Ragin Spoon Complex Base Building System
|
Raging Spoon previewed this on HissTank a while back. Really, really awesome, but also really, really cost-prohibitive. You can easily spend a fortune on even a small dio set.
If they can get the prices down I'd totally be down for this. |
Picked up multiple sets at the 2018 Joe Convention and I couldn’t be more impressed. Wave one is fantastic, can wait to get all the new pieces in wave two.
|
These things are incredible. The play value is crazy and they're stupidly fun to play with. I planned to buy some just for dio making, and ended up buying twice as much so I had some to play with too. With all the cool modular stuff, these things are like the Lego of play sets.
|
Wasn't Raging Spoon selling these direct somewhere at much better prices?

Smalljoes has better pricing the more you buy. They have deals when you buy 5 at once and even cheaper by the case. |
These are so much fun to play with and the wave 2 stuff means its just getting better. It was absolutely worth the $160 I paid to build out a big dio.
|
Awesome
This is why I need a bigger 3.75" scale collection...cool stuff.
I'm thinking more Star Wars buuuut Acid Rain actually appeals to me more for some reason. Joes are some of the best designs but what about the posability? |
These look pretty sweet.
|
Not a bad idea, but way too expensive. I can buy tons of World Peacekeepers stuff for this amount of money and also build bases. Sure, not as customizable, but you get the idea.
|
Really cool. Once I get settled into new place, it looks like a fun dio project. I can see where people are freaking over the cost though.

This is a papercraft set I made using images from Google. I saved the image in Paint, then did a copy/paste to create the repeating pattern for printing. Simple and cheap but works really well.

Speaking as someone who was looking for a display solution pretty much exactly like this, I've been *incredibly* happy with my COMPLEX purchases.
The price for the base sets is pretty reasonable when you consider what you get in each box. With one of each set (so, a little over $30) you can put together a cool little set-up / backdrop for a 1:18 scale team. As you go bigger, the number of connecting joints you get in each pack becomes essential, and I've used almost every piece to build a warehouse designed to hold my Cobra Battle Android Troopers (150 at the last count) and these things are rock solid, they look so f'ing good, and with all these new pieces and options, I really just can't wait to plus up my display and maybe even start putting together some new ones. Seriously, if I sound like a shill, it's because the quality and value is there. If you like building toys like Lego, and you need a cool backdrop for your collection, COMPLEX is right up their with Ubiquitous or Spacewalls. |
Saw these at Assembly Required this past weekend, and was blown away by the quality and awesomeness in series 1, and what's coming in series 2.
For $85 at SmallJoes.com you can get 5 of the floor set (10 "tiles" total), which you can do A LOT with (you can use the floors for walls too, if that's not clear) Personally I'm going to be using mine for Diaclone, the gray motif fits it well :) |
