Oh man...world heroes figs and golden axe look utterly amazing.

Spooked 10-03-2019 08:14 AM

Nice touch with the Golden Axe Skeleton.

And after waiting all this time for Raiden... This is what I get? Ugh. I'm just so. Disappointed.

snake5289 10-03-2019 08:16 AM

Hot damn! That Superman is awesome.

What exactly did you want? It's a pretty perfect rendition of MK2 Raiden. The only thing missing were some accessories.

webz 10-03-2019 08:22 AM

RAIDEN!!!!!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!! Not MK1 Raiden, but still... Hopefully he has a stand so he can do his torpedo move.

Dragasses 10-03-2019 08:28 AM

golden axe?!

word.

ddarko 10-03-2019 08:59 AM

What happened to their Kitana and Mileena figures? I think they were first revealed almost 2 years ago?

"pending approval"... looks like they didn't meet Warner Bros. approval.

At the very least, they can get a ton of variants out of the Lyger mold. I'm hoping for an all black CTU version myself.

MK1 Raiden? I'm not really sure. I think it's probably a case of letting my imagination run wild and then being hit with reality. I suspect I'll warm to this more after awhile. ;)

Remember, MK1, mk2, and mk3 were costumes made to be worn by real actors from various junk found in thrift shops. Toys based on that version of the characters will be more bland than the toys based on the modern games of 3D, built from scratch characters, with all their busy layers of costume design.

Overall, I think Raiden looks boss. Would love for the elbow symbols and vest to be removable to make an mk1 Raiden.

Storm Collectibles Mortal Kombat

Hey look, it's a really cool new Raiden figure that will most likely end up in the "WHAT HAPPENED? File" along with Kitana, Mileena, Liu Kang's Dragon, Johnny Cage and MK3 Unmasked Sub-Zero!!

Seriously... I love these figures... but what in the Blue Hell is going on with this company's release schedule?

They do exactly the same as most Asian-based toy companies. They show TONS of prototypes, concept figures, etc, and some end up on shelves, others never are seen from again. Bandai has done it for years. What's different about Storm is the sheer insane amount of licenses going to them for such a young company. At least they have a better record than the Infinite Concept company from the 90's that came and went in the blink of an eye.

webz 10-03-2019 12:42 PM

Golden Axe looks meh. The characters in the game were so generic, it really hasn't translated well, imho. Dragon looks cool tho. Wonder if they will make the treasure thieves...

Shao Kahn could easily be adapted into Death Adder...

Sean C 10-03-2019 01:34 PM

No Tyris Flare? Why even make Golden Axe toys if she isn't first in line.

I dunno why they are even doing Battler. I can make Tyris and Battler cheaper than the Storm MSRP with generic pieces off of ebay. Gilius Thunderhead is the only one of the three I can't easily make.

Love the dragon, would love the chicken... but the actual heroes are too generic IMHO. Chick in a white bikini and a dude in blue undies? pfff. Altered Beast would be my go-to for classic characters turned into figures. at least they aren't a dime a dozen.

No your first instinct was right. That Raiden looks terrible. It is obvious Storm has more than one sculptor. At least one of them is amazing, and at least one of them should not be allowed to do professional work until they can prove themselves worthy. That Raiden has absolutely nothing aesthetically pleasing about it whatsoever. It resembles MKII Raiden in design, but that's it. This is worse than MKIII scorpion, but MKIII Scorpion is more disappointing because all of the Pallette swaps/repaints of that design will also be garbage. I'm going to guess the same sculptor has done those 2.

2 recent Sculpts that are incredible and look great in almost every way are the Ultra SF2 Sagat and The MKIII Cyber ninja Mold. Storm was my favorite toy company until they have been dropping the ball lately. Just compare This Raiden and the MKIII Scorpion with their first release of MKII Scorpion, and you can tell they are going in the wrong direction. How far my expectations for them have Fallen.

If you really feel that that Raiden isn't up to par you shouldn't encourage them to keep putting out sub par figures like that by buying it. For $80+ Dollars Raiden should be a great figure not just something we need to fill a Storm MK roster hole.

P.S. The Golden Axe Skeleton looks very promising. Need to see more angles on that one.

Krunomo 10-03-2019 04:56 PM

So it's looking like the 2020 Storm MK lineup will consist of MK3 ninjas and maybe Raiden.

But if they scale similarly...they'll look great paired up with Mythic Legions...

Trivial Psychic 10-03-2019 09:03 PM

A lot of hatred for Raiden here...which surprises me...especially with all of the hatred towards it being the MK2 version of the character (which I thought was his best look honestly...it's certainly the most iconic version of him.)

Knowing Storm, I would almost be willing to bet that the vest will be removable on the final product...allowing you to get a look pretty damn close to his MK1 appearance. If there is one thing Storm is really good at doing, it's getting multiple versions of a character out with very subtle changes (such as Ken having his Alpha and SF2 looks, Bipson's removable skirt which transforms him back to SF2, the different MK masks featured with the ninjas, etc.)

It won't be 100 percent accurate in Raiden's case, but it would be close enough. And since Storm figures tend to disassemble pretty easy, they could always put in an extra set of arms. Until we see a final product, who knows what is coming.

Looks like Kitana and her sisters might be stuck in "pending licensor approval hell." Or the Netherrealm, along with Lui Kang. Quan Chi is powerful indeed...

Augustus_Cole 10-04-2019 03:35 AM

I need that Gears Kait and Warden. That Warden is HUGGGE in person compared to the human figs. That's a must own. I sure hope they get made to go along with my Marcus and Cole.

I picked up Smoke and Bloody Scorpion

Raiden - Though accurate, it looks soooooo bland/plain/underwhelming. I guess i've seen so many diff (and interesting Raiden designs over the years that this just looks.. blah) BUT... I will still purchase it. i'm an MK fan!!!
Cyrax - I didn't pick up(reallly wanted it)ONLY because the BBTS one comes with the spinning copter pieces for the head as well so i'll wait for that.

Sektor - Want
Bane - Want
Cammy - I like it, but I'll wait for the O.G version. Didn't want to waste that $$ on it just because it was cool looking.

The Good new is I don't want several of these (my wallet thanks me in advance)

I saw these in person yesterday and i do not want..

Superman - don't like
Darkseid - Dont like the sculpt, not a huge fan of the character
Lobo - it looks cool, but that price point, size and sculpt are not 4 me
Doomsday - severely dislike that rendition of the figure
King of Fighters - no attachment to these characters but i like that Rugal fig
Golden Axe - no desire to own
Liger - don't even know who that is.

ludovicotek 10-04-2019 06:41 AM

Raiden is perfect. Looking forward to getting some more human-sized characters. Baraka can't fight all those ninjas alone.

Still very excited for Golden Axe. Agree that we really need the other two main characters. I would think that would be priority over a dragon.

Storm collectibles figures tower over mythic legions. Average heights are 7 to 9 inches. Mythic legions are 5.5 to 6 inches for humans & elves. Smaller for most orcs and goblins.

Doubt they’ll make it, but a 10” death adder with the golden axe would sell like mad to fans of the game and people who just want an intimidating freak henchman.
