Best place to buy McFarlane walking dead
Hey guys, I'm thinking of starting my walking dead McFarlane collection. What's been the best place to pick these up other than their $13-14 price tag? Any stores? Or websites? Or is eBay/Amazon the best?
Thanks! |
When I was collecting TWD figures, I actually found near the end that Walgreens was turning into my best source, being that hardly anyone was checking there, and the fact that many of the figures coming in were also exclusives. They were also releasing re-issues of older figures (Such as the Daryl/Michonne/RV Zombie re-releases that came out this past year.) so they were beating out Target and TRU.
As far as online sites, I honestly cannot recommend any other site than BBTS for new figures, as you can purchase them as a wave, and let them sit for a while so that you can build up a good pile of loot before having them shipped in order to save on shipping. Amazon can be good with newer releases, but be careful with Ebay, as a lot of people tend to think their MOC collections are worth hundreds of dollars. If you're just getting into it now though, Ebay could be a good source if you run into someone selling loose. I recently dumped my TWD collection on Ebay for much less than what I paid for it (19 figures plus Daryl's motorcycle for a little over 110 dollars,) and many others are doing the same, so if you're willing to buy loose, you might actually come away with a good deal. |

May I ask why you sold your collection? Just curious. I'm a little bummed not every character to date is out. I mean I feel we are missing a lot still from other seasons. And the lack of a proper Shane is very disheartening. I'd love to start but I'm just bummed there are still past characters missing. But I do see a Beth and dale and t-dog so that's cool. |

I got rid of my collection because I started to lose interest in the show, and because I started to feel like I really wasn't getting my money's worth after a while. I was just having too many QC issues with them, and the figures on a whole were just too darn fragile. Many of the accessories that came with the figures took some work to get in their hands, required modding the figure, or didn't fit at all, while interchangeable heads and gun holsters would often break right out of the packaging. While many of the sculpts were terrific, they also made for really hideous joints that ruined the look of the entire figure when using any of the articulation outside of their arms or heads. They were also giving me issues with displaying as well, as many of the figures simply do not stand well, or at all on their own. While many of the zombie figures come with display stands to remedy this, the survivor figures do not, forcing me to purchase additional stands from other suppliers, which after a while was starting to get very costly. I ran into the Dale figure today, as well as the new Rick, and was very impressed by the sculpts. If you're a fan of the show, I think you'll dig them. |
