Would you support a 3 3/4 MOTU line?

Alot of toy companies are going to this scale now. Would this be a line that might interest you as opposed to or in addition to the MOTUC line.

Personally I love the scale and as long as they weren't articulated like Infinity Heroes, I'd be all aboard.

Runamuck 12-10-2008 12:57 PM

I'd be interested. But only, as you mentioned, they aren't articulated like IH. And if they created scaled down vintage vehicles for them to drive. :D

MegaPrime33 12-10-2008 01:15 PM

I'd rather wait and see how the marvel line does. If that succeeds well, why not?!

Flint 12-10-2008 01:47 PM

GOod point about the vehicles Runamuck. Think about how much easier it would be to get vehicles and playsets at this scale.

Tony_Bacala 12-10-2008 01:51 PM

Gotta be 25th Joe or higher level quality in articulation and sculpting. If they just do DC IH style blocks, or even the Marvel Universe level stuff from Hasbro, wouldn't work for me. Needs to be collector driven, high detail and tight molding.

That being said, then heck yeah. I had the entire 2002/3 line, sold it off. Not doing this round of MOTU classics, no room, too expensive for what something on first glance looks similar to vintage or 2003. But a well done 3 3/4ths? I'd probably be in.

trebleshot 12-10-2008 02:48 PM

Yeah, I'd be interested, but I have to agree with Tony about articulation and quality. It's hard for companies to compete in the market these days when you don't utilize the modern advances in toy design and technology.

I mean, imagine Fisto with a design and articulation along the lines of Big Boa? Having said that, some character gimmick may need to be re-thought (i.e. Ram Man).

Shin Densetsu 12-10-2008 09:24 PM

If it is like Infinite Heroes? No. If it is like Marvel Universe? Yes.

Alyosha 12-10-2008 09:27 PM

As long as the articulation is on a par with the Joes, it'd be welcome. A little less, or a little more as warranted by the character design would be acceptable, but no steps backward like DC Universe.

Echo7Solo 12-11-2008 10:26 AM

I think this should be the scale of all action figures. If all were done in that scale and the articulation of the Joes or Marvel or a few other lines that DO put in articulation it would be cool beyond reason.

Look at it like this. The classic Greyskull was what? 2+ feet tall with a total of 4 rooms when opened? Use that same size but scale the inside for 3 3/4. You go from having a big playset to having a MONSTER!

Beast 12-11-2008 10:43 AM

I'd certainly support it.

They'd have to be available at stores though. The current online MOTU collector's series is a major rip off. $20 + shipping each. And the figures are nowhere as great as the Modern Line that came out with the last cartoon series. So yeah, I'd love a 3 3/4" line. There's so much potential.

Heck, I'd take a Superhero Squad like line. That would be cool.

morgana08 12-11-2008 12:12 PM

I'd get those if, like stated above, they were readily available at retail. I like MOTU but certainly can't afford the new figures. If they were done well with good articulation and all then I think they could make a nice go with it.

Echo7Solo 12-11-2008 12:53 PM

Star Wars and GI Joe proved back in the 80's that 3 3/4 was the scale to go with. Toyfare named GI Joe as the greatest toy line ever a few years back simply because of the playability and accessories. It was endless. And the direction that all action figures SHOULD go in. I mean if you look at pure size and scale then think about room available it only makes sense. Greyskull could be the same size yet so much more involved. Think about a battle cat with articulation. Think about what was it called? Sky Sled? Something like that? The price point would be down as well meaning they could sell more.

Autobot_Goldbug 01-11-2009 09:43 PM

I sure would!
They came close...

Super_Megatron 12-29-2009 06:45 PM

If it was the same articulation of Marvel Universe then yes.

Clobbersaurus 12-29-2009 07:12 PM

It would have to be like the new Joe's or Marvel Universe for me to get into it.

ludovicotek 12-29-2009 09:32 PM

Oh yes! I would definitely support this line. I think that MU Warpath is a really good starting point for a base body type. I don't think that any character should have action features, like Ram-Man (as previously mentioned). It would be awesome. The articulation really needs to be far greater than any of Mattel's current or previous 3 3/4 DC stuff.

And as Beast mentioned, I would eat up a Superhero Squad style line for MOTU.

G1Wheeljack 12-31-2009 11:15 PM

Was thinking about this earlier today actually. One of the main reasons I don't collect MOTUC is becuase of the scale. If they did a 3 3/4" scale line(with at least Marvel Universe level articulation as others have stated) I'd be on board for sure!

flywheels 01-05-2010 12:36 PM

As much as I love the smaller scale I just can't see some properties being able to pull it off. MOTU and Thundercats come to mind immediately!
