ThunderCats new Cartoon
https://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=291&itemid=31113
I cannot believe they are using this cartoon style for thundercats but I hope this is a sign of new action figures to come, but not in this style. |
Is that Teen Titans Go, or Steven Universe?

"Thundercats ROAR!" is definitely something, uh, different. Though I hope the hype it generates makes them go back and at least do a closing out animated movie for the previous series. Doubtful, but it'd be nice. |
It's not April Fools Day though...
|
ill take it, teen titans meets steve universe. its a diff take but i like it
|
I think it is more OK KO mixed with teen Titans go. I am willing to watch it. At least it is better than the Rock and Roll teens cartoon that they were planning on making a few years back that failed miserably.

I still want at least a 90 minute special to close out the previous one, but this one seems different enough and flashy enough, I could see it succeeding. And it may actually be pretty funny with how it pokes fun at the absurdities of 80s material. And if TT GO is any indication, we may actually see that Rock n Roll teens one come to life in it later. That might be something for them to look into for season 2, an episode of Josie and the Pussycats reaches their telcom devices because of how long it takes for signals to travel in space. |
The fact people still obsess over animation style as it relates to the quality of a show really just illustrates how simplistic some people view things.
I'm looking forward to this, if nothing else it can't be any more of a disappointment than the 2011 series was. |

This one could be fun though too, and if it brings a new interest into the franchise, that could lead to more stuff like a live action movie too. |
I didn't enjoy it, it didn't feel enough like Thundercats to me. Didn't look enough like Thundercats to me either. I appreciated some elements of the worldbuilding but it felt like it should have been its own thing, not Thundercats.

OMG what the f*** is that!!!
Why do they have to take everything and ruin it  |
So is this the reason why Super 7 weren't allowed to continue the line from Mattel?

Low sales numbers iirc is what killed the Super 7 stuff. Wasn't profitable. That being said, if Mattel does still have the original and 2011 remake's toy rights, they should look into Mega construx for them like they are he-man. Though the window for the 2011 is probably closed now, but they could still do some single carded minifigs maybe if they have those rights too. Their deal may only be for the original though. Depends on what all is included in the toy license they had or if they still have it. |

when i first heard about a new thundercats series i was like YEAH!!! however when i saw the crap steven universe/uncle grandpa art style, i kind of vomited in my mouth a little.
they should have keep it similar to the 2011 series that was only 1 season or similar styling to the original 80s series. this is just one of those series that had such a fan following that you either do it right the first time or just don't do it at all. |

Whereas Mattel not hitting threshold for their "Classics" attempt, means even lower numbers for other iterations that use a similar model as that. Same issue MOTUC has been having. These past few years it's been kind of on the bubble as well and dwindling. But for now, the sales numbers are above threshold. For a time there it dipped below too and almost ended entirely. Quote:
If they did as you suggest, we'd never get anything thundercats and it'd stay a dead franchise. So while the toon may not be what you want, you can at least appreciate that the interest it generates in the property could lead to things you will like as opposed to not having anything made for it at all. If this does well with kids, and it likely will. We could actually see a live action movie grow from the resurgence it causes. That "fan" following isn't quite as strong as you think either. Bandai's classics line floundered and collapsed in on it self. The 2011 series toyline did well at first, but then caved in on itself too after initially really strong sales. (Though part of that was also lack of new product to keep pace to what was shown in the show. I'm still miffed about not getting Pumyra, the "Golden armor" of Omens and Perfect Mumm-Ra armor as figures. But a lot of that was figure sales too on why those didn't get made. And the playsets weren't moving at all either until clearanced out.) The Mattel classics line collapsed in on itself too. The Thundercats fanbase isn't strong enough to support itself as a whole yet. But a toon like this could actually change that and make it "cool" again. |
