Hey Joe, what are those stones you used for the diorama?

Regular old paver stones from Lowe's. Ground down to create some edges, thoroughly cleaned.

Fucking amazing, Joe. Great shoot, and the throne looks so cool. How durable is it, exactly? I look at those thin, pointy things coming out of the back and I can only imagine how fragile they are. Do you have to assemble the throne, or does it come all in one piece?

You're going to have a long wait, my friend. NECA announced on Facebook that a chunk of their upcoming Predator stuff (such as Ultimate Ahab and others) was initially delayed due to "factory issues" and then further delayed so they don't interfere with their new figures based on Shane Black's new Predator movie, which is currently their main focus. NECA said that they can't even show pics of the new movie figures until the film's Sept. 14 release date, and from there who knows how long it'll take to get the actual figures themselves released (hopefully before Christmas?). But they were pretty firm in insisting that no new Predator figures will be released beforehand, so we're in for a Predator dry spell. :(

The thin pointy things are softer plastic, so they should be fine. Those are the only things that need assembling. The rest is all one piece.

We've had a Predator dry spell for 15 months already...

The fins coming off the back are plastic pieces. Slightly softer, no chance of breaking. The rest is super solid, like a resin statue. Only assembly needed is the attachment of the fins, which takes just a few seconds.

Cool. Is the throne literally just a solid hunk of resin, or does it feel hollow? Or is that something you can't really tell just by holding it in your hand?

I'm telling you, dude...as was discussed briefly in another thread, I think TRU's closure has seriously hurt NECA. Their recent new release output has dropped to next-to-nothing and if you look at their website calendar (which was just updated), it's slim pickings for the next several months and 95% of what's coming out are just re-releases of older stuff (Part 4 Jason, Ashy Slashy, etc). Joe noted that they're trying to set up new retail avenues, so hopefully that will help, but in the meantime...well, at least it's helping my wallet, lol.

Well, to be fair, the lack of Predator stuff long pre-dates the TRU closing. I'm thinking it has to do with multiple factors; TRU, the new movie, and the FOX acquisition by the Evil Empire. The last might explain the slow down in Aliens stuff, too. If I'm being totally honest, IF Disney does get FOX, I kind of hope they pull those franchises from NECA…that way I won't have to have the personal crisis of whether or not to buy them. I just can't bring myself to support anything from the big D.

No, it has a real good heft to it. Can tell it's not hollow as soon as you pick it up. It's a heavy base to make sure the Predator figures sit well in there without having to do too much messing around.

And what about the video game figures? (AVP)

Apparently those are fourth Quarter 2018 releases now.

With Predator stuff, I have a feeling it was a series of things that came to a head at the same time. Toys R Us punching out left NECA with a ton of merchandise and nowhere to send it. When the vast majority of your brick n mortar stock went to 1 place, and that place goes out of business, then there has a to be some behind the scenes things happening with that to get that stock elsewhere.

But there's also the issue of the new Predator movie. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Fox is requesting their licensors to shift all their "Predator" focus to that film. Which is why we're seeing NECA's stuff pushed back even further.

So combine those two potential problems together, and it's a nightmare scenario for Alien and Predator items.

Yeah, I don't envy the pickle NECA is likely in right now. But I'm rooting for them to get things together and find other retail options so they don't have to scale their operations back and/or cancel previously announced stuff. I really hope the KB Toys thing works out...that could be a lifesaver.

As for the possibility that Fox may be holding other Pred stuff back in favor of the new movie stuff first, that's way annoying if true.
