My wife has been asking me about a toy she had when she was a kid. (1984-1986 timeframe). It was a compact-like enclosure and opened up to have a white lattice handle and a little figure with a garden like scenery inside when you opened it up. She said it is not polly-pockets.
If anyone has any ideas or pointer it will be appreciated. |

My sister also had something like this, Strawberry Shortcake sounds like it. Polly Pocket was much smaller back then but does sound like the description. Does she recall the scale?

She doesn't think its strawberry shortcake. She said the toy folded up into a compact like case. Was somewhat square, lite-pink, about 3-4 inches in size. She stresses that it opened to a little garden.

In the late 80's, Bluebird made Polly Pocket and they were much smaller than what Mattel produced after buying Bluebird. But there was another line in the 80's called Sweet Secrets and I think a third one similar to Polly, but I can't seem to find much more info on that last one except that it seems to fit your toy best.
Here is a link for an old Polly compact I found. It sort of looks like an amusement park, not a garden: VINTAGE POLLY POCKET HOT PINK COMPACT PLAYSET & DOLL - eBay (item 220737378967 end time Feb-14-11 15:12:16 PST)
