As adults who buy toys and comics and stuff we should be the last ones to point fingers at others for their hobbies really. We’re much more accepted these days thanks to mainstream superhero movies and stuff, but some of us still get laughed at or discriminated thanks to narrow-minded people like you.

And of course, many thanks to you guys for derailing a topic once again. It's not like we have some toys to talk about here on this toy-focused website, let's instead talk about off-topic garbage like if Rey is a Mary Sue or not.

I'll edit as much as I like. I didn't edit it after you replied.

Also, you're just afraid to watch the video because it will destroy your pathetic attempt at proving she's not a Mary Sue. Debating with know it alls like you is pointless.

Plus judging someone for having a Cat avatar is quite pathetic. Who are you too judge anyone? Who knows what you have laying in your closet.

You say who cares about his opinion? Well I'd say the few 56,000+ subscribers do. The real question is why should someone care about your opinion? A guy who is so afraid of losing a debate that he won't watch a video disproving all of his reasons why she isn't a Mary Sue.

You ignore because you can't debate. You ignore because you realize everything you said was disproved and the guy has one hell of a solid argument! You say things like Anakin being the first human to win a pod race as an argument why he's a Mary Sue. He lost MANY pod races before that and hadn't finished a single race before he finally won. A Mary Sue would have won the very first race without any back story on why they're good, they just are. You seem to not grasp what makes a Mary Sue, nor even know where the name comes from. Plus he lost a fight to Count Dooku and Obi-Wan... other reasons why he's not a Mary Sue or a Gary Stu as in the correct term. I could go on but why not educate yourself on what makes a Mary Sue by watching the video?

Oh I remember, he's a furry and his opinion doesn't count but your weak one does.

I'm done talking with you, you're a waste of my time. Don't bother replying, I won't read it.

Take a long walk off a short pier.

That escalated quickly.

Don't worry, the only Mary Sue in Star Wars is that kid from a desert planet who befriends a lost droid carrying secret information, escapes the planet in the Millennium Falcon, turns out to have incredible abilities in the Force, proves to be the key to defeating the planet-destroying villains, and leaves to train with an old Jedi living in seclusion.

That's not a Mary Sue. A Mary Sue is a character who is the best at everything, without having a reason why they are, they just are. They don't get beat, the don't usually need help. Luke is none of those things. He fails at picking up the X-Wing with the force. Fails at defeating Darth Vader in Empire Strikes Back. Doesn't beat the Emperor, his father does. He's not a Mary Sue in the slightest.

Watch the video, it provides great insight. She's a Mary Sue.... no one seems to provide reasons why she's not except reasons that were torn apart in the video.

This other guy has a good argument as well.

''According to Wikipedia:

'A Mary Sue or, in case of a male, Gary Stu or Marty Stu is an idealized fictional character, a young or low-rank person who saves the day through extraordinary abilities. Often but not necessarily this character is recognized as an author insert and/or wish-fulfillmen'.

Here are my arguments that Rey is a Mary Sue:

1, She has no flaws. She is in danger once in the film, and immediately overcomes it. Said danger is the main villain and arguably one of the most powerful characters to grace the series, demonstrating a level of ability with the force not witnessed before (freezing bolts in mid air).

2, She is a perfect swiss army knife of a character. She can beat people up with a staff. She can speak all the languages she needed too. She is a great scavenger. She enters the Millennial Falcon, makes it better, and flies it with precision on par with Han Solo - despite never leaving her planet, and thus, likely never having flew before. She has the force used on her by someone trained by both Luke Skywalker and Snoke, and almost immediately overpowers him with her own force powers. She later uses the force to bring Lukes sabre towards her. She also cleanly beats Kylo Ren without taking a hit.

3, She has almost love like bonds with a number of characters, despite only just meeting them. Han immediately warms to her (and she literally replaces him at the end of the film). Leia hugs her at the end of the film despite never(?) having met her.

Rey quite literally, minutes after being exposed to the force, not only out maneuvers a well versed user of force not only a blood relation to Luke Skywalker, but also trained by him and a Sith Lord. She then quite easily kicks his ass with a light sabre. That even sounds fan fiction tier. Like, if this wasn't actually in the movie, and someone wrote this, it would be laughed at.

Luke is not a Gary Stu because:

1, He's shit. He loses repeatedly. He gets saved by Obi Wan twice in the first film, against the Tuskan and in the Bar, gets saved by Han Solo, gets saved by Leia from falling to his death after fighting Darth Vadar. He gets wrecked by Vader after a year of training with Yoda.

