I’ll be using the flame effects from the Force Link Boba Fett for Pyro like this.

^ Geez. Nimrod just owned them all... I didn't realize he is such a formidable foe... need to do a deep dive on him I guess.

In the universe he comes from Nimrod is the final sentinel. He represents the culmination of the program which virtually eradicated mutants from the planet. This isn't to say that he's totally unstoppable since there are characters (mostly introduced later) who outclass him but he is incredibly formidable.

I believe most of what makes Nimrod (or any Sentinel, for that matter) such a threat is the ability to rapidly analyze the powers of a mutant combatant and develop counter measures to neutralize said target. While Nimrod certainly has plenty of power at its disposal, I've seen it overwhelmed, severely damaged, and even retreat.
Nimrod is quite deadly, for sure, but I'd rank a few other mechanized monstrosities a bit higher on the threat scale. While nowhere near as sentient as Nirmod, The Fury is considerably unrelenting. Several alternate reality Captain Britains were killed by The Fury and it nearly took out a fairly powerful assortment of X-men that included Bishop, Cannonball, Storm, and Rachel in their ranks. Both characters share similar abilities but The Fury seems significantly more durable as a byproduct of the Jaspers Warp. Also, The Fury can analyze and adapt to any super-being, while I believe Nimrod may be limited to mutants (I'm not exactly sure). I have no idea what Nimrod's been up to post 2010ish, so maybe there have been new wrinkles added. Anything is possible in modern Marvel. For instance, I just found out that Sunspot is Earth's physically strongest mutant and is in league with the Hulk now (???)...he's also no longer Afro-Brazilian (???). Anyway, tethering this back to toys in my effort stay on topic: Now that I have Nimrod, I'm not sure where I stand with this amalgam. The figure representation is somewhere between old and new Nimrod...I like it for what it is, but it does seem a bit weird. |

Stopped by my ghetto Walgreens yesterday and they had 2 Moon Knights and 2 IM 2020. I have both already. Hopefully a fellow collector in the area that needs them will stop by.

Nimrod is the "Ultimate" Sentinel, more formidable than the Omega class "Hunter/Killer" Sentinels. He is level 100 tons in the strength dept, has a vast array of offensive weapons & various defensive weapons & can develop countermeasures to any mutant he encounters. I don't know how he would do against a non mutant being such as Thor or the Hulk, though I would imagine that he would give both a helluva fight & possibly come out on top.
Description of Nimrod: "Nimrod is the ultimate Sentinel robot. It is the epitome of Sentinel technology and as such bears the latest artificial intelligence and weapon systems of the 21st century. It is able to manipulate high intensity energy fields. This gives it the abilities to: Move objects around. Emit ultra powerful energy blasts. Project force fields. Disintegrate matter. And even teleport itself. Nimrod possesses a very advanced artificial intelligence. It is capable of critical combat tactics and evaluation, although it is not a very fast thinker. A multitude of sensors including a futuristic Cerebro, telescopic eyes and a powerful radio transmitter and receiver makes it effective at tracking down its prey. Its robotic body construction is the toughest possible. Powerful engines grants it superhuman strength and endurance. It can also change its appearance to resemble that of any human, something that comes in handy living among them. Lastly it is equipped with a powerful learning program. It enables him to defeat any opponent after combat analysis. It is even capable of temporarily removing any psionic powers the targets may possess. As a mutant hunter it, of course, is programmed with all available information about any dead or living mutant known. No sense in trying to get away… you won’t be able to. |

Been a fan of this character since his creation, I like to think I am pretty well versed in the character during his 1st few yrs or so, I kinda stopped following him when they merged him with Bastion during the siege perilous story arc & started doing all sorts of dumb things with him. Anyways, here's the continuation of his battle vs the X-Men.

Yeah, me too. I loved his introduction in Uncanny X-Men series leading up to issue 200 (I forget the exact issue number). John Romita Jr.'s design just really grabbed me...I really loved the streamlined look he gave him and he had an interesting personality as well. I stopped reading the series before I found out where they were ultimately going with him, but I remember the human family he befriended and noticed that they were attempting to "humanize" him a bit. I'm currently re-reading Uncanny now from the beginning and I'm looking forward to revisiting the Chris Claremont/Romita Jr. stuff especially, and seeing were the Nimrod story went.
Great pics of Nimrod vs. the X-Men, BTW. Glad you're using the classic head...I can't wait to get my hands on a Nimrod myself! |

I bet if gilbert godfrey started making fun of his name it might confuse him....or piss him off. Either way it'd be fun to watch the results.

