DC is missing out!

There are no DC equivalent for Marvel Legends, Marvel Infinity and Marvel Mashers,WHY?

Poison Shadow 01-20-2015 03:27 PM

Because Mattel has the rights for DC stuff in that scale, and they are VERY good at squandering their DC licenses.

I mean, I like their Multiverse stuff... but it could be MUCH better. But, it's tough to be mad once I started looking at it simply as "they're saving me lots of money."

Nymesys Prime 01-20-2015 04:55 PM

Once they parted ways with the 4horsemen they didn't have anyone left to do the work with the same level of quality as 4H.
Right now the 3.75 are their saving grace but they might as well copy and make their version of Mashers just because we know its gonna happen sooner or later

Dr Kain 01-20-2015 05:15 PM

Their multiverse stuff looks like horse shit. The Harley and Joker they had in the store yesterday did not even look like Harley and Joker.

305Batman 01-20-2015 05:22 PM

I don't play video games but I would buy the Marvel Infinity pieces if I knew there were DC available, same with Mashers.

shortysben 01-20-2015 05:28 PM

Maybe because dc just isn't that exciting?

305Batman 01-20-2015 05:36 PM

How dare you sir!

warmachine6 01-20-2015 05:48 PM

Mafex batman is possibly the only dc 6 inch character i got the mattel dc batman from superman 2 pack and he looked good , but just felt lazy and could of had potential like legends,
i think marvel is perhaps more popular than dc in a way so hasbro has more money to spend than mattel , batman is the core or foundation mainly for DC as well as superman but mainly batman i think it will change due to new films coming out. So much room for potential though. the new 52 wave intrested me but i think the little things got to me , i felt the heads were too small. You cant expect Mattel to jump over Hasbro anytime soon. Unless mattel goes all out on a 6 inch wave when the new dc films come out which can help mattel. That being said new figures of batman the animated series line has got me looking and tempted to buy. Which are basically better JLU figures which are more articulate you think why not in the first place ? but not sure if mattel is making them

I appreciate both DC and Marvel, but he has a point. Marvel is dominating the market right now with their movie-verse, DC is falling way behind on that end. Batman will always hold a high level of brand recognition, but even Superman fell with Man of Steel. I want a Justice League movie to work, but something tells me Warner Bros. would rather rush in for a cash grab than try to do it right. If DC movies could rise to something close to what Marvel is churning out, then I imagine the toys would flow as well.

Steevy Maximus 01-20-2015 08:15 PM

Does Mattel still make Total Heroes?
That kind of covers DC Legends and Mashers :p

Long and short:
DC Classics were getting too expensive/obscure for retail, so they replaced them Total Heroes. And I'm not even sure how long Mattel will even make them.

Infinitys? Well, Mattel makes DC Multiverse (but only so long as the Multiverse extends to games and movies). And I'm betting that come next year, you'll be seeing Multiverse versions of the Batman v Superman film, not Movie Masters.

That's basically the reason I've not been as hard on Hasbro with their price increases: yes, it sucks, but at least Hasbro is TRYING to keep this stuff on the market, with relatively little loss to the product.
If things aren't profitable enough for Mattel, they just cancel or rework the line (as they did with Batman Unlimited/Evergreen, when it went from 5" to 3.75...at the exact same price)

I'm worried that Warner Bros. and DC are waiting too long. The average (non-comic book reading) moviegoers are eventually going to get tired of superhero movies.

while i've wanted those animated series figures as well, i've read nothing but horror stories about the way they break right out the box... so i've been holding off on those.

DCC (formerly DCD) just has an unfortunately bad QC problem. Having said that, obviously not all of the figures are broken or otherwise messed up. I only have Two-Face from the animated line but mine had zero issues, he was my favorite villain in the cartoon (both runs) and I extremely like the figure even with his tiny little feet.

You just have to go slow when moving the joints for the first time. Usually warming tight or stuck joints with a blow dryer first will get them moving easily. Also, you can't rip the figure from the plastic tray. If the figure is wedged in there really well, get some scissors and cut the tray. I have the first wave and didn't have any breaks. Try Batman or Mr. Freeze first though since they are a little beefier than the others. Also order from Amazon or BBTS since you can easily return broken figures easily to both.

Because Mattel has the DC Rights and they don't listen to the Customers. DCUC was successful but Mattel got greedy and shot themselves in the foot. After that DC Total Heroes was doomed because they burned the bridges in front and behind. As for Marvel Infinity is that the DC Collectibles/ DC Direct equivalent? They are still there just go to FYE.

Feijai 01-26-2015 08:40 PM

Good bye Mattel, you know you dead.

i completely agree.

not all of it looks awful.. i think the the burton batman and penguin look decent.. but you're right, for the most part.

also.. the fact that they rarely come with decent accessories is unbelievably annoying.. i mean, they don't even come with the weapon that image of the character on the packaging has (i'm talking about the front package artwork). it's ridiculous.

it's not like these are super detailed or super articulated.. so, at a $10 price point, i don't understand the lack of accessories.
