doom, i thought we have some nice easter eggs here. Also hasbro as we know loves to re-use everything.
- The Book of Vishanti ! , Potentially a tease to classic Dr.Strange - The Soft Goods, erm shoulder cloth thingy, could be used for 2 characters Master Mind and Toad though leaning towards toad. - The Darkhold book also owned by Dr.Strange, Chthon (an elder god in marvel), Morgan Le Fay, and finally Carnage (Cletus Kasady). This Purely my own observations and wishful thinking of getting a classic doctor strange look. |

There is zero doubt in my mind that we'll see the blue and white F4 suits show up in this retro line.
Outside of that, my brain's spinning thinking of the other two figures. Ronan? Mole Man? Wizard? Even Crystal? |

I hope they split the core F4 over two waves so they can get more new characters out, also I wonder if they'll do a completely translucent Sue like the 90s line did

I agree, the retro waves have been really cool so far. I already have the FF set but would seriously consider picking up the entire FF team in a retro wave with the more cartoonish blue/white colors.
