Random Figure from 3D Printing
1 Attachment(s)
Hi guys,
I picked up an XYZprinting da Vinci miniMaker at B&H for $169 and it was free shipping and no tax. I found this random ball joint action figure on thingiverse I believe and it was super easy to print out and assemble. Do you guys think you can use this in creating custome action figures? I know it doesn't beat injection molding, but maybe useful for prototypes? |
I think 3d printing is where everything is headed. Instead of 18 months concept to shelf time the majors will be able to design the figure on a workstation and sell the fileforyou to print at home.
I also wouldlove to see customizers get together and create a file sharing site for heads/body parts. |
Totally agree, 3d printing is going to be more and more common as part of toy manufacturing for both collectors and kids. It's already being used for prototyping industry-wide (not with the kind of ABS thread printers most home users use, is all).
