Godzilla vs Kong Figures
|
I think Playmates needs a refresher on the meaning of "giant", and why did they have to photoshop the toys into the kids hands? Couldn't they just take pics of the kids playing with them?
|
I Can't wait to get them both. BUT It's all so time for a trailer.
|
Playmates can take their entire Godzilla license and shove it up their ass. I don't understand why Toho decided to work with a company that produces toys that make bootlegs facepalm in embarassment.

You would think Toho would contract NECA to do these figs. |
I liked the Skull Island figures a lot more than these but they're not 100% terrible. I dig the battle damage Kong a lot. Plus they look way better than their TMNT lines. How have they been doing those for over 30 years and they still don't look as good as these?
EDIT: Speaking of battle damage, I asked a Playmates rep eons ago why there were no battle damage turtles since there hundreds of toy lines with that very concept. I even pointed out that I wasn't looking for missing chunks of flesh like Kong here or the Jurassic Park lines, just maybe some bandages on the turtles, broken foot-bots or a Terminator-esque damaged Ch'rell Saki, or even just like Casey with a cracked mask and rips in his shirt. I was told they couldn't do it because it was "for children". When I pointed out that (the currently running show at the time, 2003) had Leo get five ways to fucked up a couple of times (not in so many words) more than once and the Foot and Ch'rell examples were directly from the shows they're selling toys on (Foot actually from the previous, MORE kid-friendly show), I got no response. |
Waste of plastic.

Been looking forward to these. I love the FUN factor. These lines are almost always met with negative feedback. He specifically said these are geared to a younger audience. Mabey a collector company will get the licence. I hope it does well.

I like these for what they are; kids toys. There's nothing better or worse than what Jakks Pacific or Lanard did with their figures.
Perhaps for collectors, some other company will produce ginormous, photo-realistic, hyper-detailed figures licensed by Toho. These, however, are licensed by Warner Brothers & Legendary since it is their movie property. If this quality of toys came out when King Kong vs Godzilla was released in 1963, we'd all have been thrilled to death and had these on our X-Mas list. I'm hoping they'll throw in some 4" "scene" playsets with miniature buildings, etc.n like Bandai & Jakks did for G & GKOTM. But that's just me. |
The thing is the movie itself has been pushed back to May 2021 because of Covid. I'm sure NECA will do figures for this later on.

So are these actually taken from the movie i.e. Kong gets an axe/hammer etc? The scene of them clashing on what looks like a carrier is pretty cool. Wish they’d drop a trailer :)!
I liked the last Godzilla movies, though I feel they need to drop it with the Godzilla chanting theme song, and stuff like monsters kneeling to him kinda deal. That was a tad too cheesy! |

I have the 24" long electronic Godzilla by NECA. Since 2014, there has been NOTHING on the domestic market to make me want to add to it. To be honest, I am surprised that Playmates is even still in business. Especially after Star Trek (2009).
