Does anyone know if ML X-men will rerelease?

Hello All,

I was really a fan of the marvel legends infinite series Storm, but never got a chance to buy her, because it was always sold out. In ebay now she sells for over $100 dollars now, and sometimes nearly $200.00

I don't want to spend that much money on an action figure, so my question was does Hasbro have a history of rereleasing action figures, or should I just bite the bullet and try to buy her off ebay for as cheap as possible?

I don't want to buy her for so expensive, and then later in the year they rerelease her again and this time its easier to buy.

Has anything with marvel legends/ Hasbro done anything like this before?

shortysben 03-21-2015 05:16 PM

Are you talking about the tru release one? Very limited run, hard to find, hasbro probably won't rerelease it

Trivial Psychic 03-21-2015 05:53 PM

I hate to break it to you this way, but unless the character is Captain America, Wolverine, Spider-Man or Iron Man...chances are you will not see a re-release. Your best bet might honestly be to bite the bullet, and try and grab her on ebay, or see if you can find someone willing to part with her here on the forums.

That damn Jubilee wave was ridiculously hard to find where I live. I only saw figures on the pegs twice the entire time they were in their primary run, and both times, it was only Wolverine to be found. I ended up grabbing Storm on Amazon at the time, but I still paid close to 40 dollars for her.

To answer your other question, Hasbro has re-released figures before. The recent Target 3 pack had a re-issued Cap, as well as the MLI:WS (WWII Cap) and the recent TRU Shield 3 pack also has a re-issued Nick Fury (albeit slightly different from the original one, which was released when CA: The First Avenger hit theaters and was also tough to find.) The Deadpool figure that came Warpath was nearly identical to the Marvel Legends one later released, but Hasbro decided to make life difficult by making the red version a European exclusive. Black Widow was impossible to find when the Winter Soldier figures first debuted, but has been easier due to repacks, but that is more of a re-pack rather than a re-release so it's not quite the same thing. X-Force Wolverine was re-released with the SDCC set (with a slightly different deco as well) but good luck nabbing that thing, because EVERYONE is drooling over the Psylocke and Archangel figures that come with that set, and scalpers flipping these sets know it.

Although again...look at the characters I just mentioned being re-released. Wolverine. Fury. Cap. All of them corporate mainstay characters from the comics or movie-verse. And in some cases, those re-issues took years to come out. It would take nothing short of an act of God (or a weather goddess) to find Storm on the shelves again in a ready supply.

(Although, I do wanna mention this...keep an eye out for Chinese knock offs. The Chinese are notorious for taking high value, high demand figures, and producing knock offs of various quality. The Hulk, Deadpool, and most recently Black Cat have all been done in the past, and if you're willing to have a placeholder in your set instead of the real thing, that could be a route to go. While I have not seen Storm done by them yet, it wouldn't surprise me to see one in the future if demand is high enough.)

I seriously had no idea that figure became so valuable. I have it just laying on the shelf with the few legends figure I own. Wasn't planning to sell but since it has value I do need some MU figures.

Ikr, mine is just laying on a shelf atm until I get some more Obitsu flight stands. Thinking about putting her back in the box and seeing where the market for her goes.

warmachine6 03-21-2015 06:49 PM

Jubilee just went out my price range for the figure at £50ish on ebay...
I think hasbro will try and release x-men next year with all the films coming out alongside gambit , dead-pool, and apocalypse or that's what im thinking ...
recently won an Emma frost whom to be arriving Tuesday or Wednesday [yes the hasbro one] for an new ML roughly £26.00 including P&P
guess hasbro feels anti-mutants , though we got scarlet witch from the new avengers wave but no quicksilver ugh makes my blood boil

Zend 03-21-2015 07:14 PM

Apparently Disney/Marvel doesn't want Hasbro releasing new X-Men/Fantastic Four figures, but it doesn't make any sense because they just released some MU X-Men figures.

Eitjer way, I doubt we'll see that modern Storm figure ever again. Its a shame that it had such a small, delayed shelf life. It really is a great figure, I just don't display her because I don't have any particular attachment to the X-Men aside from the Clone Wars game, the 90's show I haven't watched in ages, AvX, and now All New X-Men. Which has been getting kinda bad as time goes on.

This is what I thought as well!

Or maybe I was hoping there would be a SDCC 2015 release of the x-men...

Although I really like Storm, it just really sucks that the prices for her on Ebay are so high. Is there hope that maybe the hype will go down and maybe it will get cheaper?

From experience have any of you seen a marvel legends action figure that was really expensive for a while, but then perhaps hype died down and the figure became less expensive?

Starlord67 03-21-2015 07:52 PM

I've been trying to pick up a face off Captain America for around $40-$45 but it just ain't happenin. I say grab Storm when ya can!!

