Need Help Identifying this fuzzy creature
 

I've been trying to figure out the name of this fuzzy plush for a few years. I just found it in my attic the other day. I remember it came with a small purple whistle and when you blew the whistle it would whistle back at you. I can't find the whistle, and the interior components that would of held the batteries are not in the fuzzy plush, could have been removed because of corrosion. My brother had the exact same one but it was a fuzzy red or maybe orange one. It was a christmas gift had to be between the years of 1986-1988 The tag is extremely worn but I can make out that it says animal fair. Any help would be appreciated.
