I dunno i wasn't going to buy them but when i saw them i was definitly impressive the only one i haven't bought is the light up hammer one basiccly because i hate stupid gimmicks like that, I kind of want more Frost Giants even, The loki figure is kind of boring but other than that thumbs up oh and all the odins i've seen are silver

The silver one was first, so technically the gold one is the variant/running change.

I'm pretty meh about this first wave of figures, at least. Some of the figures I want aren't due out until wave 2. Might eventually get Loki, but I want the helmeted one more.

But the Nerf Mjolnir rocks! I might start calling it Mjol-Nerf.

I know what you mean. I think a lot of us have been dragging our feet on these toys, kinda accepting them for what they are. They remind me of all those 80s/90's movie toys which REALLY tried to make them look like the actors at a sacrifice of the entire aestethics of the toy.

Regardless, I doubt we will get a Siff, Heimdall, and other Asgaardians in MU so this is it.

If we do get them in MU, my heart will be overjoyed but my wallet will be screaming bloody murder ha

I've been looking but haven't seen the gold version Odin yet. Not sure I'd get him even if I found one...seems so darn short, even with just the other figures of the Thor line let alone MU.

So far I've only picked up the 2 deluxes from this line (Frost Giant and repainted Thor with straps in front). I liked the deco on these 2 more than their normal releases, plus TRU mistakenly had a $10 tag on the peg (plus another $5 off coupon I had).

At first I didn't like Thor that much because his hammer kept slipping down to the hammer head. After finding that his fist could, with some wangling, fit through the handle's strap, he now holds the hammer firmly from the bottom of the handle rather than the top and there is pretty much no chance it'll fall off when he gets tossed back in the bin.

I havent bought one Thor figure as of yet and dont plan to. I'm not impressed at all with any of them.
If anyone is in Long Island, PM me for location of the gold Odin's if you are interested.

Hey, The TRUE variant is the silver one. The package pictured a goldish looking color. And those were first run. The RARE one would be the silver one. Not too many of them left since the gold ones surfaced. Even hasbrotoyshop is out.

Would someone mind posting a pic of Odin and Thor standing side by side? I want to get an idea of Odin's height compared to other figs.

The silver version is only a variant if Hasbro continues to produce it alongside the gold version. If they stop making the silver version and only make the gold version from now on, then it's considered a running change, not a variant.

And in that case, the silver version will eventually be even more rare than the gold version. But a normal variant is usually not as rare as the version that came before the change was made. Unless that change was done near or at the end of the toy line.

I think someone's already posted a pic of them together, but I can't seem to locate the thread yet. You might want to try the "Look What I Got This Week" thread in the General Discussion forum, or the news forum if no one accommodates you here.

IIRC, he's about half-a-head shorter than movie Thor.
