Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Well as most of you know, the trailer for Captain America: The winter soldier has been released. Without saying too much about it, it looks great! It has more of an action/spy movie look to it, not so much of a superhero movie. Anyway, let the discussions begin!

Mind is blown.
Thor is the appetizer and Captain America: Winter Soldier is the main course. New Cap suit is awesome. Sam Wilson - awesome. Natasha's looking good. Is that Nick Fury or Sam Wilson on the operating table. Either way it's bad news for Cap. I'm surprised we saw as much of the Winter Solider as we did. Can't wait. Possible Spoiler . . . . . . . . Frank Grillo appears to be the Shield Agent in the plane at the beginning that affirms to the other agent Cap jumped without a parachute. Grillo is cast as Crossbones. So, does he get recruited/turned/already is a double agent by Redford's character. Redford gave some details away so we know he has a particular world view that may not line up with SHIELD. |
More spoilers!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Redford said this about his role in CA:WS “I like the idea of playing a villain…I did that just because it’s a different thing for me to do.” Since it's a political thriller, my initial thought is he has a particular world view and how to control it. Not dominate, but police it. It might result in some morally questionable policies, which is alluded to in the trailer when Cap says to Fury, "This isn't freedom." Then again, Redford could have control of the Winter Soldier to justify a global police force and it's more extreme levels of espionage, similar to Palpatine masterminding a threat to the republic to create his own personal army. Just my thoughts. |
I saw a fan preview screening of this film earlier this evening.
My. Goodness. Second best Marvel movie after The Avengers. I can't recommend it highly enough. |
From here on out anyone ready should be expecting *spoilers* since the movie is out now.
http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/...ps35ac8913.jpg Just got back and wanted to give some quick thoughts. -Great pacing for the movie and felt it was over too soon even though it was a solid length. -By the time Winter Soldier showed up I had COMPLETELY forgotten he was supposed to be in the movie. That's not bad. He didn't actually showed up pretty early on but there was so much going down right from the start the movie totally pulled me in. Nick Fury being a total BAMF was great and I even thought they might actually kill him off for a minute there. -I had done my best to not see much about this movie outside of trailers and promo clips so I went in fairly clean. I was expecting something to do with Hydra or one of their projects but this was much more. Marvel did the same thing in their promotion of this movie that they did in IM3, by hiding A.I.M with the Mandarin. Only difference here is that Winter Soldier is real and I'm sure a lot of us will appreciate that. -The Triskelion! I hoped the Marvel movies would give this since AOS has mentioned it. I loved this place in the Ultimates and it being in D.C. makes a lot of sense. -Falcon is a boss. Loved how he was already established with his flight suit but just not active at the time. -Black Widow is finally interesting and well-used. She was tacked on in IM2 and I didn't like a lot of her dialogue for Avengers. Here she makes sense and lights up the screen. Plus, I don't think ScarJo has ever been in better shape. -Arnim Zola and Baron Strucker were so simple yet well used. -I knew that Sitwell dude was shady! -The movie being described as a political thriller is definitely accurate. They touched on Cap's past really well and gave us some quality emotion connections so we could understand what he was going through. -All my beautiful helicarriers!!!! Why!?! I guess they still have the original one and tons of S.H.I.E.L.D. stuff around the globe so I don't get the deal with people leaving to work for Stark or the CIA. Those places were probably defunded when SHIELD too over. How the heck is this going to work with AOS if there is no SHIELD? What about all the things they were keeping safe or prisioners? What about another "New York"? I don't see Marvel ditching SHIELD in the movies completely or permanently. -Is this the best comic movie ever? I think it's got to be my favorite Marvel movie but I'm on the high of having just seen it. I'll give it a couple of weeks and then see how it sits. It's different than a film like The Dark Knight but I think it's no less good. The parts I don't like have nothing to do with something wrong in the movie. Like, I just don't like that SHIELD is gone instead of rebuilding and it's all pretty bleak but that is clearly by design and I can't wait to see what's next. Post credits: I guess they have to explain Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch somehow but them being science experiments is kind of worse than no explanation at all if you ask me. |
There are a few words to describe Scarlet Johannson.. I'd likely get banned if I said them.. But bullet wound or not Bikini Please
Spoiler . . . . When does Sitwel visit T.A.H.I.T.I ? easter eggs Stan yes you are getting fired Did that building have the Fantastic 4 logo on it? Apparently Mr. Lau survived The Jokers Money pile to help run SHIELD and get zapped (and yes that was the same guy) |
Don't see any reason why Sitwell would come back. That burned guy is half way to being Crossbones now so that could be something.
That building was Stark Tower. It's still sporting the "A" from the battle in New York. As fast as they went I can see how someone might see a 4 though. It does appear he isn't as good at calculation as he let on. |
well Sitwell was ripped out of a car and tossed into oncoming traffic. Coulson was stabbed. Sitwell was hit by a truck
if that was an A then everyone targetted was an Avenger. |
I think the first person targeted is the President. I saw several politicians in there. Makes sense as they were around Washington.

Dexter does sorta look like the Senator or Arim Zola.. I wonder if that Prick was as painful?
|
Great movie! Looking forward to Cap 3. These movies have only gotten better over time, granted IM3 with the Mandarin was a lil disappointing. But other then that great story play.
