My first Play Arts Kai figure, and he's broke

Oh wow, I just got my first Play Arts Kai figiure (Kratos), and I am very disappointed with him. I paid $75 for him and he is missing the knee piece on his boot that has the chains on it and his left right joint is broken. If I pull his hand off, the joint piece falls right off. THis is very upsetting and the store I bought it from does not accept refunds or exchanges (not that they had another anyway).

FancyPants 08-04-2012 09:13 PM

dude i'm really sorry to hear that. I'd be beyond pissed.

FancyPants 08-04-2012 09:14 PM

can you tell us who you bought this from? so we know not to do business with them in the future?

A local store called TradeSmart.

Anyway, I contacted Square's customer service about it, to see if they can either just replace the pieces or send me a new one.

Shop smart, don't shop at TradeSmart.

damn right. What kind of shop doesn't give refunds? Well, a crap one.
Sucks your kratos broke. I've heard a couple of people say the kratos has some QC issues. It's seems pure chance which PAK figs are solid and which fall apart. You think they may have sold you a knock off maybe?

No, there is no way this is a knock-off, and this store sells other PAK, some of which my other friends have bought, and they are all legit.

Anyway, I saw a Youtube unboxing review where the guy had the same thing happen to his wrist joint that happened to mine as he pulled the hand off. His had the plate on the boot, but his Kratos came with two open right hands instead of one closed hand, so his can not even hold a weapon.

While waiting to hear back from Square, I called TradeSmart up and spoke with a manager. He looked the figure up in their system and found that they have one on order, and it may show up in Thursday's shipments. He said if he sees it come in, and he will set it aside for me and has no idea why the guy I spoke to yesterday said I could not exchange it for a new one. That is some good news at least if Square does not get back to me before Friday.

My Sneaking Suit Snake's shield broke, and his head never popped on properly. I honestly think most of them are shit for their price. You have my sympathy. Go get the NECA Kratos. NECA > Most toys.

I have the NECA ones, but I absolutely hate NECA. I find their quality control to be about as good as DC Direct, meaning non-existent. Joints break easily, there is hardly any articulation (their RE figures were pretty much statues), and everything just feels fragile. Plus, NECA does not seem to understand the concept of a license. They get a license, and they release one to two friggin characters and then move on.

They get God of War, a license that has a vast multitude of characters and creatures out of Greek mythology. So what do they release? Five different versions of Kratos.

They get the Legacy of Kain license. Once again, another line with a huge amount of characters to choose from, they give us Kain and two versions of Raziel. Oooooooooooookay. What about Dumah, Mobius, the Serafan, Janos, Ariel, Zephon, Rahab, etc?

They get the Castlevania license. Sweet, right? Sure, except, they release three characters from SOTN, one of them was nothing more than a miniboss, and two versions of Simon Belmont. No Maria, no Richter, no Shaft, and then none of the characters from other games like Trevor, Sypha, Grant, Shanoa, etc.

Lastly, they get the Resident Evil license. Surprislingly, they release all of these creatures, but when it comes to the characters, no Claire, Barry, Rebecca, Steve, and most important, no freaking Wesker. The main villian of the series does not even get a freaking figure. But they have plenty of minibosses and nobodies.

Oncd again they have done the same with the Assassin's Creed and Ninja Gaiden licenses. We get 1 Ryu Hayabusa, and then Altair and several versions of Ezio. No Da Vinci, none of the Borgias, nothing.

Ugh, that sucks bro. Sorry to hear it. I got a Hot Toys Cap with a messed up jacket. That one HURT!!!

Dark Hayabusa 08-05-2012 04:27 PM

from personal experience, my neca kratos had bad joints. The wrist broke when I tried to push his weapon in his hand and the stand was too small. so he fell over and the ankle broke. But at least he had a stand. Something PAK figs could do with

Damn Scott, that sucks some serious @$$...I hope they gave you a replacement?
With how much Hot Toys figures cost, there should be no excuse whatsoever for screw ups....imo.... :/

I was always wondering if I should get a NECA Kratos, but I guess now I know better....
...On a positive note, I haven't had any problems with my PAK Kratos yet and I've had him for over a month (and played with and posed him several times)
The only PAK I've had any problems with so far (I just got into the line recently when AA: Bats and Joker came out) is Nathan Drake. His shoulders kept "popping" out of the socket at the shoulder blade completely whenever I'd try to move his arms out so I used some epoxy sculpt on the ends of the pegs pushed them in and left them overnight...haven't had a problem since...thank god... :)
