Django dolls protective shell for mounting?

New to collecting figures here.

I just ordered a set of the new Neca Django figures. I would like to mount each one on my wall. Are there any sort of plastic cases/clamshell type boxes that would fit them? I've done a bit of searching and can't seem to find anything.

Thanks for any help.

PoisonCoyote 01-21-2013 03:41 PM

Now that these have become discontinued, I really need cases. Any ideas yet on what is the best way to protect them?

behindthemask 01-21-2013 03:52 PM

I don't think there are protective cases that big, u could get a model car display case and lay them sideways or flat, or perhaps a shadowbox frame and do them up nicely with a matte print in behind, or get yourself a fishtank or something of the sorts, lots of ppl get rid of fishtanks for free or cheap, and would look cool, just make sure to clean it first.

DHeezy81 01-21-2013 03:52 PM

Order custom acrylic cases from toygrader.

PoisonCoyote 01-21-2013 04:16 PM

Thanks for the replies. Just in case anybody else has other ideas, the size of each box is: 5.75"x2.5"x10"

I was interested in this thread to see what would possibly turn up. But for $5000+ for a set now, I gotta trade mine in for down-payment on something sporty.

Man, no kidding. Think this is short lived hype? I'm sure the value will always be pretty high here on out but not sure if it will climb much more.

sabretoothe 01-21-2013 05:40 PM

it'll nose drive in about 3 weeks.

DogFashionDisco 01-21-2013 07:49 PM

I wish I would have bought a set to resell, it would have been plenty of cash to get an engagement ring.

Some people. What was retail on those things to begin with?

$25-30 depending on where you got them. I got my case from Entertainment Earth for $230 shipped. It was 0430 of the morning the were pulled from retailers on the trip back to NECA. Exactly 2 weeks ago today. I had no idea the controversy was so "heated" when I ordered them. My initial thought was to sell my extras at cost and make a lil back. My frugal self really didn't wanna pay $50 for Django and $40 for Hildie. XD

My sets launch tonight on eBay at 21:00 est.

Iceman 01-22-2013 10:25 PM

Have they said they are going to destroy their stock? I feel like they will just get sold later once this blows over. That's usually the way of things.

DHeezy81 01-23-2013 08:48 AM

Where you fucked up is making ridiculous BIN prices. $6,800 for the set? You're just being greedy. You'd have been better off letting the bidders drive the price.

Not really. He has the best offer option and some people are asking almost twice that much. It's crazy. If you are selling an item and you want the max price listing at a high price with option for offers is usually the best way. Reason being that since everyone will have a high price that gets into people's heads. If you list for $.99 who knows if you will get many bids. It doesn't matter if your BIN price is a million dollars because people can still just offer what they feel it's worth. An auction can often end up with a low price, which is good for buyers looking for a deal, but not in the best interest of the seller. When I do an auction I only do it to avoid listing fees and I never put it lower than what I'm comfortable selling something for.

I based the BIN price on:

A) The other guy that has sold 2 with a BIN OBO $6000. At the time I posted mine he had one up for $8000.

B) It was ending Sunday and I deduced a slightly higher demand before the hype fizzled out.

C) The OBO I would have accepted was quite a bit less. I was hoping the offers would come rolling in Saturday or Sunday.

D) If they stayed up the entire time, didn't sell, and I didn't accept anyone's offer, that's cool too. I'll just keep them. Not trying to sound self-centered, but if anyone in the world should have these things, it's the guy who's favorite movie is Django Unchained (I'm serious about that) and already has a AF collection in the 1000's.

But none of this matters now being that eBay cancelled my auctions! But for some reason they still have 64 other Django toy listings up!? I'm hoping these were people that said "fuckit" and re-listed them anyway- despite the letter! Because if mine got taken down while others didn't, it is discrimination.

Iceman 01-23-2013 05:17 PM

Since when does ebay police what action figures can and can't be sold? I assume if a product is recalled because it's dangerous they will try to keep it off their site but I've seen banned/recalled video games and stuff up there with no issues.

Colder Soldier 01-23-2013 06:33 PM

They sent me a "We're sorry but unfortunately..." message and directed me here:

Offensive material policy

This whole ordeal has turned into a clusterfuck of civil rights all around. I don't blame Al Sharpton, Islamic Hope, NECA, or eBay, but I do disagree with all of them at the moment. Wow.

I revised my auctions and they re-launch at 2100.

Iceman 01-23-2013 06:50 PM

That's just crazy. They must have people out there shooting harassment e-mails to places like ebay.

And yet, these are still up for preorder.

Colder Soldier 01-23-2013 07:27 PM

Well, hell. Maybe my figs won't go back up. It says they're active on my selling page but they're nowhere to be found on the site.

Oh well. Just pre-ordered myself that Enterbay Django.

I do! Really the issue they have should be with the movie. Not any merchandise. I highly doubt many children would be buying these & even if they did. I don't think it would magically make them think that slavery is cool. I can't see any boys buying them as they're dolls not action figures. I don't see many girls wanting them either. I see adult collectors buying them. Last I checked, we were free to make our own damn decisions as to what's offensive and what isn't. Al Sharpton isn't king of all black people. Obviously Jamie Fox had no issues with it.

Colder Soldier 01-23-2013 07:58 PM

This was part of my revised auction that didn't get re-listed...

Note from the seller-

Tales in which unlikely heroes living in unfavorable conditions, who must fight for justice and for the ones they love is the basis for the majority of every story ever told. Django Unchained is no exception except for the fact the hero is one that is so rarely portrayed. Now that such a fictional hero exists it's sad to see so many people in the real world that may actually share a commonality with him can't even bare to compare themselves. That is well and fine, but to each his own and theirs is not mine.

Though many of the majority may feel that all black people are the same, with similar thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, let me assure anyone who doesn't know, that IS NOT true. Regardless of the proclaimed titles of "Black Leader"- AL SHARPTON, SPIKE LEE, ISLAMIC HOPE, and no other person, persons, or organization need to ever speak for me unless formally appointed by ME. Despite anyone's efforts, no way can ever make the atrocities of American slavery disappear. At least now the common knowledge of its evil can be openly expressed and denounced publicly through whatever forms of media an author chooses. I am not offended by, but actually embrace the items I'm selling in this auction. As a black man descended from American slaves, and avid toy collector- I absolutely loved the movie Django Unchained, and I am happy and grateful the movie and these collectibles were made.

Sincerely,
- Anthony Johnson (Colder Soldier)

Odd, I see only 4 other listings now for them. I bet there's a lot of pissed off people out there who had them selling for thousands of dollars who had their auctions canceled before they ended.

W/out ebay, they'll be even harder to obtain. Making the prices climb even higher. Nice little lottery ticket you got there! lol

And if the remaining supplies do make it into the wild an artificially high secondary market price will have been created. Because of something like this the resale value will always be higher than it would have been otherwise.

I don't get all this nonsence over these toys. What if I found toys of Jeasus and Charles Darwin offencive to my beliefs. Some people feel the same way about G.I. Joe and all military toys. I don't understand how they can be forced to recall them after they have been produced just because of a racially charged movie. Inglorious Bastards had toys why not Django. Even with a huge secondary market value, some one is loosing $ over this. Is the factory going to destroy them of wait till it all blows over? This is quite a mess.

trebleshot 01-24-2013 07:00 AM

If the licence holder says to pull product based on their IP off the shelves, then NECA has no choice. Doesn't matter why.

Django Unchained (2012) Toys, Action Figures, and Collectibles

Well, those aren't the NECA figures and the NECA ones are the only ones we know were pulled. The others may follow suit, or they may quietly stay on preorder until the heat blows over.
