Since Trebleshot outed me as a Battle Beast fan, I thought maybe I could start up a thread and get some discussion going!
Any one else out there remember Battle Beasts as a child? Anyone out there a fan? I don't remember my first introduction to them, but I remember they were some of my favorites as a kid. I had a crap ton of toys, and when I think back the ones I was the most fond of were my Transformers, GI Joes (Cobras really), and my Battle Beasts. I am a little surprised to come to the realization that I ranked Battle Beasts higher than properties like He-Man, Voltron, M.A.S.K., and Thundercats as a kid. I have spent many years trying to gather up a collection of them since all of my toys from childhood are long gone. It's rough because these little guys fetch a pretty penny on the secondary market. So anyone else have some love for these guys out there? Have a collection you want to share with us? |

Well, I guess it's only fair that I should own up to my own inner fanboy, shouldn't I?
![]() I was a big fan of Battle Beasts back in the day too. I thought it was a really cool mix of sci-fi, fantasy and a little anime thrown in as well. Add in the Rock-Paper-Scissors gameplay element, and you've got a winner. I really like the weaponry that they came with too. Some of the them rivaled the D&D illustrations in creativity. My only issue with them was I could never remember who got which weapon (since they would be invariably be disarmed during my "battles" all the time). Unfortunately, just about all of my collection disappeared when I was a teen (we moved and they didn't make the trip somehow). One of these days, I'm going to try to rebuild it with the originals (or possibly that new line I heard about).

Well they are supposed to have Minimates ones coming out. There is only a gator right now, and it has been repainted and re-armed and released only at conventions so far. I'll have to post some pics when I can find the one I got at SDCC last year.
There is also supposed to be small 4" statues from Diamond as well. I really don't care for them as much. My one issue with the new Battle Beasts is the lack of the rubsign play mechanic, which I loved when I was a kid. But I do kind of dig the minimate one we've already seen. |
