Finally got my Blob. Very pleased with it. Guess should have sold my baf Blob when he was at a premium but I have every version of Blob made and couldn't part with him

I'm curious, which do you like better? I like the new one a great deal, but I'm not ready to get rid of my BAF

Was pleasantly surprised to see the new(ish) Ant-Man at Target this morning on a milk run. Was even more surprised to see that they actually included a spacer to help keep the legs from bowing inside the box...so his pinned legs were actually pretty straight. As cool as it is to bag on Hasbro...gotta give them some credit here...they heard the complaints and responded. Hopefully they keep doing this in the future with pinned figures cause it made a difference for sure here.

I recently opened someone and saw this too. I'm glad they try to keep the legs straight. It's good to see they are trying to combat some QC issues.
Blue, if I may shamelessly self promote myself... this video might help answer your question. ![]() https://youtu.be/HxU9i8pkOzs |

MODOK was one that had had no problem changing over. I believe I actually sold off the old on in hope of a new one being made. But if I recall, the Toy Biz figures occasionally has QC issues and my copy of the BAF MODOK had some issues. I might be alone there. |

I've never seen a single instance in which I thought an old ToyBiz figure looked better or even on par with a new Marvel version. At all. Like not even remotely. ToyBiz figures all have wonky proportions, really weird articulation schemes, and comparing the sculpts is like,"What? do you people not have eyes?" Is it because a lot of y'all grew up with them? Is it a nostalgia thing? Looking at the Deluxe Blob compared that old TB version...it's not even a question which is better. The new version blows the old gross one out of the water. It looks like the best Blob figure ever created. So what gives? Last edited by firmpulse; 05-18-2023 at 01:39 PM.. |

My dudes. I have a serious question. Because this is a discussion I see a lot. Way more than it seems like I should. For the life of me I don't see why it's an actual discussion. I don't even understand why the question is EVER asked. The question being,"Which is better? The new Hasbro figure or the old ToyBiz version?"

It looks like the best Blob figure ever created. So what gives? I think this comes up because there are still some Toy Biz figs that do a better job of capturing an iconic (completely subjective) look for whatever character it may be. While many of these figs haven’t aged well from a contemporary standards standpoint, due to choices in interpretation and instances of unique tooling/detailing, the older versions sometimes maintain a foothold in the psyche of collectors. It seems more common with iconic villains like Sandman, Rhino, Mysterio, and Shocker; figures that lingered on many personal displays despite technically “superior” (‘newer’) versions being available on shelves. Larger figures also seem to have greater longevity. It wasn’t until the 80th Hulk that I was willing to retire some of my ToyBiz Hulks, but I will likely never let go of any of them even if they are all remade - something I want given Hasbro’s sincere efforts with the new Hulk design. Back to the Blob and my opinion that it’s a wash between the two figures. I have always considered the grotesqueness of the Blob to be the point of Dukes' visual manifestation. When I encountered him in comics, he was usually depicted as inhumanly massive with rolls and mounds of undulating cellulite, so much so that a hero could be caught fast in his massive girth. This Blob looks… polite. Which, in my opinion, is just stupid. However, I like ‘good-looking’-Blob too, I just didn’t need him, or ‘lateral promotion’-MODOK. That said, I got them both as they fit better with their contemporaneous linemates than do the older versions. Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 05-18-2023 at 03:36 PM.. |

It looks like the best Blob figure ever created. So what gives? I get what you're saying...and agree with most of it, but there are still a few Toybiz Legends that I feel hold up (and in some cases...are equal to even better) to their Hasbro counterparts. Up until the recent Ultimate Captain America, I still felt that Toybiz's series 1 was as good of a Cap there's ever been. The colors , shield, and headsculpt were perfect, even the tribute Cap fell short. I have similar feelings for Series 4 Punisher (the Riders version was good...but I don't feel like Hasbro has quite done Frank right yet) and the Seies 7 Apocalypse (as well as his Build A Figure counterpart) are near perfect representations outside those hideous hip ball joints. The Toybiz Sentinel is a work of art...and even though the Haslab was super cool...I can't honestly say it's better than it. (Bigger doesn't exactly mean better...especially when the wobbly knees keep mine from standing properly.) My Haslab Sentinel is Mastermold in my collection, while my Toybiz versions are the primary foe to my X-Men. My opinions only of course...but again...I won't disagree with you on the majority of what you said. Especially on the female character side of things. Though I wonder if the artists at Toybiz had access to a lot of the digital sculpting and painting techniques that Hasbro has these days, if we would feel the same way. Always fun to speculate...✌️ Last edited by Trivial Psychic; 05-18-2023 at 03:57 PM.. |

I used to feel that TB BAFs had an edge, especially Apocalypse and Sentinel, but now I feel that at very least, they're even with what we've got from Hasbro. |

The new release is much better in all respects. The baf version was always a bit too grotesque for me. My ideal blob figure would be more akin to his original appearance or the John Byrne version for the first couple volumes of the Handbook. Basically, 6 foot, 500 pound, "extra strong freak".

Well my Monet shipped from Amazon. Not just "got a notice" shipped. Actually shipped out and is supposed to arrive tomorrow. That's great and waiting a bit on the rest of the wave.
It's probably fruitless, but I'm holding out hope that Monet's face looks more like what's on the box art, not the preview/marketing figures. |

There are very few TB ones I think haven’t been surpassed (aside from the obvious ones that Hasbro hasn’t done yet like Werewolf by Night or the Young Avengers), but Abomination is the one that immediately comes to mind.

Yeah, every video review I've seen also suggests Monet's microcephaly was merely an optical illusion of some sort.
On the topic of pinheads, can anyone confirm whether or not the head of Short Round (from the Indiana Jones Adventure Series) will fit realistically on an adult-sized 1:12 scale figure? Because I'm strongly considering creating a custom of Marvel Legends spokesperson Dan Yun.

Thanks ya'll! Monet arrived, she definitely looks closer to what's on the box than the reveal/marketing figure they used. It's somewhere between the two, not as clean and the confident, near smirk she has on the box art, but it also doesn't look like she went wild with the mascara. I'm happy with her. The plastic is extremely bendy soft though...which I think has been a trend we've seen on a lot of figures of late, it's just really noticeable.

COSMIC MARVEL FANS REJOICE!!!
Rom is coming as Marvel has just regained the rights for the character. This is very good news for me and I can’t wait for the Legends team to deliver a long, long, long awaited fig for me. My first and last Rom fig was from 1979! Lol I’m pretty excited: https://www.gamesradar.com/rom-space...arly-40-years/ |
