I don't have any rule about what I open and what I don't. Sometimes it comes down to space issue, sometimes I just really want to take a toy out of the package and hold it. Other times I really appreciate the overall aesthetic of the toy and packaging and either keep it unopened, or open it carefully so I can put it back in the packaging and still display it that way.

I don't buy with the intent on reselling. Not that I have never sold any of my collectibles, I have, that just isn't my intent when I originally buy. I buy because the item is something I really want and I still don't open all my stuff, so I don't agree with the point of view that you only keep toys MIB in order to sell them later.

There have been times where I've opened up a bunch of stuff that I had never opened, which is quite fun. It feels like Christmas morning.

i love that feeling, i get that whenever i hold a toy i've been trying to find for a long time, felt that way with Bludgeon when he first came out, felt that way with my MU extremis iron man when i finally found him after months of looking

I'd love to see photos of your collection if you ever get time
Yeah, hindsight as is I'd pay the $30 bucks now for a Fury that they're going for $150 on eBay.

Here's a pic. Not too exciting, but it a nice conversation piece. All the XMO and IM2 are in the closet

I have just recently been in the process of selling off the figures and ships in my collection that I DON't plan on keeping. But to be honest, anything that can be opened without destroying the package (sometimes kept for ease of storage later) will be done. I shelled out over $200 to get the Hot Toys Iron Man Mark III: Battle Damaged and you can bet the second it hit the door it was opened. There are certain figures that I have two sets of BECAUSE I couldn't open the first (say the NECA carded turtles vs. Boxed "repackage-able" set). So in short, anything that can be opened in a non card/box destroying manner will be. I don't spend this kind of money on figures that I enjoy for whatever reason to just stare at a card. Few things I buy will be later sold. I dont buy to "invest" because so many things are mass produced anymore.

Thats also a very good point. I recently purchased the entire line of Middle Earth Figures from an obscure company in Tenessee. They were produced in the late 90's and stopped at the millenium.

When I bought these figures they were on all MOSC and now they are opened. I feel like I should be flogged because they were made in quantities of thousands, so not very massed, and they are old. Anyway, I've been working on a review of them and I'll be putting pics up shortly of these guys. They are verrrrryyy cool

Plus MU I think it made to be opened now that they have stands and those cards which are fun.
If all the MU figs had awesome articulation like the newer figs, then I would totally open all of them. But for me MU Jean Grey was the deal breaker... she kinda sucks as a fig IMO, but I found one that had great paint apps and she is looking straight ahead in the package... so I pretty much have to keep her MOC. Same with MU Classic Havok IMO... much better looking when kept MOC. And since I kept those 2 MOC, I might as well keep the rest of my fav MU X-men MOC to keep them company. LOL.

So at this point my little band of mutants are MOC and all my non mutants/CP/boxset MU are all opened up and on display.

With me it depends on the toy. A good lot of what I do buy is Transformers. I open each and every single one of them just so I can mess around with the whole changing from disguise mode to robot. For the most part I do open everything.

That doesn't mean I don't have any sealed figures. Just whatever I think looks cool in package remains that way.

I am so annoyed voyagers now come in robot mode. Part of my love came from opening them and turning them in to bots. My TFs rarely see vehicle mode after that.

I am an opener for the most part. I do love package art but don't keep cards.

I have a bunch of sealed TFs and MU, McQuarrie series SW figs, etc. I figure it improves their trade worthiness if I trade them. But for the most part if I have one sealed, I have one opened but not the other way around.

I pick up extras all the time too for customs, and usually hang them by the hook on the end of my wire shelving in my workshop.

I also have things like Avatar AMP suits (6-7) from when they were $5 at Family Dollar. Things like that I'll keep sealed until I need the parts for customs.

Depends on what it it. I opened all my Thundercats figures.

My Marvel figures (just the Xmen) are still MOC.

I opened all my ROC figures. POC is still MOC.
