Yeah that's a gross over exaggeration on his part.

Also people who don't realize that prices have went up IN ALL TOYS just are not wanting to deal with reality. I remember 5-6 years ago when GI Joes were 5$, now they are 10$, Marvel Legends were 8$ in the past, now they are 15$ or more. MOTUC have went up 5$ in the last 5 years, that is LESS than most other toys on the market. Deal with it people.

If people want an item bad enough, they'll pay for it. If they feel the item's worth the price, they'll pay for it. The fact that not many people are doing this for the subscription should tell you something.

I will agree I don't think it costs $25 to make the toy itself and Matell has to leave themselves at least some profit margin on the figures. I think he is also factoring the Fourhorsemen's salary for scuplting these figures, obviously his salary, and any other operating costs of the line itself that fans may not be aware of into that $25 total cost of production.

I've never argued the price as yes the figures are specialty items and are for the most part very cool items. But I do want Mattel, MattyCollector, and Digital River to all go to hell. I had 9 subscriptions for this year and more than one of my orders were screwed up several times. Items with missing parts or receiving only 1 when I ordered and was charged for 2. Long story short after not being provided with what was promised and advertised and I had cancel my bank card and therefore cancel all subscriptions. I had to resort to this after months months! of trying to resolve issues by phone/email and guess what!? The issues where never resolved. I've got plenty of emails as proof of how I got the runaround. At one point Digital River gave me the number for Mattel Consumer Relations and as it turns out they have nothing to do with MattyCollector/Digital River. I can go on and on but you guys get the idea. I say vote with your wallet and say NO.

Dear Matty/Scott,

Look, guys, I'm sorry but I have to let this line die. It's a combination of poor character choices, monthly shipping fees, and terrible service from Digital River. Even after the fans have written in, both directly and on multiple forums (including Matty's own) you still think it's ok to ignore their requests. We pay your bills, the consumers. If you don't offer us what we think is worthwhile we simply stop giving you our money. Any number of companies could make MotU figures, and better from what I've seen of their offerings. Mattel itself is a bloated corporate embarrassment to the toy industry with the last few movie lines like Green Lantern and The Dark Knight Rises just adding more nails to the coffin.

Maybe you've become so out of touch with what today's buyers want or maybe you know and don't care. Perhaps it's profit margins that has you putting out 80's style designs, your investors/board members demanding more money from a market who's price ceiling you've already hit. In any case sometimes it's best to let a company die out so that we can get some new blood to refresh a stale market. Kenner, ToyBiz, Palisades, SOTA, Resaurus, they will be missed but not forgotten. Neither will Mattel. But we the consumers can't continue to support a line, or company who cannot give us what we ask for...and ultimately deserve as paying customers.

I'll sign it, too. A very sensible and well articulated message that expresses how many of us feel. Well done, Jin.

I'm so disappointed in how things are shaping up.
