Mattel did make versions of these 2 already, but they were around 4” scale...maybe a little bigger. The prototypes looked good, but the final priduct was so-so.

I mean, come on.

Still hoping Tamashii Nations will do this one eventually. I mean they make Marvel figures for quite a while now, so I'm honestly surprised why it isn't a thing already.

This is probably only the first wave anyway. I really doubt they plan on making three figures and stopping.

I just need some unmasked heads....here that mattel we demand unmasked heads. 30 bucks if you include unmasked heads..I want the Shipp and Kilmer unmasked heads. Lets not cuk this up...get it right Mattel.

And then please do a Gerrard Christopher Spuperboy Dean Cain and a proper Burt Ward and Adam West.

We shall see if Mattel has turned a corner....at ToyFair. Hoping for the best and preparing for the worse. I have oodles of cash ready to spend like wildfire I want TV properties from yesteryear finally done. Forget the modern the past is where it is at.

Sure, it's possible that if they think the sales aren't up to snuff that they'll cancel the line, but right now there's no reason to believe that will happen. If everyone gets all elitist and turns their noses up at the figures because they don't look as good as Figuarts, they'll probably cancel it.

I think collectors are just irritated by Mattel. Most of the stuff they put out isn’t even worthy of the “Adult Collector” label IMO. If you’ve been collecting figures for a while (5-10 years+) you probably remember that Mattel has already tried Movie lines before, but they always screw it up. I hope it succeeds, but they have a bad track record. It’s not even about looking as good as SH...They’ve struggled to match their own prototypes, change their scale, and always cut corners. If I had a kid, I would buy them Mattel Multiverse. Let’s hope my opinion changes.

These are laughably stupid looking. And anyone who is comparing Hasbro charging $20 to Mattle doing the same is borderline insane. Hasbro could charge $30 and I'd still buy half the shit they put out. Mattel is a joke.

Kind of an extreme response to a blurry picture. What's laughably stupid about them? They don't seem noticeably worse than anything from Hasbro based on what can be made out in the picture.

Re: Mattel's DC Multiverse [6 inch]

I've known about these for a while but couldn't say anything. There isn't a Reeve Superman planned, because his estate currently won't license his likeness. An odd decision as Reeve was such a heroic person for many people. Shame too, as I always wanted to assemble West Batman, Carter Wonder Woman, and Reeve Superman There was also supposed to be a Stamp Zod, but I think due to Reeve's likeness not being available he was pushed to make room for the Shipp Flash. I also wouldn't expect a Nicholson Joker, as he charges a huge amount for his likeness.
I just read this on The Fwoosh. Absolutely deflating if true. Hopefully there are no problems with Keaton's likeness.

I wouldn't take any stock in it, most of the time anyone that says they knew about something for a while but weren't allowed to talk about it is just lying for attention (certain exemptions to this rule being guys like Zach Oat, Randy Falk and some of the mods at Toyark)

EDIT: I should clarify that Nicholson does indeed charge outrageous prices for his likeness, but that's been common knowledge for a while. Anyone that is an industry insider should be able to provide a scrap of evidence that they really work for said company without breaking any NDA's

I thought Mattel already had the rights to Reeve's likeness. I mean, they made a 3 3/4 inch version.

Also, what about Neca? They made a 7 inch version a little while back. Have problems risen since then?

Also, pushing back a Stamp Zod makes perfect sense if they can't get Reeve. I mean, we all know the horror stories of last time when NOBODY could find Superman.

Licensing rights are rarely for perpetuity. You usually license the right to a likeness only for as long as you initially plan on producing your items, and then have to re-up or renegotiate based new items. The rights for the 3.75" version likely expired a few years ago.

Lol My local grocery store has had those on clearance for over a year.

The statement about no Reeve or Nicholson is likely very true. Sounds about right. Honestly, no Reeve Superman is going to beat the NECA one. Just buy that one before it’s too late. Mattel already made a Reeve and it sucked. Not sure why they even paid for the likeness when the figure doesn’t even resemble him. They did use an image from the movie, that looked like him😉
Seriously not trying to be super negative about this line, but all I see is Mattel has found a way to end NECA’s DC movie line. So instead of shrunk down versions of 1/4 scale amazing sculpts, we get these Mattel Multiverse.

I blame DC for a really bad decisions in 2017, and 2018 has shown no promise. DC movies have struggled, all the figure companies are taking a bath in JL stuff. The only company right now that has the edge with DC (IMO) is MAFEX. They have a little bit of everything, and they are doing an excellent job with making QC changes. Now if only the prices weren’t so high.

I would also wager a not-insignificant amount of money that the reason NECA's DC vs. Preds and Aliens packs were delayes was due to Mattel sticking their nose into the business, though I have no proof haha

I 100% agree! However, Mattel can't make them since they don't own Predator/Alien figure rights. So they can delay them all they want, they'll never be able to cash in on them.
I really hope these don't get cancelled. That Batman and Superman are the best comic versions of Batman and Superman in figure form that I've ever seen. Also that Batman would look badass with the "Batmanead End" figures NECA released.

Honestly I'm kind of frustrated with NECA's quality control. The first Reeve figure I got broke when I tried to move the arm, then the replacements both had messed up legs(one sticks out of the hip joint too far and the other has one leg that's too long, making it stand awkwardly). If there's one plus about Mattel(at least in my experience) is the manufacturing process is a little more competent and they're more durable overall.

The first run of Reeve's they did had reaaalllly bad QC, but if you're able to find one of the rereleases you should be fine! Not sure how to tell which run each figure is from though
