So they are going to be running both regular Battle Beasts AND minimate Battle Beasts?

Seems kinda redundant.

What do the minimates offer that the regular series won't?

All the Diamond Select Battle Beasts are Minimates. They're really Battle Beasts in name only, not anything like the originals.

Takara/Tomy is doing Beast Saga, which look more like the classic Battle Beasts.

And we're not even sure if Beast Saga will get a North American release yet.

But the Bat Minimate above would make a great base for a Man-Bat custom.

The main thing these Minimates have over Beast Saga is articulation.

Man this is pretty bad looking, not just because it's not very Battle beastish, but it just looks poorly executed unless the is an early proto.

I don't like the mix of blocky and sculpty. Go with all-blocky or all-sculpty. I never did like when Lego does, like C-3PO or the Ewoks, or Kubricks that have fully sculpted heads.
