The next 5....predictions
 

After reading on Marvel.com again that there will be 23 new MU figures (assuming they mean single packed figs) , I thought it be fun to try and predict who the next 5 figures will be. So not a wishlist but more of an attempt to see if we can think like hasbro...and if they think like us when it comes to who is in demand. I still believe will see new comic two packs at SDCC, exclusives, and eventually new team packs so we could try and predict some of those too.

My guesses for the next 5 are
1. Ares
2. Fantomex with black variant
3. The Hood
4. Black Cat
5. Ant-man with Black Ant variant

If they make another 5 pack I'd guess it being Alpha Flight
Including Guardian, Shaman, Northstar, Aurora & Sasquatch with Wendigo variant

Cannonball & Sunspot
Secret Agent Venom & Beast (Avengers)

Predictions of likely team packs

90s X-men (Bishop, Forge, Storm)
JGSHL (Professor Logan, Kid Omega, Oya with mini Brood)

Not really sure but I like what you are saying. I love the idea of the Alpha Flight pack and the 80's Avengers with Captain Marvel. I have slowed done what i buy but I would drop cash for those

Likely? Looks more like a wish list. I don't see them ever making some of those figures sadly.

Black Knight - The mold was already previewed last year.

Sasquatch - There have been rumors of this, and also a drawing of the character appeared on recent cardbacks.

Wasp - I know I"m biased here as she's my most wanted, but there are logical reasons - Shes' a founding avenger and been around for 50 years, has just returned to the comics after a 6-7 year absence, is going to be on Marvel's newest "flagship title." She's basically now returning to the stage for the first time since the line started.

Lady Deathstrike - High profile Wolverine villain, with the Wolverine movie they may try to tie that in somehow.

Not so sure on the 5th. I have a ton I'd like to see (Selene, Polaris, Grim Reaper, Justice, Count Nefaria, Forge or various New Mutants and Thunderbolts come to mind) but I think it will be another more high profile character like Viper or Bishop. Not sure which one though. Bishop would complete the classic Jim Lee 90's lineup, but yet Viper is a fairly high profile MU, Captain America and Wolverine villain. Tough to say which is more likely.


To be fair, on my personal bias here, yes I'm putting my #1 most wanted in up there. But Sasquatch isn't even in my top 30 most wanted, and of Deathstrike, Viper, Black Knight and Bishop, only two are in my top 10. So I'm not trying to look at it just as what I want.

They HAVE to do Ant Man & Wasp. Why they've ignored them for so long is beyond me. But after that, I think it just becomes a wish list. For my top 5 I'd love to see:
1) Black Knight
2) Viper
3) Black Cat
4) Banshee
5) Beetle

I think some good ideas for comic packs would be
1) Morbius vs. Blade
2) Wolverine vs. Lady Deathstrike
3) Daredevil vs. Typhoid Mary
4) Tony Stark & Pepper Potts
5) Peter Parker & Mary Jane Watson

Some other I would love to have would be Classic Moonstone, a good Venom, Whirlwind, Dazzler, a more current Firestar, Baron Strucker, Hope Summers, Songbird, Vulture, Ant Man II, Fantomax, Jack O Lantern, Goblin Queen....

I guess my list could go on & on!

My predictions are different from my want list. I assume Hasbro will A.) be more prone to re-use molds B.) lean toward less obscure characters and C.) try to use stuff in the pipeline already.

1.) Red She-Hulk since they've got a handy She Hulk mold)
2.) Black Knight (rumored to have a mold already)
3.) Ant-Man (I assume they have the mold and he's got a moving coming, but then again, may just wait for his own line)
4.) Sasquatch/Wendigo (in the pipeline I hear)
5.) Scarlet Spider (the new one)

I wouldn't be super excited about them (except Ant-Man), but its just a prediction.

Now my want list that I actually think could happen versus wishful thinking) goes more like this:
1.) Cannonball/Sunspot two pack
2.) Shaman
3.) Bishop
4.) Ares (even though I have a kick ass custom of him)
5.) Kingpin

Well if we were doing an actual wishlist it'd be Wasp, Selene, Count Nefaria, Polaris and Grim Reaper.
The problem with my personal top 5 though is, that Count Nefaria, Selene and to a lesser extent Grim Reaper, do not show up on many wishlist threads we see here. Polaris makes a decent showing but Wasp actually shows up quite a bit.

For this thread though it's not so much about what we personally want but more what we think Hasbro will actually make.

Though I do under what you're saying. We're all fanboys here, and any kind of list we make, we can't help but put our own personal wants into it in some way.

Yeah, this lists all come down to our own personal wish lists. But I like your picks, especially Selene & Grim Reaper. I'd buy those in a second.

Hey Strongchad, I like your qualifications when trying to think about your predictions. I was trying to think along similar lines too. I didn't think of the new Scarlet Spider though but he's a dead ringer for an easy to do re-paint and bam! new fig.
To everyone else, Hi guys :) Yeah to some extent all of this is pretty fanciful thinking but I've seen some pretty I think reasonable guesses and I feel like I do see general trends in which characters they choose that makes it possible that together we'll have guessed at least some of what might come up next. I'm sure some of you all have noticed trends too, like doing re-paints with new head sclupt, packing one large frame figure a wave, issueing two-pack characters on single card etc. Anyone notice any particular trends that interest them? And I do feel a lot of characters people/consumers bring up do then get made. Not to say Hasbros reading forums or polling fans or putting out the products that they have shown but not released but even if then just by coincidence, characters i've seen on multiple peoples wishlists over the last couple years are getting made. So i think its good to talk about wishlist characters too. But again maybe those were just the no brainer characters to make next *shrug*

Next 5 based on rumors, real possibilty, and my opinion.

