Favorite browser?
So yes, this is a big question. But what is your favorite web browser?
I would say FireFox. Its fast, easy to use and has great add-ons like ad blocker (TronSector in-site joke: it fights for the users ;)). IE is okay, but I found it too slow and it would crash a lot. Never had any of those problems with FF. But I still have XP so no new IE. That could make a difference. I only have Safari on the iPod and it is terrible. No need to try it on a PC to find that out. Also I just downloaded Chrome to try out. So far not bad, nice layout and all. I do miss the toolbar across the top since its easier to see everything that way instead of its single drop down box. Not a huge fan of the new tab page with all the apps, add-on links, Google social network stuff, etc. Apps are for Apple (and mobile devices), social networks for FaceBook and add-ons for their own website. I use my browser to search the web, come here, go on Ebay and stuff like that. But enough people must like all that stuff or Chrome wouldn't do it. Also find FF faster, but that might be just me..... So please share your thoughts on what you think of the different browsers and what you think of the different things I said about them. :D |
I only use IE at work because certain applications only work with it. At home I use both Chrome and FF. FF tends to crash on me, regardless of updates, and Chrome has always been solid.

when you say you have xp so no new IE what do you mean, you can upgrade to IE 8 with xp or are you referring to IE 9?

IE and FF

I had IE and didn't enjoy it. The thing would crash a lot and generally acted buggy. So I tired Firefox. It's works fine enough but still crashes. Adblock is frickin glorious though, when I have it enabled I don't think I ever see an add. I wanted to try Chrome but decided that I just didn't care enough to keep searching for the perfect browser, you know? Firefox does it's job well enough and that's all I really need.

FF and then chrome after that.

IE 8, FF and Chrome at work. FF and IE 9 at home (Windows 7 doesn't really give you a choice when it comes to the version of IE you can use). Never cared for Safari or Opera.
My favorite overall is probably FF, but sometimes it depends on the website. |
safari is awful. crashes on me daily, but i like how it looks on my mac. I rarely use Firefox though.

Chrome for sure. On 3 different computers, Firefox takes like 20-45 seconds to start up when I first click the icon. A couple of years back, some update did something, and its been that way on all 3 of these computers. My main PC at home takes about 30 seconds. I just got sick of it.
Chrome seems much faster, and I am very used to it now. |
