Jurassic Park Barbasol Can Replica
|
This is really awesome, probably one of the cooler props from the movie I'd want to own, but I feel like it'll most likely be out of my price range. This shouldn't cost more than $100 but I bet it will.

Edit: Looks like they're shooting for a $200 price range on it. |
Dang it, $200, that's about what I figured. Granted it's probably made well with quality materials, just a tad bit too pricey for me. Still, it's an awesome piece.

A can of Barbasol costs like 99 cents at walmart.
Just sayin'. |

I haven't bought any of CC's stuff but I might be in on this. Such a cool piece of the movie. |
Woah, people would actually buy this? I mean, if it was the actual prop used for the movie, I can understand. But this is just a replica of an item that just doesn't stand out, no? How would you even "appreciate" this piece lying on the shelf?

I would leave it opened up on the shelf, that's how I'd appreciate it on a shelf. Just like any other film prop? |
That would look awesome on a glass shelf (opened/can on it's side behind the tech) with a Dennis Nedry and Compy Pop.

I mean, take the movie Matrix. If someone were to make a prop of the shades worn by Neo, would you buy it? I would hope not, because its not unique! Only way it would have uniqueness is if it were the very prop used on the set! I guess what I am saying is I don't see the value of something being bought as a collectible when the item itself is commonly available for purchase. Only time such an item would seem like a worthy collectible is if it was actually the original used in the set (at which point it becomes unique by virtue of being that very item you saw in the movie). |

You see the pictures that have all the internals of the movie's can and that it's got the Dino DNA vials right? It's not just a can of Barbasol. |

I suppose your answers are an overwhelming "yes"!. But objectively speaking, is that actually true? Unless you are planing on pulling the same heist as the fat guy did using this can, I am not sure there is value! |
It’s for people whose sexual obsession is getting cavity searched by TSA.

Maybe it's like the spy type of thing in me that makes it cool too. Like there must be a dozen easy James Bond type objects that Q gives him that they could do props of that are normal every day objects. You see no value in those if you were a massive Bond fan? |

You could then say that there isn't a can in real life with a hidden compartment for Dino vials. But that seems more on the level of functionality than appearance. In terms of appearances, you are looking at something that you could easily purchase. I suppose you could say that your focus is actually on the appearance of the vials and its housing. Only issue is that such form of housing is also not that uncommon, though perhaps hard to purchase outside of a laboratory setting, and the cost of the real thing could actually be much more expensive. So yes, I stand corrected that if one really wants to have that appearance of the vials + housing captured, then it does stand out in that sense :) Quote:
But now in discussing this with you, I have come to realize there are others (like yourself) who enjoy the movie in terms of the gadgetry as well. I can now see how in such a scenario, how one would legitimately want to recreate the appearance of that gadget itself. |
Y’allz some trflin ass muhfuhs.

I think it’s neat as hell. But for 200$ I’d have to use it to smuggle narcotics across the border to pay for it. |
I just watched a YouTube video recently that shows you how to make one of these diy, it's worth checking out, I believe it was Odin makes, but I can't remember as I watch a few prop youtubers.

Was he supposed to pick and choose what species to get off the island there were 15 right?
I'm not sure why anyone thinks this is the same as a normal can of shaving foam regardless of what they are "into" I have never seen a can of shaving foam with this in it. |