Classic Avengers 3 pack: Black Knight, Masterson Thor, and Thor Frog.

I put Radioactive Man in because he's a little more "appreciated" than Tigershark who I think will stay exclusive.
The 3 pack offers 2 rumored characters and a Rocket Racoon-esque figure to rip us on another 3 pack. I couldn't think of another repaint that they could throw in with that 3 pack other than Cap.

I would love a lot of the ideas that have been posted but I don't know how viable they are.

I have long stopped buying a lot of MU, selling pretty much all my collection off/trading , but if some figures are done well and fit in with my ML collection I'll be buying them like antman, wasp, sasquatch and Wendingo would be awesome to be little siblings/kids to my ML figures lol. I got baby cyclops coming in the mail just for photo possiblities.

Was longshot ever blue?

He's black costume is sometimes colored blue. I think it was one of those is it black or not things like Storm's is it black or white costume. Or maybe it was just blue on X-men the Animated Seires :)

Hmm, just five...

1. Ares- This has been on the top of the most wanted list for many forums. Hasbro cannot be that oblivious.
2. Black Knight- The design image was released a little while back, only a matter of time.
3. Death's Head- ^See above.
4. Black Cat- This one's just too easy not to do. New female mold in black, Medusa's head sculpt with new hair piece. Done.
5. Phoenix- I'm a little biased on this one. :P Scarlet Witch body, paint accordingly. New head sculpt and hair.

1. Ares seems obvious from the Skurge body. But 3 pack for Dark Avengers with Protector and whoever else? Potentially Thunderbolts too. Atlas, and Songbird in particular somehow, probably with Citizen V or luke cage. They pair up too well as to what they are.

2. More Dark X-Men(Mimic, Mystique, Daken, and Omega) for Cloak and Dagger delivered in some form. Probably a 3 pack to pair up well with the evil team theme above.

3. Moonstar from Valkyrie's mold, New X-Men Academy X or new mutants to fill out the rest. Probably new mutants with the constant rumblings of that movie being what's after these two(public awareness is higher then) or possibly even just Dazzler and Pixie or Magick and her two forms. In fact that seems almost perfect. Team pack of Moonstar in her Asgard gear, Full on limbo demon Magick with soul sword, and Pixie with soul dagger. Then variant pack it as normal Moonstar, Magick(with minor armor and soul blade), and Cypher(easiest). So I'm expect some new mutants and academy X kids to follow around Moonstar.

4. Defenders 3 pack of modern colors on the strange mold, red she-hulk(from the she-hulk mold) with sword, white iron fist. Or similar themed hulk packs of Skaar, Red, and sensational She-hulk, with another being Abomb, Hulk, and Red she-hulk. Or a Secret Avengers 3 pack that has Flash Venom, Ant-Man, and a new Moon Knight. More likely some kind of balance between X-Men, Avengers, and independantly associated. So X-Men heavy this early makes it seem like Hulk or another avengers (secret? Academy? New? Uncanny? etc.) are next. That is assuming they don't try to work a cap one in somehow since they do have a thor one. Potentially an IM3 one too. The movie profiles are too strong.

5. Phoenix 5 Cyclops from his new 3 pack mold. In fact I wouldn't be surprised to see that 3 pack have a phoenix 5 variant of those same characters.

Death's Head, Black Knight, Ant-man, and any other mold we've seen in one shape or another I expect to find a release somehow. This includes any variants they've talked about like Sasquatch/Wendigo from Beast. Except for maybe fin fang foom(he honestly has clearance written all over him).

I also consider Marvel Now figures mixed with predicted popularity or otherwise noteworthy characters to be a no brainer. It's really hard trying to judge timing based around strongest retailer moments caused by films or other properties and news.

Avengers seems the strongest so it's the safest bet. Same to X-Men.
Using those themes though they can mix it up. Thunderbolts, Dark Avengers, New, Secret, Uncanny, Force Works, Academy, Arena, and so on to keep the buzz going.

The same could be said of Spider-man with avenging, and so on once retailers are done unloading old product.
And again X-men with their various.

All of these are dependant on sales of the coming packs though as water testers if the properties are still that strong. The stronger the WCA and X-Men packs sell, the more likely we'll see more of those two types in particular.

These are also just my predictions within moderate reason.

I'm sure some people are sick of me moaning about this, but there is a Marvel Universe Death's Head designed and rendered in a Hasbro computer somewhere.

@ Snowflakian, I imagine that you are correct in thinking that we will heavy-handedly see Avenger and x-men themed 3 packs. It almost seems like a pattern of Avengers, X-men, other, repeat.


@ Wylde Bil , thats because this isn't a wishlist thread per se. While still full of wishful thinking, we've been trying to do so with an eye to predicting who the likely next wave of 5 single packs will be and other possible or likely products Hasbro might put out. Who do you think are the most likely 5 figures Hasbro will make next?


And I do believe we will see a diamond-uped Emma. Rereleasing that same three pack mold with only such a slight change can't be that hard for Hasbro considering how many times they put out the FF pack. In fact I suspect that will be one of those things in the display case at SDCC they will change out.
