I knew it was inevitable, but seeing Classified Kamakura in a windowless box made me sad. So far I have kept all my Classified Joes MIB, but if half of my Classified collection is gonna end up windowless... no point in keeping them all MIB, might as well just open everything now.

To me, anything that helps out with the environment is a good thing. If no plastic is better than recyclable plastic then I'm all for it. I wish MacFarlane and other companies will follow suit. I know Lego has changed to bagging their pieces in paper instead of plastic.

I'm pretty neutral on it with figures specifically, I open everything anyway. I don't think it's substantial enough to make me actually happy about it, though. Now if we were talking about 50% of products period ditching plastic packaging- your cereal bags, kitchen knives, peanut butter jars, that sort of thing, I'd jump for joy.

And yes, I know- small steps, every little bit counts, etc, etc. and all that rot. It just comes across as insignificant at this point, kind of a token gesture just to appear to care, and perhaps please some shareholders at the same time. I will admit though, I've long felt that many figures' plastic packaging was overboard. To kinda bring it full circle, I've felt that way since Toybiz were producing Legends.

Dear God, Toybiz Legends figures were a nightmare to unpackage. I would use scissors and do everything to avoid cutting the comic, and I'm not even sure those even recycled. I think my parents wish-cycled the packaging for the Abomination and Punisher figures. The rest of the Toybiz Marvel Legends figure I own I found loose and Vintage Stock.

You might be right that it's a PR move more than anything else. So I would stan Lego or Hasbro's decision to move away from plastic. However, I still think it's a good move and am willing to give credit where it's due. Yes, there are far more problems than toy packaging almost every beverage is packaged in plastic, cereal bags are made of plastic, and movies, video games, CDs, and books get saran wrapped in plastic. There's definitely a long way to go. This is at most a start.
