Ok so I purchased a customized item through a company using paypal and paid partial of it with my paypal funds and the rest credit card. I still have yet to receive the item and was going to open a dispute with Paypal but because it's past the 45 days. Paypal can't do anything but file a complaint. To me paypal is useless IMO and never really cared for them much. Sorry just needed to get this off my chest. Anyone else have issues with paypal?

I was apparently late shipping 3 items on eBay and now eBay/PayPal hold my funds until buyers leave feedback or for 21 days (whichever happens first).
Kind've bullshit considering i've got 608 positive feedback as a seller and zero negative and have been using eBay since 2004. |

They can be pretty sketchy. The idea behind Paypal is pretty cool and it converts currency for us, but their customer service fucking sucks. A Canadian Akrer sent me money over a week ago and they automatically put a hold on it, which seems really impractical to me considering that they deal solely in financial transactions. A damn bank works faster than that.

That a new thing they started doing not that long ago. I did a focus group at ebay on this, and I told them it was a shit idea. Guess they didn't listen.

This is very true, though it isn't something that they want the general public to know. I've even mentioned it to the customer service people of both Paypal and eBay, and they both won't comment on it, but it was funny to listen to them weasel around admitting it. It's paypal too dude, it just depends on what is going on. The hold I was referring to was conducted without any involvement from eBay, they just froze the funds for several days longer than what would be reasonable these days. Someone transferred money to me (they no longer have the money, so Paypal has it) and still it takes Paypal over a week to allow me access to it. That just seems odd.

My only issue with PayPal is the amount of time it takes to transfer funds from them to my bank (Bank of America). It takes almost a full week for that to process, which seems silly considering that when I buy using PayPal the funds are removed from my account instantly. I've bitched to PayPal who says it's Bank of America's delay, and I've bitched to Bank of America who says it's PayPal's who delays the process. Not really a problem, but it's something that could be smoother.

By useless did you mean evil? My account is locked because one of my friends used my address and owes money. I can pay off my friends debt but they cant promise they wont close the account after I do.
And remember this is the company that brought us "You can use the donate button to help a sick cat, but not poor children |

Ok I don't get what the option of having a CC be a part of your back up payment plan if you don't have enough funds in your own bank account. It still hits the bank account and can cause an overdraft...how is it Paypal is the only company that provides this kind of service...isn't that what they call a Monopoly?
Sorry just ranting again about this crappy company...and yet we kind of have no choice to use it to send cash to fellow arker's. |

I have a credit card as a back up so I honestly can't relate when I didn't have funds it went right to the credit card, the whole price not just the left overs. Also have never received money from people, I have only paid so far..

That is very weird as to why it didn't do it for you. I also never keep funds on my paypal, ever. If I ever sold something I would get it transfered as soon as I got the money. I don't trust paypal holding onto my internet funds lol.

I am the same way as well!! I've also decided to straight pay with a CC if the seller requires Paypal...instead of using any funds from paypal because of their stupid 45 day dispute policy.

Also got Paypal hooked up to my bank account so on orders under 30 bucks or so I just do the direct payment from there, it is instant. Anything over 30 I toss on my CC for I can pay it off later. I don't think I have ever had funds sitting on my account honestly.

I use Paypal all the time to securely transfer funds with my credit card while on the internet, so I disagree with the basic premise of this thread.
