Cute 3D printed super heroes

1 Attachment(s)
Here are some simple 5 point articulation super hero action figures I recently made. The super hero guys are all owl themed. Then there is a deluxe police figure with two heads, pose able tonfas and a one wheeled scooter. I have two villains so far. The main bad guy is based on a rooster while the other one is a simple goon type figure. Although limited in articulation I still was able to get some fun poses out of them. All figures were 3D printed and painted by me.

Freaking awesome!!!! Love the detail and paint, my suggestion would be to make a pet owl companion to go with the owl figures, and for my brilliant suggestion maybe make me an extra ;).

:-) Thanks for the suggestion. It would be cool to have an owl to clip onto the arms of the heroes but the ABS plastic from my printer may be too rigid for that. I'll look into it.

I recently started using acetone to smooth my 3D printed figures. Here are some examples from the super hero line. It works quite well for these models. In some caes I used the reprint to slighlty update the designs as well.

I also wanted to see how easily I could give my 5 point articulated figure a modern articulation without compromising the original design too much. So I made one of the main hero character. I am quite happy with the result. I especially like that the body segments move as if the owl would move its head and body.

these are pretty cool man...and having seen quite a few "print outs" in real life...i was always wondering what method was used to "smooth them out"..i assumed they were sanded somehow...
How tall are they..
what program do you make the designs in..
how much for owl man? ;o)

Thanks! Depending on the printer you use different techniques to get the surface smooth. Acetone works best with printers that use ABS plastic for printing. Others need indeed something like sanding.
The figures are about 5.5 inches tall. I use Modo to model the figures in 3D. Unfortunately at the moment they would still be quite expensive to sell because of the material cost.

Here are some update. I finished making smooth versions of all the characters now. I also slightly modified some of them. Last but not least I made a new character, the bombing squirrel.

These look sweet. Will there be any more designs down the road?

Thanks! I hope to do more in the future. I first wanted to update all the old ones to the acetone smoothed versions but now I can think about new designs.

Kamatayan 07-17-2016 09:21 PM

These are really cool!

Gyntu 07-18-2016 12:25 AM

What really impress is the articulation, really great job! I know how hard it can be to 3d model designs with such amazing articulation and have them printed out faultless. Great prints, indeed!

Thor Laserpunch 07-18-2016 03:35 PM

Squirrel bomber is rad. In fact, they're all rad.

Acetone seems to do the trick nicely.

Just took a look on your 3d prints collection -- where you use sell all of them?

hauke 09-16-2016 12:49 PM

Thanks again everyone. I hope to have some more figures to show soon.

In theory every one of my figure can be bought. However they are still quite expensive to make so I do not advertise them too much in the hope that one day I find a way to make them cheaper. But there are some pricing examples on my website. Hauke Scheer: 3D Character Design and 3D Printing

And sorry for replying so late. Seems I accidentially turned off my notifications for the thread.
