Civilain figures

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, and I don't mean to redundant if it has, but how interested would everyone be in civilian figures to go along with your MU? Men, women, thugs, police...

I personally would love this and I'm surprised a 3rd party hasn't jumped on this...

Jason Abbadon 09-13-2011 09:05 AM

Once I get the comic pack Cage, his old fig will go to that purpose- random street thug, perhaps...

For real, that would be awesome.

I wish they could even at least release alter ego figures. It's a shame that in all the Iron Man variants released in the IM2 line they could not release one Tony Stark, let alone Rhodey or Black Widow.

Do Boy 09-13-2011 09:16 AM

I think someone has mentioned it in another thread not sure if there was a thread about it. But I would be prone to buy a few

Nexodusrex 09-13-2011 09:19 AM

there are stuff out there. like the fleeing in terror figurines or the paparazzi figurines. as for thugs you have the Drednoks from GIJoe.
For Police if you can find them, the GCPD figures from the 4 inch mattel line. you can edit the GCPD to what you want.
for basic military soldiers use Gijoe. greenshirts or any of the most standard looking characters. if your creative I'm sure you can find a lil somthing for everything your looking for.

Jason Abbadon 09-13-2011 09:20 AM

Well, Cage and Mary Jane make great bucks- just add GOJoe heads and you've got a pair of hostages.
Sadly, the Mattel stuff is far too small....I really wanted generic cop types too.

I'm hoping they release that Black Widow in the Avengers line. I like the one released in the MU line, but I wanted both.

And I'd love a comic series with Peter Parker/Spider Man, Tony Stark/Iron Man, Bruce Banner/Hulk, and....?

Any ideas?

It was me; CLASSIFIED!

I mentioned it in the "What MU Figure do you Want but Won't get Made Thread".

Yep exactly, look for GI Joe and other 1:18 scale figures that would work. There hasnt been any 3rd party MU figures as of yet from what I know and id be surprised to see any made. The investment in creating the molds would be too much to sell something for slightly more than retail.

Considering we got Sif in the Thor line (if you can find her that is), I think we have a good chance of getting Black Widow in the Avengers line. Considering she's the only female member, it would be pathetic if they skipped her and they didn't even bother releasing the whole team.

But as far as that line goes, I doubt we will get a Coulson or Maria Hill.

ludovicotek 09-13-2011 10:39 AM

I would love some civilian figures. I've bought figures from other 3.75" lines to use specifically for this purpose. And Nexodusrex nailed it with the Dreadnoks, they make perfect street thugs. I've also picked up some of the TRU True Heroes Police and Firemen to use as background characters.

This is from an older post, but it's a good example of some figures I've picked up to use as civilians and using the Dreadnoks as thugs. Mutt from Indiana Jones, Elizabeth Swan from Pirates 3 and Coulter from Golden Compass.

If you like setting up dioramas than sure why not, but otherwise, absolutely not.

Boba Fettuccini 09-13-2011 11:02 AM

I've been making a few of my own. Greenshirt GI Joe body tops, Cade Skywalker head, repainted Storm Shadow legs... great generic punk.

Thanks for the ideas Ludo. Once I get off my action figure hiatus, I'll have to look for those. And something to use as sidewalk but that's another matter.

fosterlager 09-13-2011 11:25 AM

I just gotta say, Shia at gunpoint makes me happy.

Other than that, great topic. Do those generic soldier six-packs from Walmart work at all, or do they have molded guns, armor and crap on them that would make them not pass as civilians? I'll have to take a closer look as I make the rounds this weekend.

Alter-egos I could see happening, a Peter Parker in jeans with a camera, Stark in a suit and tie, Hank Pym and Gwen Stacy, et cetera.

quinten182 09-13-2011 11:42 AM

Reminds me of heroclix.. you had all these heroes then the random SWAT guys and gotham police and thugs. I'm not sure I'd be interested for MU though.. already soooo many figures to figure out where to put as is.

So am I...

I mean think about it; with DCUC, MOTUC, 30th Anniv. Joes, and what not; clearly there is a collector market out there that I bet would eat this concept up.

That, and I've wanted random goon figures for my superheroes to beat up for the longest time.

Riddler's not much of a threat to Batman without a gaggle of thugs to back him up.

On a related note; who else here troop built Bob the Goon after the old Batman movie?

I had two of him lol I really liked that knife he came with. Not sure if that counts as "troop building" but I did pretend he was just another goon.

Optimus Vader 09-13-2011 12:38 PM

There's that whole generic GI Joe aisle in TRU. They're cheap looking, but they're at least generic looking too.

Do Boy 09-13-2011 12:50 PM

I think as a selling point to the general market I say it would be a bad move. How many kids want a common person. No if it's geared towards collectors and people who like to display there figures. I could be very smart move because people will tend to buy more then one of these.

I had an "army" of 3 or 4 I amassed before I realised he was representative of that guy in the movie.

I know, I know, but sometimes its hard for thiught to penetrate my paperbag.

quinten182 09-13-2011 01:58 PM

Optimus is right, toy aisles have loads of those generic firefighters, cops, army men, etc. They can work

Not if you're looking for goon, mobsters, innocent victims and civilians.

I think cops make perfect goons.

I've contemplated picking up some True Heroes cop guys for my villain figures to make pizzas out of before the good guys come and save the day.

Kind of like Hacksaw Jim Dugan getting squashed by a monster heel before they face Hulk Hogan at the Pay Per View.
