Chuck Builds GI Joe Kreo Firebat Attack
I was very excited to get my hands on this set as it's one of the first GI Joe 50th anniversary products to be released. The build is simple and fun which is something we've come to expect from the Kreo line. The mini figures shine as fan favorites Bazooka and Recondo join the Cobra pilot. As I mention in the video I think these sets are building to something as I see connection ports that would allow both the Firebat and Wolverine to interact with other vehicles. Highly recommended.

Nice review, although it sounded like you got a little too close to the mic in some sections.
Very tempted to get this and the Terrordrome for multiple reasons. Just not sure on the price and availability. $100 for the Terrordrome is just enough to make me question the purchase, which would make getting the Firebat kind of pointless for me (can't have one without the other, IMHO). I also really don't like that all Kre-O lines are going to be TRU exclusives now. Probably the worst news to come out of Toyfair this year (IMHO). But at least with the Joe sub-line, I think they were always exclusive to TRU, so they're not really affected by the news. On a side note, what did you think of the POC release of Recondo? I thought it was a pretty cool update, especially since he fit perfectly with the other G.I. Joe "Predator" toys. |

I've heard through the grapevine that the Star Trek and D&D sets underperformed so poorly that stores weren't going to carry Kreo anymore so TRU was the only option. $100 is high but there's always coupons and sales to even things out. I'm about 90% committed to the Terror Drome I just need to talk to a lego person about how many peg boards I'd need since I want it to have a base. Unlike the other sets, once it's together it ain't coming apart. I have POC Recondo but I haven't had a chance to open it, my enthusiasm dropped a bit when I heard about the neck/head issue. |

But I can definitely see how those two might have soured the opinions of retailers. Of course, it doesn't help that Battleship sucked as a movie and dragged down anything associated with it, like a sinking submarine. Quote:
For now, any building block set I get is assembled once (or a couple times if it's TF Kre-O/Contruct-Bots) and then put back in its box and stacked with the others. :( Quote:

D&D was announced at last years Toy Fair and hit the shelves last spring, I think, there really wasn't any advertising for it. I think it was supposed to tie in to some new card game that was/is supposed to attract the kids.
Recondo's neck peg is molded in such a way that the head is always looking down. |
Now you make me want to dig him out of my Joe box and look him over again. :p

Ya know I was looking over pics of the Terror Drome, and saw that it comes with a Sky Hawk which got me thinking; if the smaller vehicles that come with larger sets (Fang, Trouble Bubble) were released on their own would they sell better?

I'd definitely buy a stand-alone Trouble-Bubble. Same with the H.I.S.S. Tank and a few others.
