SH Figuarts Sadako Yamamura (Ringu/The Ring)

Earlier today, I was looking to see if a western release of Sadako 3D 2 had been announced yet. During my research, I sadly didn't find out what I was looking for, but I did uncover that a new book ("Tide") had been released in the series, as well as this....

S.H. Figuarts Sadako Yamamura - The Ring (Ringu) Figures

I'd been waiting some ten-odd years for a proper, high quality release of a figure from my favorite horror movie, and still bemoan the cancellation of NECA's proposed Samara Morgan fig. The only actual figure I've seen is a solid vinyl and I've been very skeptic about paying the $80+ US it goes for, especially since it's got PoC for PoA.

Nevertheless, I am absolutely elated to see that there's this on the way, with accessories and interchangable body parts.

that's insane that they actually made a figure of her!!!

Ninjinister 05-25-2014 01:59 PM

I'm actually surprised she's not thrown into the mix every time someone does a bunch of horror villain icons. Is it because it's a Japanese property rather than American, I wonder? I remember the reason given for the NECA cancelation was some sort of licensing SNAFU....

Eh, It's a decent fig but I would have thought a sideshow release of horror characters might have done her justice better. I'm not saying there is too much detail to work with in the beginning, but for me it just doesn't fit the price. But hey that's just my opinion I'm not a hardcore fan of the ring, I'm more of a RE, Siren, Parasite Eve kind of guy. I want an Aya Brea SH Figuarts fig soooo much

Would you mind extolling the virtues that a Sideshow Sadako would possibly have over this one? I'm not familiar with most lines outside of what I already collect. In fact this will be my first SH Figuart.

No problem haha, I hope you didn't think I was bashing it either Dx it's a pretty good figure, just not my cup of tea. Sideshow is a 12'' collectable line, focusing on detail and their stuff is probably some of the best I've seen from companies. Sideshow Collectibles | Specialty manufacturer of licensed and proprietary collectible products.
There is a link ^
The detail is pretty amazing when it comes to their stuff, I was thinking they'd make the hair a bit better instead of one big thing of plastic Dx and add a little more creepy/articulated femininity than the figuarts version. Anyway check out their stuff I highly recommend it but it is going to be a bit more than what you're used to i think lol.
Unfortunately as well they don't have The Ring figs but if enough people wanted more horror dolls/figs I bet they could be persuaded to do a line.
