I just got him in the mail.......has to be the worst put together marvel figure I've ever seen.
He looks great true
but outside of the package. His chest gear isnt attached to him, nor is it secured tightly on his torso, making it almost biblike. if you look under his chest armor, its one fleshy chest attached to a completely black torso. His leg with the armor. the armor is just a feebly rubber piece that is about to fall off at a moments notice
His elbows can only bend 35 degrees. and thats being generous. It would have been better if his arms were just one long piece ala Venoms legs.

Just goes to show you cant judge a book by its cover. now I gotta find some of my old invisible Hasbro rubber bandy things to secure his stuff to him.

I just got him in the mail yesterday.

I gotta admit not my favorite figure but I don't think he is horrible....I view it like this

Hasbro definitely went for accuracy over plyability. The figure, to me, is an uncanny resemblance of his comic book appearance.

So they gave him the necessary look we wanted but if they had glued or cemented his armor down he would have negative flexability. That leg armor would make it IMPOSSIBLE for leg articulation to even exist, at least with this option we can opt out and take off the armor.

I can't make the same argument with the chest though. The chest piece SHOULD have been sculpted on, just like Iron Man's armor and his chest should have been one solid piece which would have given us both articulation and accuracy.

So in my opinion, on a scale of 1-10 (1 being absolutely unbuyable and 10 being a must must have). I'd put him at about.....4. Mostly graded on his accuracy and the fact that Hasbro didn't lock us into having no flexability by having the leg part glued on.

I kind of dig the figure but I might have to add a dab of superglue to keep his chest plate down. Give this guy a hockey stick and he is Casey Jones from the Turtles line.

Wow...this is pretty surprising, but definitely proof that looks are not indicative of quality.

I think this one is being blown way out of proportion. I actually is a pretty sweet figure. The issues are an ill-fitting chest plate and a snap on thigh armor.
The chest plate, admittedly needs a dab of glue or it rides up however the figure itself it a good sculpt. The thigh armor as well (it is actually sculpted inside to fit the thigh, literally the muscles are sculpted in reverse in the leg armor). I think these were done so as to be removable. Other than that this is a bang up figure all around. The paint apps are flawless. The head sculpt rocks and the whips fit snuggly.

I must say, from an overall look and quality this is one of the best IM series. The War Machine, Ultimate IM and Mandarin are really, really nice.

Take a look and decide for yourself.

I agree with what you said. Like I said in my post, I think it was a good choice for Hasbro to make the armor removable instead of just just gluing it on for us. We can now control how solidified we want this figure to be by gluing it on ourselves, leaving it be, taking the armor off etc

Has anyone figured out btw how to get this whips to kinda...straighten or loose up a bit, mine are pretty much stuck in the way they got out of the package

haven't tried this on the whiplash figure but typically i boil some water, pour it into a pyrex cooking dish, and soak soft plastic parts for about 3 minutes.

take the whips stretch them to your desired length, tape them to a chopstick (or something else straight) to hold the shape. then stick em in the freezer for an hour.

this method has always worked great for me with clear soft plastics. hope it helps
