Marvel Figure Infinity War Mispackage
 

Hey guys I'm new here and to you collecting as well.

I recently bought the new marvel legends Captain America infinity war figure, the one with a BAF piece for thanos's head. I ordered t from amazon and it was fulfilled through them straight from the manufacturer. However when it arrived, instated of the proper figure I ordered, there was an Age of Ultron version of Cap. And the build a figure piece was a head from a previous BAF I haven't been able to determine.

The casing is right, it is the infinity war casing for captain America, even shows the pictures the figure was supposed to resemble. It even came with the new shield from the film.

I'm just wondering if this is common. The package hasn't been tampered with at all. So it wasn't someone taking the figure out and putting an old one in. I already called and talked to amazon about that.

Also I did reorder the figure and it came properly the second time. So if the first one is worth anything that would be nice to know as well

What most likely happened is that someone ordered the new Cap , got it , swapped it with an old one and re-taped the box, It may look official, but re-packers are very good at covering their tracks most of the time. It is not hard to do and happens more commonly than you would think. Then they sent it back to amazon for a refund and amazon just put it back in their stock. Not Amazons fault, not the fault of a store clerk when it happens in store either. Cam't expect them to know everything or the difference from one Cap to the next. And with the ultra rare exception, packinging errors are usually worth less than the correct version. BUT judging from your description it was not an error , just someone trying to scam amazon.

It's not an error, it was repacked. Marvel Legends figures 2014-now are in boxes closed with tape. It's not too difficult to remove and replace what is essentially scotch tape, without appearing tampered with. There is a Songbird at a Walmart near me with an Odin BAF arm replacing the MCU Thanos one. The tape looks perfect, but it's not an error. It was repacked.

Holy crap, this is happening with Amazon now?!?! I freaking hate scumbag repacking jerks. Sorry to see this happened to you. Get in touch with Amazon, make a stink about it. Get your money back and/or have them send you the correct figure.

mispackages are worth nothing, thats a myth about being worth more.....they swapped it out. people are getting good at sealing packages

I've been burned by this a few times, And Amazon may start to get nasty after a few times. Important to know. Amazon tracks goods by highly precise weight, And they log everything. If the package that returned to them had a different weight then the one tyhey sent it flags. If the one they sent you weighed differently then the product baseline, it flags. etc. They log all of this. So they can tell where the problem occurred.

Man we get one of these every two weeks haha

Not a myth. Genuine packaging errors used to be worth a lot on the after market to die-hard mint in packaging collectors. If it can be verified as one. Including packaging errors like brief runs with typos or other print text/image mistakes.

But that market isn't anywhere near like it used to be since the full advent of the internet age and how the collector mentality systems changed over time. Some of the older error packagings are still worth a lot though and are considered various series holy grails.

The mint in packaging collector system isn't anything like it used to be. That aspect of the market has changed outside of a handful of franchises, and really only pertains to stuff/certain franchises mostly made pre-2002.

Be careful with Amazon. I have ordered products brand new and it was missing a finger. So I sent it back and reordered another, and Amazon sent me the same one again.

Waiting for the day a true rival to Amazon appears, but alas none on the horizon. Amazon is a poop filled company but without anyone else to offer the same product diversity, they are king.

Better to reorder the figure a second time. Then get refunded on the first purchase, like the original poster did.
