I don't remember my original figure having such a fat face.

$80!!!!!! Wow. These look like something from the dollar store.

I'm tempted to get this just because I want to display next to the Hot Toys Bespin Leia when it releases next year.

$80 for this POS? You have got to have some real nostalgia for this particular figure to drop that amount of cash on it

The puzzle of it is, even as little kids, we all realized and hated how cheap and crummy most of the original figures looked. Some were worse than others (the facesculpt of young Luke stands out in memory as a particular eyesore), but they were all pretty grim: our parents scooped them up because nothing better was available and because we loved the movies and wanted SOMEthing -- ANYthing -- to make our experience of the stories tangible and personal.

It would be interesting to talk with someone who wants these things and ask the simple question: WHY?

I understand nostalgia. I do understand $80 worth of it for a jumbo version of a merely adequate 1980 Star Wars figures.
