I will never ever ever understand artists who make the Beyond suit into a busy nightmare of layered paneling and endless detail. It's mutually incompatible with the base aesthetic, and I haven't seen a single example that doesn't look fug to the max. :/

I don't think this looks ridiculous. I think it looks extremely functional and practical.
![]() Addendum: In fairness, and maybe stating the obvious, Batman Beyond is set in a kind of fanciful if not ridiculous Jetsons-style future, so a realistic depiction of a futuristic bat-suit in that environment might be expected to reflect the design aesthetic that permeates the source material. Let's also bear in mind the resounding success of the Iron Man armor depicted recently in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I sense that somewhere, there are people who are looking for a new direction for the Batman licence, which might explain the seeming preoccupation with the character in toy land and the sheer volume of different (and in my opinion, mostly failed) attempts to re-imagine him. Releasing variants might be a way to test market response that will help guide future production decisions. I favor the 'back to basics' approach, myself. Batman should be defined primarily by character and values. He's an extreme moralist with a huge chip on his shoulder, not Iron Man with pointed ears. Last edited by Skoob; 08-26-2022 at 12:45 AM.. |

I'd bet that if/when they do get around to making a Batman Beyond movie this is probably close to what the suit will look like. I don't hate it but it is a bit too busy. I just hope they don't go all nanotech with it like the MCU seems to with everything these days.

Man, fanboys sure are picky. I've always had a sweet spot for Batman Beyond since the first time I watched it. Yeah this has a lot of detail and a lot going on but it's still cool looking. Not a big fan of his MCU Thanos chin. Wish he just kept the mouth area smooth and defined. As for everything else, this is Batman in the future, that suit was already made with nanotechnology even in the cartoon series. He had jet boots and the underarm wing gliders to guide himself with. So, I don't think it's so far fetched that the suit looks the way it does. When it was damaged in the animated series underneath it looked liked computer chips and motherboards and processors all over the suit. Plus, Bruce is a billion air and as he got older, he essentially was gonna need a suit that was more tech to assist him until he just couldn't Dawn the suit anymore. So it's not so far fetched again to believe that the suit is so hi-tech. Obviously if you're not a fan of Batman Beyond to begin with then you're not gonna like this design and that's the whole point of this series and story arc, it's NOT back to basics...it's BEYOND yeah like that word pun usage there?

Well I think the spirit of the Beyond design is it's a high advanced suit that fits in a suitcase. Even by the time the show take takes place that suit Terry wears is decades old. That's how advanced it is.
So if they ever did a live action Batman Beyond, it shouldn't be Iron Man with a thousand parts. It is a nanotech suit in the show, but it doesn't have to just magically appear on the body. I'm thinking more like the 2nd Black Panther MCU suit without all the Tron lights. I also saw the suit as being feral looking. People say Bruce dressed like a Bat but how? Nix the cowl and he looks like Superman. Terry looks like a kind of Man Bat with razer sharp claws, really long ears, and his whole face being jet black. I think the Sideshow Batman Beyond statue shows exactly how he should look. The suit looks like a second skin. He doesn't look like a tech hero. This statue though looks exactly how I think Bruce would get to Terry's suit. He'd have to start off with something far more mechanical. Refining it and taking it back to something feral. |