2, Luke's main achievement in Episode Four is blowing up the Death Star using the force. This is the culmination of the film, after Luke travels with Obi Wan and is made aware of the force. He is also being aided by Han Solo who is shooting down Vader's elite troops. Also, by luck or fate, the way through the Death Star is in a crevice much like the valleys he would have flew on his own planet, and, due to Luke, at this point in time being the equivalent to an Intergalactic Hillbilly, is in a situation where his one strength is needed. As Luke states, he'd spent his time taking pot shots at rats on his planets, and was thus a 'crack shot'.

To summarize; Luke is able to take out the death star after being made well aware of the force, after making a number of fuck ups throughout the film, with the support of Han Solo protecting him, guided by the ghost of Obi Wan who has become one with the force, in a situation that uniquely applies to the one thing he's good at (piloting in tight spaces) and that he's spent his whole life training for, with a single 'pot shot' guided by the force using all his willpower.

Ren is able to use the force minutes after seeing it, against the strongest foe in her film (also a trained force user), is able to use the force on the storm trooper, and is able to use the force to bring Luke's sabre to her. She also uses the force to beat Kylo Ren - a man with years of experience with the force trained by both a Jedi Master and a Sithlord. Merely a few hours after being made aware of the force.

3, In Episode Four, Luke's only strength is as a pilot. It takes him another film to be able to bring his sabre to him. He gets destroyed by Vader when he goes to fight him. Luke routinely fails at things, takes years of training, is the 'one to bring balance to the force', and still isn't able to defeat Vader.

So that's my reasoning. I see a lot of stuff about people being sexist - I don't care that she's a woman. I also see a lot of articles vitriolically stating you have to be some sort of monster to think this. I don't get it.

To stave off the inevitable Finn comparison - Kylo Ren was clearly toying with Finn, swinging and brandishing his sabre to show off, and quite easily takes him out. It isn't the same situation.''

woo..passionate opinions...lol...
i didn't even know what a mary sue was until stumbling upon this post and reading and watching the video...
It's an odd argument that really amounts to a bunch of nothing BUT..
BUT..i will say ..after reading....and watching..and thinking..
Rey, to me..does indeed fit that mold of the aforementioned term.
I think a great deal of the new movie was...not realistic in the fantasy setting....but I'm a huge fan so I sit back, accept, and enjoy...

I actually really like the way this Rey figure looks. The Vader though..like previously stated...does resemble the early Anakin Vader (not that that is a bad think). Unfortunately I've yet to see a mafex/figuarts style vader I really want. I'm just rockin with my Black Series one for now.

I don't mind Rey, she's fine and I loved the movie.

I wasn't the one brought up her being a Mary Sue but when someone else did, I wanted to chime in because it's fun debating. Her being a Mary Sue doesn't stop me from enjoying the film. It's just bad writing but again, I still enjoy the film.

I don't understand why any of it really matters. I think we all know that Mickey Mouse will show up and be the one, true chosen one. Having typed that, I will admit I haven't watched a Star Wars movie since The Pharting Menace, so I could be wrong…it might turn out to be Minnie Mouse, just to be more PC.

No one picked up on the fact that this describes both Luke and Rey? Ie. that her character is just Luke on steroids, just like Force Awakens was A New Hope on steroids? Okay, I give up.

Note to self: don't bother poking fun at Star Wars on the internet. It's pointless.

It is an incredibly tricky terrain. I watched The Force Awakens, I really liked it and had fun watching but it definitely had some flaws. Like at what point does Rey just figure out she can do Jedi mind tricks? Did she reverse-probe Kylo Ren when he was trying to probe her? I liked just about all of the new characters but none of them were spotless. I get Rey being good at repairs and stuff in that area since she'd spent her whole life as a junker and there is a quick (honestly too quick) dialogue where she mentions piloting ships before, like maybe people payed her to park their ships or something, so combined with the Force I guess that accounts for flying the Falcon.

Even my brother pointed that out. He's hardly someone who goes around poking holes in movies, but he blurted out "so she suddenly knows the force??"

IDK, maybe she figured it out in one of those Force Visions.

Supposedly the novelization explains a number of her force moments as reverse-probing from when Kylo tried interrogating her.

That would make sense. Kylo unwittingly opened a door. That shit will probably be fleshed out in boring scenes with Luke, so it's fine.

Hey guys and experts

Can someone tell me, if S.H. Figuarts plans to release an Rey Figure?

Because iam not sure if i shall buy Mafex Version, or wait for S.H. Figurarts, because these Figures have better more accurate Head Sculpt overall.

Do not get me wrong, i have pre ordered all Mafex Ben Affleck Batman Figures, even Desert Outfit, because i like the Head Sculpt. But i know
that S.H. Figuarts have an even better one, just look at the Captain America
Civil War unmasked Figure.

So is there a Chance, that Figuarts will release an Rey Figure in the Future?
Because i know that they have already started to produce Star Wars Figures, and these look so accurate.
