McFarlane at SDCC 2019

SDCC 2019 - McFarlane Mortal Kombat, Doom, Fortnite, Harry Potter and More

No DC Figures. Sorry folks.

Vamp 07-17-2019 08:22 PM

I have to get that BL psycho figure.

mort 07-17-2019 08:59 PM

It's no doubt disappointing, but not too surprising they have no DC offerings to show yet. Maybe 2020 Toy Fair is a good bet.

Well, this is only Preview Night. There might be more in store later on.

Probably not from McFarlane. They are part of the Previews booth, which doesn't get updated as it isn't manned by the individual company reps.

Ah, ok. Yeah, probably waiting until Toy Fair 2020 then (or perhaps NYCC 2019, but I think Toy Fair is more likely).

Tracer 07-17-2019 10:43 PM

Gotta get that Fortnite Wolf.

The Mortal Kombat figures look great. Really hoping for some closer to the original designs. Just not a fan of the 50lbs of armor on them.

Specter 07-17-2019 11:06 PM

Call of Duty dead I guess?
think they still have 2 unrevealed figures.

warmachine6 07-18-2019 03:26 AM

hmm no medicom mafex figures this year at the diamond previews booth ?

jmurray90720 07-18-2019 07:09 AM

Mortal Kombat toy lines will always be failures as long they only make Scorpion, Sub Zero and never get to the other characters.

Augustus_Cole 07-18-2019 08:07 AM

REALLY likin' those mortal kombat figs. hope they actually have decnt articulation and PLEASE continue the damn line..!!!

Storm... has Goro, Baraka, rain, ermac, smoke, cyborgs, and more... also, Jazzware had almost everyone and STILL managed to be a failure.

Besides... ARE they failures? Scorpion and Subzero are the two most popular. Selling them first nets you the most buyers. It gives you a good look at what’s the top threshold for your figure. Releasing Johnny Cage, Quan Chi, Jax, and Kitana first is a good way to not make money.

Mashbrains 07-18-2019 11:04 AM

Can we get some insight as to the scale of the Mortal Kombat figures? They look so much smaller standing next to Harry Potter.
Hoping for 7inch scale, but they look tiny.

Nothing new of note. Mostly stuff we've seen a while now. John Wick, Robocop, Alien, TDK Bruce Wayne, Ra's al Ghul, couple Neon Genesis mechs.

Tim 07-18-2019 11:15 AM

Damn! Was hoping they’d show off some of the Fallout figs.

Krydion 07-18-2019 11:38 AM

So disappointed in the lack of Game of Thrones figures. I was excited that McFarlane did a pretty good job with its 1st wave of 4, particularly the Night King, but more tiny dragons isn't what I expected or wanted. There are so many rich figures to mine and release: Bronn, Cersei, the Mountain, Ned, Sansa, Jorah Mormont......and I hope Todd isn't dropping the ball here.
I was hoping for a Walking Dead - style inventory where like 8 figures a year are released!

I'm not invested in the line but I am worried that with the show being concluded all of the steam has blown out and McFarlane will just move on.

snake5289 07-18-2019 12:42 PM

BOOOO! I was hoping for Scorpion using the "OG Ninja" costume.

hasbroherofan 07-18-2019 01:56 PM

They were upfront from the beginning that these were MK 11 figures. I know the nostalgia costume for Scorpion is in the game, but that'd kinda defeat the purpose of doing the line for that specific game if they just gave him his 90s look.

That's a salient point, but surely McFarlane knew the show was ending when they acquired the license to GoT this year, right?

There might be hope yet, back when pre-orders for these went live Scorpion's description suggested there would be a variant figure released later. Of course it could always just be a repaint.

I'm sure they knew it was ending (we all did) but perhaps the unforeseen fan backlash against the final season is giving them pause, like they want to let tempers cool before trying to push more merchandise.

Krunomo 07-18-2019 07:22 PM

Doom, Borderlands and MK are all instant buys on my end. Hoping Doom goes beyond the Doom Slayer. Would be nice if the Borderlands line came out a little faster. Given that later i worry that MK figures will be dropped at rates of two to four characters a year with the line dying after a few short years well short of the full roster. Was hoping we would see some Fallout stuff. Power armor has so much potential and gives them a chance to drop the same figure a dozen times with different paint apps.

RamenJunkie 07-18-2019 08:44 PM

I was hoping for more Game of Thrones characters, not just dragons. I liked the first set for the most part.

WastelandAngel 07-18-2019 09:58 PM

Im very impressed with those MK figures, cannot wait to pick them up.
