Classics line bought and one of the easier lines I can ask for as gifts because it is almost idiot proof, where as asking for Darkhawk nets you a Falcon in the Marvel Universe

The Sewer Playset looks cool, but I thought they already re-released decent versions of the TMNT toys recently.

Will definitely be picking these guys up. Been lovin' the Turtles since I laid my young eyes on the original show. I'll be sticking to the Classics line though, I've no interest in the new series. I'm a die-hard fan of the *ahem* "200X" animated TV series and especially their character designs, so I'm hoping we get some super-articulated "200X" Turtles as well, either here or some other spin-off line.
Sure Playmates have already done toys of that series, but they pretty much forsook the show's designs in lieu of that weird exaggerated "top-heavy-triangular" design that everyone thinks kids love nowadays....so I'd like a re-do at least. |

So interesting story.
So comic-con 2011 was in town and after making our rounds for the day my gf and I decided we were done, starving and in need of a hot shower and a nap after combing the many isles of the con. Downtown gaslamp district was packed and many familiar venues had been transformed into panel parties. We decided to venture out towards our favorite downtown SD pizza place only to find out that this was closed off to the public because a panel was about to air soon. Defeated, we both begin to round the corner and search for the taxi that will bring us salvation. Instead, once we turned the corner we were ambushed by 15 foot soldiers menacingly blocking our path and threatening us into the building. Ok so it was really staff in black pajamas handing out red, blue, purple and orange bandanna masks (I took red) and they said we should just go in and say shredder sent us. We walk in and find a large group of TMNT fans gathered and receiving free bottles of water and being served pizza by the slice, cowa-freakin-bunga dudes! The stage was setup like a new York alleyway with trash bins. This panel introduced the creators of the new cartoon, the writer apparently just started studying ninjutsu as a martial art and wanted to incorporate more of the actual philosophy into the cartoon to give it a new feel. April O'Neil will be trained as a kunoichi (female ninja) and interesting weapon upgrades like Mikey's nunchucks converting into a Kasari gama are examples of new ideas that they were bringing. Then out of nowhere the trash bins we were standing next to to get a better view of the screen behind the podium flung open and revealed the new toys you see in this thread! Fellow Arkers I can attest to the coolness of these figures and will definitely be picking up the turtles. There was also a turtle bike that converts to a stealth mode when the turtle shell slides over the driver ( I assume the stealth tech is in the shell or something in the cartoon) and it was pretty awesome. If these look just as good at retail as they did in the panel I might be hooked on a new line. Crap. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Return to TV in CG Animated Series for Nickelodeon - Los Angeles Art - Public Spectacle I haven't really been keeping up on TMNT, so this is probably old news, but it sounds like others are in the same boat as me and this is new. Plus there's already footage of the cartoon. Seriously, how the hell did I miss this? Last edited by 245am; 02-02-2012 at 12:29 AM.. |

Oh boy...I've been waiting for these. I'm gonna pick up New & Old. Then I can line them up with the others that I have. I want to make the Turtles Multiverse a reality (too bad I'm missing NECA though...).

Must resist!!! I was a TMNT fanatic and these look awesome, I may have to get them if the price is right and they look good. That playset looks absolutely massive and would look bitching all painted to make it dirtier and more realistic. Wow, turtles are back with a force, the van looks great. Damn may have to get these.

Also, like others I'm thinking about the classic versus the "basic" figures of the main line... I complied the posted images here

Either a new Krang or it's an Utrom or a version where Krang is an Utrom like in the Dan Berger comics.
Really looking forward to these. I have 99% of the original Playmates line, some of the newer cartoon line, the entire 2007 movie line and the NECA turtles, a bunch of NECA mousers and April O' Niel. I'm definitely a shellhead. |

Here are some screenshots from the videos:
The actual figures don't look to have that nice black wash that the promo shots do, but they are far from looking bad: Mike sadly does not have actual chain for his nunchaku. Not really surprising, but a bummer. Splinter is...Different. I don't hate it, but it'll take some getting use to. The Foot. Shreader's face looks a little plan. Probably should have given him some pupils. Krang looks crazy, but in a good way. April is...kinda doofy looking, honestly...Eh well. |

Yeah, or Muckman and Joe Eyeball would be cool, too. Love squeezing the retromutagen ooze out of him. Neat effect. Same with Mutagen Man with his floaty guts action feature.

Actually, those look like the weapons that go with the deluxe versions.

I really hope the classics come out in a 4 pack. Though I highly doubt it.

Here is hoping they have classics april with large booby action in the yellow open jumpsuit.
The classics look good but I'm thinking they are going to be crazy expensive. Hopefully the bands on the new figures are all brown looks much better than the white. I have the Neca set and they are great but the original red still bugs me since I grew up on the cartoon not the comic. I won't pay $16 for them though, if they try to price them higher like the large thundercats classics were, that would be a little steep. It would suck if they were $6.99 for the new line and that much for the classics. |

Yup. And even for the deluxe, adding a real chain on something like this would be super easy, even for the customizing declined like me.

@Paxtin,
Thanks for throwing up the screenshots! That allowed me to actually see them! I like April. Splinter, I hope the final version has a different color for the top of his head. A color that's not identical (or nearly so) to his yukata. Krang looks great, but Shredder is a little too close to the 4Kids series (Always thought that design was boring, as well as what they did with the character was hugely messed up). I'd rather that they's gone back to the Mirage Comics or old movies design for him. And while I might be wrong, how I understood it is that it was the Classics Mikey who had the chains on his nunchuks, not the mainline Mikey.

The mainline Mikey I saw in person had chains too. Seeing as how these were prototype on display for the panel, I can't say for certain it will keep it for retail.

Maybe it will win me over like Avengers:EMH did even though I didn't like the animation choice when I first saw the pics.

Im definitely favouring the main line versions,i think they are just a little "edgier" and closer to the comic book versions than the classics, but its great we get a choice of both lines, something for EVERYONE!!!

more detail could have been put into shredder imo,and the blades on his ankles are way to big.
