Fury Files Wolverine Marvel Classics 2009

Having never owned Wolverine in 3 3/4 scale Hasbro is off to a good start. What can you say, the figure is one of those must own characters. The head sculpt and body design are nice and the claws look even and stay in-place. The articulation is better then most G.I. Joe 25th figures and is par with the rest of Wave 1 Fury Files. What more can you ask for out of a Wolverine action figure.

A Solid 8 out of 10 overall for this figure. However, this is the one figure that needed no gear and closed fists (that I normally hate) and we got the opposite. I hope the next repaint has closed fists and the yellow, black and blue cartoon colors.

yeah he is probably one of the better looking ones, i kind of like that he has an M16

Alyosha 12-10-2008 03:13 PM

Argh! Your killing me!!!

pud333 12-10-2008 05:16 PM

He looks awesome. Totally agree with you about the lack of closed fists. The assault rifle was a bit pointless. Would have preferred an extra "screaming" or "angry" face as an accessory instead of the gun.

I'm hoping for the brown and tan repaint, which I'm sure is definitely going to be coming.

Tony_Bacala 12-10-2008 05:25 PM

Give me the Yellow and Blue version, and Im all over it. Mold is solid, like Destro said, close to 25th Joe level construction. Not a big Wolverine comic fan, but I am definitely down with a traditional comic-color inspired version in toy form.

AdrienVeidt 12-10-2008 05:41 PM

Yeah, this is another fig I'll have to pass on. Maybe when they get the tiger-stripe uniform out; but until then I'll stick with my brown-suited custom:

Really like the X-Force Wolverine. Wish he was a bit shorter though. Hope it means a chance of seeing X-Force versions of X-23, Warpath, Wolfsbane, and Archangel eventually. Even a Domino. Heck, re-pack the X-Force Wolvie with the above figures in a store exclusive boxset and you're golden.

I like how this figure comes with the Muramasa sword, the sword that was featured in the early Wolverine books, and the same sword he used to behead Sabretooth last year. This figure is screaming for the brown costume repaint, and with that said, I would not be surprised if we see it later on. Add shoulder pads and the tiger stripe deco w/blue & yellow and you have the 90's costume. Make a new head based on the first appearance and change the belt buckle and you have first appearance Wolverine. Keep that body, and give him a bat ear mask, and you have the early Dave Cockrum rendition of Wolverine.

We have a winner for this figure!

Shin, you took the words right out of my mouth.

Optimus Scourge 12-10-2008 07:12 PM

He will be mine. Look forward to other versions, as well!

Do his claws pop on and off, not in love with the uniform (much prefer the good 'ol brown/tan). If the claws come off too, I might bite!

Is the sword included with the figure? I don't see it in the review. Maybe I'm missing something...

The claws are not removable, one of the only problems including the sword and the M-16 with this version. They should have kept this one for a comic 2-pack and gave us a closed fist version that better represents Wolverine in POP Culture. Lets just hope we get that version and soon.

After reading the interview in toy fare you get the idea the Hasbro Marvel Team wants to do current comic book nods with some of these figures. That's all good however we should get a standard version first then go back and repaint, and fan nod all you want.

I do not read comics monthly. I do trades and very few at that. So the sword means nothing to me and the M-16 is just silly. The claws are popped and he is shooting a rifle? Its Wolverine he would rather walk up and punch you in the mouth.

The sword I can understand(not only did he use it to behead Sabretooth, he actually got the sword during the very early issues of Wolverine written by Larry Hama way back in the day), but I don't see any use for Wolverine, especially this release to have the gun. It should have come with Punisher, if anything it will be an extra gun for my joes or cobras. I do agree, Wolverine probably would rather punch somebody in the mouth claws out. This gun seems more fitting for that military gear Wolverine we saw a few weeks ago.

Alyosha 12-12-2008 09:59 AM

Not to pick a nit, but the sword he comes with is the Muramasa blade. It is specifically been shown as red.

The other blade was the honor sword of the clan Yashida that was given to him by Mariko. Other than being ancient and a family legacy, it is just a sword.

Either way works though!

He also got it back from Cyclops in the beginning of the Wolverine:Origins comic book then beheaded Sabretooth last year with it.
