Ok, the sculpt looks great. I don't think the butterfly joints look good on the larger figure. They will probably look much better in poses. In an odd way though I like them because they allow him to look more like a panther if that makes sense.

OriginalFire 07-17-2017 08:06 PM

This is great. I might get this. I'm so glad Hasbro is doing the 12" line. I wanna see some more Spiderman and some villains.

Tomax 07-17-2017 08:24 PM

it looks awesome but hopefully they do a 6" version

Bearjew 07-17-2017 08:57 PM

Still waiting for Punisher

evilekim 07-17-2017 09:24 PM

I like everything about the figure, except for the mask. I know that he has a new mask in the upcoming Black Panther Movie, but this looks more like a grin. Hasbro didn't execute that part of the mask very well IMO. I'll stick with the Civil War 6" version, that's one of my favorite Marvel Legends and a fantastic costume design.

lordbest 07-17-2017 10:25 PM

I'm glad they are still announcing new 12" figures, I was under the impression they were not selling very well. I'm definitely going to try and get this.
How about a Black Widow, Captain Marvel or She-Hulk though Hasbro?

Not selling well at full price anyway. The only one I saw move at full price was Deadpool, all the others had to go to clearance prices to move. The 6" line does a good job at this point of incorporating both genders into the line so I'd imagine the 12" line will get there. Some villains though are a must for this scale because otherwise the heroes have nothing to do but mingle with each other.

hasbroherofan 07-18-2017 06:00 AM

I definitely think we'll get a Captain Marvel for the movie.

Bearjew 08-15-2017 12:30 PM

I know this threat is a little out of date but having seen the Wolverine at SDCC and all the accessories plus knowing that these figures do come pretty stacked with accessories what does everybody think we will get with the Black Panther figure in regards to accessories?

Most of them haven't been loaded with accessories, Deadpool and Thor have been the exceptions and even then Thor doesn't include that much. I'm not counting SDCC Daredevil because if or when they do a standard Daredevil he could come with much less. BP might only have an alternate head and some hands.

Bearjew 08-15-2017 03:06 PM

Hmmm....Good point. However it seems to be a newer trend, starting with Deadpool. Then DD, Thor had a lot two hairs, heads, hands, hammers. True Hulk didn't but he was massive. They may not have started that way but it does seem to be a trend with newer figures.

I certainly hope so. Unless a figure is as big as Hulk it feels hard to remotely justify a $50 price, although from my understanding Hulk is more expensive.

Bearjew 08-15-2017 04:01 PM

Yeah Hulk is hitting $75.
I just can't think of any accessories that Black Panther can come with.
I agree with you though even as good as Thor looks to be with detail and everything he comes with I can't bring myself to pay $50.
Probably just me not loving the character enough because if Wolverine came out today and I came across him I would grab that up for $50. Probably 2 of them.

I did pick up the Daredevil SDCC though but that was more from the collectors perspective if that makes sense.

Bearjew 08-15-2017 04:04 PM

It is funny because $20 for a legends half that size, half the detail and most of the time half the accessories doesn't make people flinch but this line has people still not buying at $30.

Well not really half the detail since the paint apps and sculpt on the 6" line are pretty nice most of the time. I actually don't see most of the paint on the 12" line being any better or even any more really, it's the sculpting of the little things at that larger scale that pushes them up in my opinion to being more than just blimped up 6" figures.
I think the line's lack of sales is a big thing of collectors not knowing how long the line will last or if we'll ever get any more varied characters than just the most popular heroes with movies. I do understand that hesitation of jumping onto a new line in a new scale when the one that's more familiar is still going strong. The 6" Legends show no signs of slowing down with their momentum and have increased typical quality while also pumping out more figures over a shorter period of time (though that can be a problem) so I'd imagine very few people will have the desire to start up a collection for a totally new scale of all the characters they already have. Unless this is all some ploy from Hasbro to trick the 3.75" collecting community to push into the 6" game by making us think that the 6" scale is now the smaller scale and that the 12" figures are now the new main scale, those devious manipulative tricksters.

Bearjew 08-15-2017 07:56 PM

Lol yeah, sneaky devils. You are right though sculpt details has given them the edge. The 6 inch line has made major strides in their paint details. The face print paint thing they do has made their 6" figures excellent compared to past figures. Plus little attention to detail like the eye affect on the upcoming Cable figure shows that they are only improving in the 6 inch.

$$ & space for foot tall figures is probably the major factor in this lines soon to be short life span. 6' figures take up a lot of space, I can only imagine foot tall figures. Had they used this scale to make large sized MU characters to go with the 6' line, I'd be all over it. But getting 12' versions of characters I already have in the 6' scale? No gracias.

You never heard of Hot Toys before? I know those are really expensive, while these are aiming to be much more affordable, but there ARE people with space for these. Plus, for these, like with 6" Marvel Legends, a not-insignificant chunk of the audience are people who just want merchandise of a character, and aren't collectors of any line in particular. They see a cool figure of a character they like, they buy it. Doesn't take too much space to display one 12" figure.

Il Cattivo 08-16-2017 04:01 AM

whoa...keith david black panther???

sneaky indeed...

You have to consider that many collectors have some space to display figures or they wouldn't collect. Like most collectors they have the ability to rotate displays. They can utilize the space for a while to display a collection of 6" figures then box them up and display the 12" line.
