Hullo! Welcome to my custom toys and modifications thread. Feedback and critiques are always welcome.
Enjoy the pics! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() Iron Fist -JL Cyclops body with Namor forearms and a cast head from the Powerman/Iron Fist comic pack. Sash came from Dr Strange. Chi effect from the ML Iron Fist. Had to work myself up to painting the dragon emblem and even still, don't know if I want to put in a black outline around it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thing -Used the 3 pack version and added in rocker ankles and a hinged neck. Ankles came from a single carded Thing's elbows and the neck made from a Wolverine shoulder (Sabretooth/Wolverine comic pack one). Apoxie Sculpt to add in the rocky details over the neck stump as well as for redoing his brow. Totally used the Premium Format Thing statue as a guide for the rocky indentations. Swapped out the right forearm of the original figure with the left arm of the single carded one. For some reason the original right arm always bothered me like it was sculpted to be oriented differently. The muscle indentation compared to the left arm is off. Can't really explain it but that's why I swapped em. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Deadpool -Comic pack Daredevil body with comic pack Deadpool's chest harness and belt. Bands came from JL Cyclops for Union Jack. Holster from Target 2 pack Punisher. Heads were cast from the X-Force 3 pack Deadpool. Did the holster one as a semi-commission for a member on the Marvelousnews forum. Head is cast from a better mold, kept the middle strap on the chest harness, added the holster, and the bands from that one came from Union Jack. ![]() ![]() Wolverine -Added a hinged neck using a the ball jointed peg part which cast was from a Ghostrider bodytype neck. Peg was cast from a lightsaber tip to keep the joint in place. Painted in a few details. But why fix up this Wolverine? Well, I got two words for ya, bub. ![]() ![]() ![]() Energy Blasts Been teaching myself how to mold and cast and one of the main reasons is so I can have different colored versions of the Ms Marvel blast effect. Still working out the kinks and need to redo the mold so that hand hole is intact instead of having to dremel into it. Last edited by NoodleChow; 04-07-2012 at 06:43 PM.. |

Dear lord...AMAZING!! That thing is flipping amazing. As much as I like Iron Fist, I still see him as being fairly slim. With that being said I think the Scarlet Spider body would of been better. Uhg I am so jealous of that thing...

haha yeah man, i agree about the more slender look. i think the main thing is that i'd have to do too much to fix up the scarlet spider body like adding in a hinged neck and rocker ankles. like the upcoming FF spidey. i don't see spidey that tall or buff but i'm ok with it since the body is articulated up pretty nicely.

You need to be selling the engery blasts to us arkers, those look bitchin! great custom work, I'd love to commision a dp or 2, or get some cast heads, the 3pack head is the best sculpted version made thus far.

yeaaaah, i was thinking if someone doesn't start doing those blast effects by the time i can get em done more efficiently, i might make em available. but if anything, i'd say people should learn how to cast stuff since it's not terribly expensive. just kinda time consuming and lots of trial and error. seen at least one other person toying with molds so i'd like to think the toy community is savvy enough to do so.

been trying to work my rusty art skills up these past few months. learned how to cast so i could in theory just make my own figures since waiting on hasbro to make characters i want takes way too long. like when the line first started i remember thinking oh i'll just wait for a better single carded version of hawkeye... pffft. or hmm i'll pass on this xmo gambit for an actual MU version. pffffffffffffffffftttttttt...... |

I felt the same about Gambit. I ended up giving him articulated ankles and swivel wrists and a new staff and cards.

HOLY SHIT! Keep this up man, the quality of your customs are top notch and the fact that you're starting to do your own molding is sweet. Nice work, I love the Deadpool and Iron Fist!

i'd do the same if i ever got a gambit/sinister comic pack. but also thinking i'd merge the arms onto a better body, salvage the coat, head, maybe the knees and boots, then sculpt all the little details. then make clear purple energy card accessories. or start fresh and sculpt everything on a blank body, sculpt the head, and then sew a cloth scaled coat. which would be ridiculous but totally awesome practice.

thanks DFD! been working on my sculpting skills so i can cast those instead of relying on parts from other things since chopping up toys gets expensive. almost grabbed a ghostrider cuz i wanted the extra chain to give to my GR and the legs for a custom but good lord... 9 something for fodder toys adds up. i think i'd sculpt a new noggin and redo his belt so it's not that covered up x-men one. body wise i'd say it's sorta spot on since him and colossus are similar in design. prolly add in rocker ankles to boot. rocker ankles for all!

Truly awesome work, man. I would REALLY love a Deadpool like that. What kind of resin are you using for your energy blasts?

haha thanks proteus! a lot if not all of my free time gets devoted to just working on these things and each one is a challenge in some way. lots of mental and physical trial and error and sheer obsession to make things work. |

Dude!!! Can I call being your #1 fan!? haha. Seriously, so glad I joined toyark at the time I did, otherwise I would have missed your customs.
Your iron fist is wicked -- i'm already bringing mine back to the drawing board. And I'm totally stealing that Deadpool recipe :P

If you end up making DCUC heads...I would love a Batman one for I can buy a Legacy one and switch heads for it doesn't look like he is taking a shit...and failing.

haha yeah of all the heads they have at their disposal, they use that one for a sorta rebooted repaint line. i'll see if i ever get my hands on a good batman sculpt or if i try my hand at sculpting one down the line.
