It looks like they just randomly put them on display. And for some reason stuck a cartoon leo with the movie figures.

Considering what NECA did with the movie figures and the classic cartoon figure I would think Playmates would try to hide these and not put them on display. Would anyone still buy these terrible things when the other stuff is coming to retail?

You can get those free with the points on the new figures. I just received muckman with a kit for all of our points.

I noticed they don’t have the splinter [layset that goes underneath the large sewer play set. I wondered if that would get cancelled. These new turtles are not flying off of the shelves like the last series.

whoa whoa, Neca is coming out with good stuff but i prefer the Playmates cartoon version over the neca cartoon versions. People sure have short memories, the playmates version were the quintessential TMNT figures for awhile also.

Well, for one i didnt really like the classics figures. The cartoon ones looked way too big and i didnt think they got the likeness right. I didnt like the mash up of original toys and cartoon looks. The movie ones I flat out hated. They lookes nothing like the movie figures. I passed on both because id rather be without than have figures I didnt like.

and i think the opposite, i think the neca ones are too small and have a simple look, kind of generic, cookie cutter style. the heads looks like someone squashed their heads downward. i do want the Shredder thou.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...That's why I'm sticking with Neca or even the devil for all my turtles needs. Playmates can cater to the kiddie market.

I bought Classics Donatello and got rid of it days later. Although it had great articulation, the design left poses looking choppy and unnatural. I have Classics Bebop and Rockstready, and I’m not sure really WHAT they are a classic of.., they don’t fit with the Classics turtles because they aren’t animation designed, but they don’t really fit with modern turtles either. The only thing I’ve found that they mesh with is the First Gokin Cerebral Krang. It’s hyperstylized, so they go well together.

I got the Classics BeBop and Rocksteady as well to go with my NECA SDCC exclusives. I assumed we would never see NECA do them for some reason so I settled when I shouldn't have. It took 2 years or so, but they are finally doing it with more to come. I wish I hadn't gotten the Playmates ones now as the plastic feels cheap and they are really off model. I don't know why they went that far off model.

I don’t regret getting them, as they’ve been on display for two years+ as servants for First Gokin Krang, but I don’t mind taking them off display with my toon turtles. They actually go rather well with the comics tmnt ko figures I have...

What ticks me off is I need Splinters like crazy. I have comics, movie, and toon turtles but no master splinter. Might taxidermy a pet rat and make it wear a Barbie robe...

Hey rodent... it rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again!

I suppose placing them with the Mirage NECA Knock-offs would work. They would need a little black line work to match the style though. But your are right, they would probably fit in well there after some minor custom work.

Also, we desperately need a Splinter. I think the next SDCC set will contain 7" movie versions of Shredder, 2 foot clan members, and Splinter. It was said that the set will contain a figure we have not seen in 1/4 scale yet and it was also said that they are still working out likeness rights. So, that really only leaves Splinter and I am OK with that. I am also sure that those will be the next figures to hit GameStop.