Phantomcrow 03-21-2015 08:29 PM

With Storm at that price, I would try to find somewhere selling a case and sell off the ones you don't want. You might even try your local comic shop and see if the assortment is still available from Diamond.

shortysben 03-21-2015 09:27 PM

If you don't want to spend a lot, just grab this one

Marvel Legends Storm Action Figure Toybiz Series 8 SEALED | eBay

Kirathis 03-21-2015 10:18 PM

I seem to recall something around the release of the Jubilee wave that it would be the last X related release for some time. I wish I could remember the source.

at the end of the day it varies on the figure and what your standards are, for example the new Scarlet spider from Hasbro shown at SDCC or NYCC one of two looks really awesome compared to toybizs version i remember seeing him going cheaper due to the Hasbro figure even though he hasn't been released, if you wanting to sell a cap.A figure its pretty useless now because of the avengers figs and MCU... so depends on what the hype is about the hype for x-men i think is next year
also if you like that rare hard to find figure might be replaced with something nicer like emma frost for being the worst ML I have seen but the second one was a huge improvement so might be worth the wait

I've seen some figures that were really expensive initially drop down a bit. MLI Black Widow, Black Cat, and Carnage were all averaging over 50 dollars for a while, but the prices on those figures has quieted down a bit thanks to re-organized cases. If the figure has no chance of re-distributed though later on down the line, and was hard to find as is, it's usually very unlikely you will see a drastic price drop unless you meet a fellow collector with a heart of gold.

Agree with all this^^ Highly doubt that they'll get a re release, but who knows when the next X-Men movie comes out what they'll do. I know for the Wolverine and the last X-Men movies those figures were still a pain in the butt to get. I ended up just buying the case from BBTS for the Wolverine one just so I could get Emma and sold the rest off.

Wow so happy that my friend grabbed her for me, I didn't know either, that's crazy :P

Agreed, those are still a bit cheap too...they'll still floating around as well to be able to get at retail if you're lucky.

OGTrilogy 03-23-2015 09:39 AM

I doubt that figure will be reissued any time soon. I guess I don't feel so bad about spending $40 on the Mohawk Storm I have. I jumped on the TRU exclusive X-Men figures when someone here on ToyArk shared a link to the website. I ordered them when they were all still in stock and there was a buy one, get one half off deal. I skipped Wolverine, but I bought everyone else to complete Jubilee. Cyke, Stryfe and Magneto all showed up in the mail, but I got an email saying Storm was on backorder. Later I got another email saying that my order had been cancelled. I got the 3 other figures for the same price as 2 would have cost, so I paid double for Storm and didn't feel too bad about it. She's a good figure and Jubilee is pretty cool too.

I suggest trying to Customize your own Storm figure. There are a couple of older Toy Bix versions that you might be just as happy with or you could try to cobble one together out of them to get the Marvel Now! look without having to do too much Customization. You could probably commission a really sweet custom for less if she's going for $100-$200 on the secondary market.

ultraman zoffy 03-23-2015 10:12 AM

The two things that kill me about this Storm figure being so expensive is that 1) as a body with no unique sculpting, she can be customized very easily, especially with the Odin Wave Carol Danvers coming with a free mohawk to use for it, and 2) the Jubilee build a figure is just a damn Spider-Girl body with a zipper painted on; pick up the other parts and a coat on ebay or off the forums and you're in there.
Triple digits for this figure (or, similarly, the Emma Frost figure on the janky Elektra base) is pretty nuts.

Captain Nash 03-23-2015 11:57 AM

This really makes me glad I went ahead and got them when I did. I think it was $25 for Stryfe, $40 for Storm, less than $20 for Cyclops (which is crazy because that was below retail cost) and $35 for Magneto, not taking into account s/h.

So....$120 for the four figures and a complete Jubilee. I guess that's pretty good now that I look at the current pricings.

As for the whole no more X-Men product coming in the foreseeable future, there is that Magik that is supposedly coming. I have to tell you, she was the most exciting thing to be revealed at SDCC last year. And if she goes MIA like Moonstar and Songbird I may just say "screw you, Hasbro", and quit the line, as that's one too many times. But after I get my Grim Reaper figure, of course. :D

Yeah I was a bit mad when I missed that BOGO deal, but at least I got the ones I want at retail cost.

ultraman zoffy 03-23-2015 01:18 PM

That BOGO deal was sweet... I had to go through the whole "your order may be cancelled" email drama like everyone else, but when all was said and done, my order made it through, free shipping and a discount. On top of that, a couple of months later, I was a local toy swap meet and got a 2nd Magneto and Storm complete with the Jubes parts for $10 and $15, respectively. My struggle was definitely not real with that wave. =)

Byrnes 03-24-2015 09:02 AM

I have Storm but don't really care for her. I should see what I can get in a trade.

I see them doing some sort of Comic X-Men release next year during the movies. And I seriously doubt these guys will be re-issued ever again. The popularity of ML seems to have taken off. The value of some of the older figures has really risen up over the last year.
