... ...I'm weeping tears of joy, it's the little Morg that's been running around killing the denizens of a Galactus targeted world that, until now, has only lived in my heart and fondest dreams. *choke* He's so beautiful...*sob* Looks like I'm getting more Galacti, fellas!!! |

Weren't some of you stressing about Galactus last week or something... and now you are getting 3 addition figures maybe... nice turn around I must say.
And I guess someone in San Fran found Nova at Walgreens. I guess the hunt begins. It sucks though that looks like the price is 24 dollars now. Walgreens and Best Buy were the only stores here that had Legends still at $19.99... finding Legends there always felt like a small gift. And also I remember Dark Surfer only being 2 per store and not at every store anymore... I'm thinking Nova will be even harder to find since a lot of people still need a Nova for display. |

They are going to have to scramble and throw Firelord in, or face an embarrassing failure to even hit one stretch goal. I know there are a lot of fans/apologists for "The Big Three" (I really hope they didn't crown themselves with that name....ohhh, the hubris), but this was botched pretty badly. It wouldn't have killed them to make the first tier a 2 herald unlock considering the number of choices. Additionally, the insertion of a Surfer retread was a straight dummy move reeking of both greed and laziness. And I don't want to hear about the costly construction of bucks/molds as this is an earmarked project and any additional costs pale in comparison to whatever the price tag is/was for tooling Galactus. How any well-heeled toy project-manager who presumably follows toy-media doesn't have even a cursory understanding that Nova and Firelord are atop almost everyone's list is simply beyond me.
....and this from someone that really, really, really wants this to happen. Someone that has already signed on for 2 and is still willing to potentially pick up more, IF they come correct. Meh. As it stands, I'll still get a mighty impressive toy out of it all, but it appears I'll still be waiting to scratch those herald itches. EDIT To Hasbro...show me Firelord and I will get another. Extend that tease list to Redshift, Morg, Stardust, etc and I'll follow up accordingly. Quote:

Agreed. The silly stretch-goal secrecy represents counterintuitive marketing to the extent that it almost smacks as amateurish. As you point out, the whole coy nature of the 'Easter-Egg' approach to reveals and 'oh boy, what's on Ryan's shelf/mind today???' is beyond infantilizing. Without being privy to the numbers, I'd hazzard to guess that the people that love this sort of thing don't buy in 'waves'. Instead, they're likely buying one-offs here and there, which is fine as there's room for all. However, for collectors that still buy nearly everything, speaking for myself only, this shit has long since become tedious. Just tell me what I can expect, leading me around by the nose with glimpses of a foot here and a hand there will only have the opposite effect. The fatigue inspired by this tactic is bleeding through on this thread, if I take the comments I've read at face value. I only visit the Ark for toy news now and no longer frequent other sites like TheFwoosh, but I imagine a similar exhaustion is developing in a more global sense.
In any event, I'm happy with how things turned out, if not fully satisfied. Galactus is incredible, Nova's finally here, and at least I got one of my most coveted herald longshots and he looks stupendous. Nice job Hasbro! Get me my other heralds STAT and deluxe that Tyrant and Alpha Ray!!! ...it never ends. Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 08-28-2021 at 08:45 AM.. |

I actually don't think there is anything else Hasbro could offer beyond dioramas that I would have any interest in as far as Haslab stuff goes at this point.

That's interesting because I couldn't see myself paying $300-$400 for a Hasbro diorama due to a host of different reasons. The level of detail I've see from just a handful of expert dio makers doesn't really translate to mass production. Skilled dio makers IMO are creating art and each dio has a distinctly representative style/expression that validates the worth of the work. I've both commissioned and purchased (pre-made works that I had no input in the creation of) quite a few dios and I can tell you that they take up a GREAT deal of space, even when they can be disassembled. Finally, outside of the front gate of the Avengers or X-men mansions, the Danger Room, and the roof of the Daily Bugle, I just can't think of many locals that might be iconic enough to stir any interest for me. Richards' lab might look just like Banner's, Pym's, or Tony's. That said, I'm sure some people might be as interested as you. Beyond the Bat Cave and Fortress of Solitude (two unrelated licenses) and a couple of the others I mentioned, I just don't see it.

Did anyone else get an email from Pulse saying Surtur was delayed from September to December?

How about a Blackbird with various 1/18 X teams as tiers? It couldn't be totally in-scale because it'd be longer than most people are tall, but knock off a foot and a half to get a nice 4.5' long display piece going, and I don't think anyone would be complaining too hard about the sizing

Interesting. I just found out a Jack Russel (EDIT: or Jake, apparently) show is coming to Disney+. I still refuse to add the service; if it ain't on Netflix or Amazon, I ain't seeing it. However, streaming choices aside, I'm all for a revisit of Werewolf By Night.

On the subject of dioramas, I'd be down for that, just not at 400 lol. The 6" DBZ Dragon Stars line had a cool little Budokai stage at around $40 bucks, and I'd be cool with something like that. Maybe a Sanctum Sanctorum room or the Danger Room or a building for Spidey.

I think something approaching proper playsets would be cool. Built around display more than play, probably, but a dingy alley with fire escapes and breakaway sections of brick. plenty of footpegs on the walls for Spidey or places to hook DD's club?
A high-tech research lab with parts and signage to swap it between locations, like Stark or Reed, with tiers adding on equipment like lit Hall of Armor cases for IM figures or cool pieces of sci-fi tech and weaponry that wouldn't be feasible for regular releases? Or a configurable Danger Room built so multiple units could be connected or stacked, big enough to get a Haslab Sentinel in there between the mashers? ![]() |

...also, Coulson doesn't exist in any of my photos (hence why he's also getting a body tossed in his face) nor do any of the MCU actors' cobbled heads for that matter. They are nameless and faceless criminal bystanders, beaten miscreants, or hapless 'normals' to lay strewn about on the staging ground. I think only the original Chadwick head and Henwick are satisfying enough as castings for me to use them as their comic personas. For instance, this isn't Coulson with a Bowie-Knife toying with his nostril and Frank isn't casually propping is leg up on the head of a dead Pratt: ![]() ![]() Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 08-29-2021 at 08:53 AM.. |