Whatever Hasbro is doing with these new barbell neck pegs, they need to stop.
Why use them if you’re going to make the range of motion WORSE than a disk hinge?. |

Nimrod is certainly a badass and I was also there for the ride when he was first created, as JRJR's run on X-men was one of my first dedicated weekly books. Romita Jr. is one of my favorite artists of all time and I essentially followed him from book to book for most of my reading life.
Now, I wouldn't refer to myself as either an authority nor a super-fan of the character (that's reserved for the likes of Surfer/Spidey, Hulk, Namor, Dr. Strange etc - not really, but I'd like to believe so), however I'm real familiar with Nimrod and he's just not as durable as Legend(s) (yuk, yuk...see that?) would have it - From his debut appearance, we see an inexperienced Rogue absorb the powers of neutralized team members (Kitty, Nightcrawler, and Colossus) to send him packing in singular combat ultimately forcing him to retreat from the field: https://www.turboimagehost.com/p/19991355/9.png.html (Nice hair, Rogue, that look was really working for you) https://www.turboimagehost.com/p/19991356/10.png.html https://www.turboimagehost.com/p/19991357/11.png.html A few issues later, Nimrod emerges once again as a world beater, but also gets overwhelmed...again: https://www.turboimagehost.com/p/19991212/11.png.html (After being dragged to the ground by Leland's garvity based abilities, Nimrod ends up in Colossus' mitts after being submerged in the earth - for the life of me, just can't remember how he got there) https://www.turboimagehost.com/p/19991213/12.png.html (Aided by the element of surprise, Peter proceeds to to thrash him about like a rag doll doing significant damage - it's important to note that at this point Peter could only press 70-75 tons and had not been gravely injured by Riptide - meaning, he hadn't received his first strength augmentation) https://www.turboimagehost.com/p/19991214/13.png.html (Taking this type of punishment and such obvious visible damage makes me a bit dubious of Nimrod being class 100 - to be fair, one can be strong, while not being invulnerable - it definitely calls in to question the character's ability to take punishment) https://www.turboimagehost.com/p/19991215/14.png.html (Here we see that Nimrod was COMPLETELY incapacitated by the Colossus beating, but healing nonetheless, albeit slowly) https://www.turboimagehost.com/p/19991216/15.png.html (Off-screen {or off-scan} a Sebastian Shaw whom had been launched in to low earth orbit by Nimrod was brought back with Leland's aid as a living meteor strike against the helpless Nimrod - who retreats, again) Here's a more recent, but still old Nimrod battle in which he's doing his thingee thang looking all impressive and shit, until he isn't, ultimately getting bested - semi easily - by a collection of neophyte X-men pups - https://www.turboimagehost.com/p/19991658/12.png.html (Look at that armor shred like wet Charmin - too bad he isn't made of adamantium, like Ultron...Do they not have that in Marvel's future???) https://www.turboimagehost.com/p/19991659/13.png.html (Good one, Nims, you showed her....too bad she heals much faster than you...) https://www.turboimagehost.com/p/19991660/14.png.html (Even Mercury is threatening damage to the ultimate Sentinel) https://www.turboimagehost.com/p/19991661/15.png.html (uhhh...yup, that hurt) https://www.turboimagehost.com/p/19991662/16.png.html https://www.turboimagehost.com/p/19991663/17.png.html https://www.turboimagehost.com/p/19991664/18.png.html (...and...he retreats...or maybe destroyed? Dunno..) Now, don't get me wrong, I truly dig me some Nimrod and have been waiting for this fig just as long as anyone and I am very happy to finally have it. However, contrary to what some may believe, I don't just spout off hackneyed shit. If I say something, I'm saying it out of reference to some experience or understanding. I wouldn't classify things I share as canonical law, pfft, yeah, riiiight, but they're generally sourced to some type of degree. Long live Nimrod...or, at least, may he always retreat in a timely manner after having his ass handed to him...*jokes! Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 09-13-2020 at 07:43 PM.. The thing about Nimrod is that yeah, he can be damaged in battle but given time, can repair all damage up to & including being reduced to powder. When severely damaged, he will retreat to heal up, but you won't beat him the same way twice.
