Marvel Ultimate Series 11 1/2" (Disney Store Exclusives)

Just got an email from the Marvel store this morning on these figures which came as a complete surprise as I've never seen them before (?)
Looks like only Cap and Widow are available now, but with real soft good outfits, effects parts, and interchangeable hands and weapons they remind me of the Mezco 1:12 figures.

Here's Cap:
Marvel Ultimate Series Captain America Premium Action Figure - 11 1/2'' | Toys | Marvel Shop

And Widow:
Marvel Ultimate Series Black Widow Premium Action Figure - 10'' H | New | Marvel Shop

If you try to add one to your cart it says they are not available for purchase yet (on BW, it will let you with Cap)

I added both to my cart with no trouble. Even got to check out before I cancelled it.

This is what it says at the top when I click add to cart "Mission interrupted... this item is not available for purchase at this time."

Hmmm. Now I'm getting that for Black Widow, but Cap is still able to be added to the cart.

Seems on par with the 11 inch She-Ra line from Mattel. Where did 11 inch detailed clothed figures come from outta no where. (that aren't meant to be Barbie like)

What's with these companies making these big figures....

On the premium side of things like these, there is typically a decent collectors market for them. I'm not so sure on the overlap with superheroes, but previous classic films have done stuff like this and sold fairly well to high end collectors.

Curious what the sales data on these will reflect, or if that's what Disney/Marvel is testing too in comparison to their own Prince and Princess versions. I know the presidential line ones, and even the classic cinema ones did well enough for other companies.

Expanding the market is a good thing though overall. The more variety of merchandise that moves, proves popularity across all collector mediums, means more merchandise and funds for more merchandise and larger forays later.

Not quite to my liking, but I'd certainly grab the right character or two.

No prob, thanks for the shoutout (in the article)!

Well at least Disney has remembered people want Widow merchandise, unlike Mezco etc. I wonder how crippling international shipping would be.

Wow, Nat has got some major Aeon Flux hair going on! As a Black Widow fan I really want to like it, but I'm not big on the rooted hair. Though I am glad that younger fans, boys and girls alike, can both get this figure and love it. It's also good to see a Widow figure making it out first in a new series.

Ha! That 11 inch She-Ra was based on the new articulated "Made To Move" Barbie;).

It's either that or overpriced toys themselves *sigh*... I loath the toy shops in my country. At least, I can get some toys in good prices plus shipping in Amazon and Hobby Search.

I'm not a fan of super hero action dolls, but I'm happy to see the playline quality action doll market slowly expanding:). When will Action Man return:cry?! It was the best action doll line ever and my nostalgic childhood toy line.

Tim 07-31-2016 11:55 AM

These figures aren't the best especially considering the price point

Yeah, theres something about this figure thats kinda groundbreaking as it can appeal to pretty much everyone. I hope it sells well.

Snagged a Widow. Not bad in hand but I think I'll pass on Cap.
